I'm raking my brain trying to remember the last time Floyd fought a real 1 punch KO type of guy. Maidana is extremely limited but he has that 1 punch crack. Even though I feel Matthysse is the bigger puncher of the 2 and better all around, Floyd hasn't fought a guy that can punch like this in ages. I'm not saying Maidana is beating Floyd, I feel Mayweather will be able to expose Chino's limitations. Still can't remember the last time Floyd fought a real puncher like this though.
Alexander is physically stronger than Broner, Devon has used those wrestling tactics for quite some time so it's only understandable that he would be that effective. On top of that Alexander was a '47 while fighting at '40, this is why he looked that much stronger as soon as he entered the division.
I dont buy the strength thing. Maidana is strong.. his problem that night was gameplan, and perhaps passion. He seemed listless in that fight by most accounts. Perhaps his trainers fate was weighing on his mind.
Yes Maidana's trainer Rudy Perez was not with him training or in the corner fight night. Guy had cancer or something. Anyway Maidana was not receiving quality instruction to try to adapt to something so unsporting. More to the point, I have watched Maidana's entire fight library and Devon's clinching was definitely something he wasnt prepared for, he had never encountered that before.
To add more to it, Alexander controlled Maidana easily, very easily. I can understand if Maidana held his own in that department but he wasn't even competitive, and his improvements under Garcia likely wouldn't change that from happening to him again.
it would change. Maidana would borrow Porter's strategy which he is more than capable of doing.
Excellent. Utterly excellent.
You are right.
I know right..
To me his approach to Devon and his approach to Broner are night and day, and shows he has a rare ability to learn new behavior. Most fighters fall into a way of things but Maidana just does whatever works.
Maidana has a better chance of outpointing Floyd than ko'ing him.
no not at all. His best chance involves hurting Floyd. He wasnt leveraging his shots on Khan how he is whinging them now. Put Khan in the ring now and see if his "whiskers" hold up. Of course Khan wont give chino a rematch because he knows this, even if his fans dont.

lol...
This fight will be as boring as hell, Makdana does nothing better than Canelo and that was boring enough.
Makdana.... ? Lol. Look as ive explained Maidana's approach to the fight would be better than Canelo's was.
haha floyd will not stop maidana and you can bump this thread fight night. maidana has been hurt several times in his career but never stopped and floyd isn't a good finisher. no way he stps chino
These are the posts that make this thread bump worthy.:lol1:
But I do agree, I don't see Floyd stopping him. And there are some good insight ful posts in here about how much Maidana has progressed, and his fighting spirit. I want to see a fight where Floyd has to go through some real adversity.
Is Maidana the man to do it?
I'm glad he is getting the chance to show if he can, and not Khan.
Floyd stopping Maidana.

How many 1 punch KO artists are there ? Maidana isn't even a 1 punch KO artist. Another fighter that Mayweather haters are claiming would beat Floyd.
i don't see many people picking maidana. just observing that he has big punching power that floyd hasn't seen in awhile
Lol at people making out like Maidana is Julian Jackson. He caught Khan flush and could not drop him. His power is not bad, but it is not good enough to be a factor against Mayweather.
From what I saw, Khan was on the run and Maidana had to lunge to land his right hands. This made for the punches to lose some sting. Maidana can be very sloppy when he has to chase. The same happened with Morales and Corley. It's not that he is not dangerously powerful, is just that he has no idea how to throw power punches to a fighter who is on the run. We all know that lunging in takes away power from your punches because your legs are not fully behind them. Now take that into consideration and look at the damage Maidana did to Khan and Morales while just throwing badly balanced, lunging punches.
If you stand and trade with Maidana, or yuor not on the run and you let him set his feet, you end up like Ortiz, Lopez, Karras, and look at how he lunged at Broner with the first KD and still hurt him.
The guy is powerful as hell, his 12 round fights with Khan, Corley and Morales should not be an indicator of his lack of power, more like his flaws on cutting off the ring and not being good throwing effectively to moving targets.
Mayweather has only fought two one punch knock out artist, it's Corrales and DLH that's it. Maidana is an accumulative puncher, he brings nothing new in terms of power.

its rare and the closest thing around welter is actually 7 miles south at 140 with lucas matthysse. no doubt he packs 1 punch KO power as he has stopped several guys for the first time in their careers that were solid pros like ajose, soto, and peterson. thurman is knocking everyone out not named zaveck and if he were able to get some devastating stoppages against some name guys he has the potential to be in the conversation. I can't see Maidana completely rendering Floyd unconcious with a shot which is what he would need to win. He is capable of hurting Floyd though if one of those big shots happens to land. Here is a fun stat
KO Ratio:
Marcos Maidana 81%
Miguel Cotto 73%
Saul Alvarez 68%
Shane Mosley 67%
ODLH 66%
Victor Ortiz 61%
So it seems the arguements Canelo & Shane are bigger punchers than Ortiz have some merit. Still can't argue with the numbers Maidana has the highest KO ratio of any recent Floyd opponents
Excellent analysis. Big props for backing up your post with stats.
I haven't seem one anti-Maidana poster back up his opinion with facts. They're just talking out of their ass and believing that Mayweather is invisible.
No man is immune to an overhand right. Overhand rights are bad for your health.
Have an ice cold e-beer, friend.

I haven't watched the fight in years and I never wrote down which rounds I gave who, so I couldn't tell you. I normally don't like to do that because it takes the fun out of watching a fight. Judging a fight closely can be tedious.
From what I recall, I had Floyd by a cunt hair, but the score was a bit strange because of the point deductions.
I'll watch it again some day and make a note of it. Diary this for a month and get back to me.
castillo clearly won the first fight. the 2nd fight was close

you've never seen the fight, have you?
You're bias. Look at your sig. You and deranged should go watch Mayweather-Castillo together and rationalize how Mayweather won.
PBF clearly got outworked, his punches weren't doing s*** to Castillo who had more power at 135 at the time. Mayweather didn't work his way up to the weight properly. He adjusted to 135 later on. He thought he could just go up in weight like nothing. He learned a valuable lesson that day: You have to move up weight classes carefully. He didn't even test out the weight class with a tuneup fight. I like Mayweather, but JLC was unquestionably the better man that night.
