Its looking more and more like Floyd Mayweather will upset the delicate balance at Golden Boy Promotions by choosing Marcos Maidana for his next fight. We have already seen Amir Khan's volatile reaction to this news as he strongly feels Mayweather wasted his time and feels snubbed. Adrien Broner's contractually obligated rematch would also be violated by this. Both these guys (who are young Golden Boy talent) would be getting snubbed just so Mayweather can yet again have his way. So how do you make it up to these guys? Maybe you set up a fight for both on the undercard and pay them both well. Not only does that help calm their agitation but it would also add a solid fight to a PPV that is less than spectacular. Part of the reason Canelo-Mayweather was so successful was because everyone knew Mattyhsse-Garcia was on the undercard. I think adding Khan-Broner to this card would add a lot of buys from some of the fans. What do you guys think?
I buy all Khan fights, and I'll definitely Buy it just to watch Khan fighting after such a long time, not really interested in watching Maidana getting beaten oldschool style by Floyd but sadly will buy the PPV just for the sake of Khan fight.
It doesn't matter who Mayweather fights, for me at least.
Toss in Keith Thurman, Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse, Shawn Porter, or Adrien Broner anywhere in the undercard with good opposition and I'll likely buy the PPV to invite some friends over.
The undercard is not an issue. I trust Golden Boy in that. Khan won't be on it though.
I expect to see Thurman and Matthysse on it.
I would expect Khan on it, myself. It just smells like they're trying to force the Khan fight soon.
Personally, I think Porter is all wrong for him. He'll stay in the fire and bite down on his mouthpiece to land solid punches... And he's pretty accurate with that right hand.
I wouldn't be surprised if they make Khan-Alexander/Guerrero the co-feature.
I don't get the beetchness about a promoter stacking a boxing card with fights that people want to see, I prefer a GBP card when Mayweather is fighting most of the time than when Pac is fighting on Top rank. If that meant Mayweather needs to get help selling his fights so be it, but I prefer to see it the other way, which means paying fans gets their monies worth with different quality fights.
I'd like to see:
Floyd-Maidana
Broner-Matthysse
Khan-Porter
Thurman-Malinaggi
that's an excellent card.....but you know floyd is gonna put one of his wack ass tmt fighters on the card.
so basically theres no-one for floyd in september.....
someone will emerge if golden boy matches up some solid matchmaking this summer. they need a marquee undercard fight on this may card though so it doesn't tank
I'd like to see:
Floyd-Maidana
Broner-Matthysse
Khan-Porter
Thurman-Malinaggi
that would be a great card. no way broner-matthysse happens at this point though unfortunately.
khan-broner is too risky for broner......wont happen. plus if broner wins, who fights floyd in september and if khan wins, theres gonna be complications because of Ramadan which finishes july 29th.
Good point. I think khan will fight porter since porter wants money. And we know broner won't fight Floyd

that september date could very well be tricky. GBP has a ton of potential foes for Mayweather that won't be ready to challenge him just yet. The guys like Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, and Shawn Porter are all still gaining experience or in Danny's case adjusting to a move up in weight soon. Matthysse was a viable option until Danny beat him and now he has to get back on track with some solid wins to be in the running. The best fight out there is really Erislandy Lara who is too high risk low reward for Floyd and Lara doesn't bring a big fan base.
