I have in the past been accused of being anti-European, despite the fact I am half Italian-Irish-Scottish-German, so I want the European guys here to tell me whats really good.
I recently read that Nicolay Valuev KO'ed Clifford Ettienne in the 3rd round, Woah! The man is 41-0 (31 KO), but largely against non-descript opposition. Why aren't they matched tougher? If an American heavyweight goes 41-0 against Valuev's opposition, they would probably revoke his license for making the Athletic Commisions sick, unless they are from Tennessee.
How about this Mahyar Monshipour character? He is 27-2-2 (18 KO), holds the WBA 122 Lb. strap, yet I have never heard of any of the guys he's fought. Why? Because he doesn't fight good opposition.
You tell me if I am prejudice or if I have a point.
P.S.
Oh yeah, Brian Nielsen!
.JM Mormeck is probably the best cruiser..Tiozzo used to be excellent and is still a very good figther, although obviously over the hill
Mahyar Monshipour grabed the WBA belt less than 2 years ago, and ko'd medjkoune (former champ) twice, then the mandatory challengers.
He's not a cutie but constantly improving (he started boxing at 19 I believe) and he's a seek and destroy fighter, going very hard to the body and throwing tons of punches. I can tell u he's very exciting to watch and a very solid champ. Let's hope he can reunify with Larios later this year.
I see FM going through hard times, getting hurt by a few big hooks and show his pride and balls to fight back finish gatti. and get a true fan base in the process. I see this fight a bit like DLH/vargas, vargas looked so damned bigger and could rock goldie everytime he connected in the first few rounds. then goldie science and speed equalized everything and he finished him off in a terrific fight. that's exactly how I see it for tonight.
This was the first chance I'd had to see Mormeck in action, and gents...I was extremely impressed. The guy's going to be the one to watch for a few years. I hope he strikes a deal with HBO or Showtime (preferrably Showtime) and all his future fights get televised. With the show he put on last night, he deserves it.
Oh, and Wayne's loss to this French Warrior is nothing to be ashamed of. He showed one helluva chin, a great heart, and a strong will. He was just beaten by experience and power, that's all. He's still young and has plenty of time to make things right in his career. Any other fighter in the division would most likely have been on his ass in the 3rd. Braithwaite dun good, and nobody can say different.
I've seen Mormeck fight twice already before (Brown-Hill 1st fight) and I knew he could make it but not so "easily". I mean he had a hard time in the beginning and absorbed some really heavy body punches but kept his cool, imposed his pressure and variety of punches, found angles...I hope he completes the unification next time
It was clearly intentional and he repeted it several times, that's tito's style when he's in trouble. Vargas impressed a lot in that fight by staying so cool after getting KD!
It's a combination a many things, starting with what nature gave you in your arms...your relative percentage of quick/slow muscle fibers is pretty much fixed from birth , so your ability to accelerate a mass (your fist) cannot be increased so much.
Punching technique ,like putting your body weight in your hand, is also primordial. Fighters who are not blessed with natural power can often obtain almost the same effect if they have an excellent technique + quickness + perfect timing. Look at Tzyu's right hand, it's so effective because he throws it when he knows he will catch the guy.
Also tall and skinny fighters have natural ability to hit hard, maybe because of the leverage...
I haven't seen much of K-1 or know much about it.....other than kicking, what's so different about it? I mean, like the strategies and stuff that you guys are talkin about. I'd like to be enlightened on that.
At the beginnig, in the 90's K1 was a HW muay thai tournament (punch/kick/knee but elbows not allowed to avoid quick stoppage on cuts). Great fighters were competing and giving tremendous fights ,like ernesto hoost, peter aerts, lebanner, and many others....
Then it got so popular that money spoiled it completely (and competition with MMA tournaments to get the bigger audience) and we started to see washed up boxers like botha or steroid intake world champs like sapp invade it and then it started to be a joke, a circus displaying huge guys with only muscles but no technique, trying to cash in. and there is the result...thinking u can defeat a legitimate muay thai top KO artist just because u used to be a good boxer 10 years ago is just totally stupid and suicidal.
K1 used to be a great tournament of a true sport, now it's only shit.
Try this

It's only short clips but it's pure muay thai , performing one of the best of all times: Ramon "the diamond " dekkers
enjoy!!
Jirov with ease.
People forget how goo Jirov was at Crusier.
Dont let one win convince you Mormeck is that good. Just before this fight he struggled badly with a 70 year old Virgil Hill.
Well jirov is really good but physically would be weaker and smaller. Mormeck could absorb his power body punches and nail him back..Mormeck by late KO in a classic war.
I'd rather see Jirov moving back at cruiser anyway, what the hell is he doing with the heavies?
Well ask the punchers who he has faced how hard it is to land a clean shot on him, namely Corrales..
Mayweather is going to make Gatti look like an old man..
People tend to forget how one-dimensional Gatti is when he ups the competition.
I totally agree...if mayweather is at 100% physically, with both hands healthy, the only gatti's chance is a lucky haymaker.
the rest will be a beating by FM from the outside
damn
good list..i forgot chopchop..he's like one of my favorites too..im a fool for putting rivera in his spot lol
Emmanuel Augustus/Burton : spectacular fighter, technically gifted and tough as gatti or Ward. Ward/Burton is really one of my favourite fights ever, if someone has it please upload
What a shame he couldn't be more focused and serious about training, he would be a world champ IMO
:boxing:
toney, mccall, tua
nards chin isnt in their league i donw think
pinaldino: tito didnt land flush on hops.
He was ducking most of the punches but some landed flush if I remember right..I'll watch it again and check it
There's nothing wrong with his chin but it's far from being the best in boxing with people like Hopkins, Toney, McCullogh, Morales and several others around. All these guys have faced bigger hitters than KT has without ever looking like being stopped. KT's been stunned by people like Urkhal and stopped by Phiillips.
Hopkins has a great chin, Tito landed bombs and nothing happened
the reason because of this
is because power punchers generate more leverage and most of the KO's they suffer are from their own leverage, it sounds weird but alot of guys get knocked out when they are coming in with their own punch
I agree...also I was wondering if their nervous system could have something to do with it. I believe everyone has his own percentage of fast fibers inside the muscles, which are fibers very quick to put in action. The higher the percentage, the bigger the natural power is, because of ability to accelerate a big mass of muscle. But maybe also it means your nervous system is more sensitive at the same time?
If anyone knows more about this he's welcome, I'm not a bilogist :D
You know why? Because of too much HYPING and PROMOTIONAL BUILD ups that turned out to be fluke . . . example? What happened to Menzi? . . . what happened to the Klitsckos? (excluding Vitali's latest victory). . . and aside from that people are getting tired of Fucki'n Don King.
You mean Joe Mesi maybe..yes he was hyped a lot but he's got health problems anyway

It doesn't say who he is fighting, but I am going to guess that it is a guy with one foot in the grave, if you know what I mean.
It also says that he weight 135kg, which is just under 300 pounds, and less than the 330 it says he weighed before.
So the question is, is this Mike Tyson wannabe who blew through the 15-20 Million he made in his career and has to fight, going to be anything more than a punching bag for a top 10 fighter?
I have no doubt that his next 4-5 fights coming back will be KOs, but can this "never was" be a "can be"?
At least he can be xciting!
When I watch Ruiz piling up boring performances I crave for a rematch with the Tua man :D
What did everyone think of Vitali's talk about the situation in Ukraine? I understand that it means a lot to him, and I respect that he uses his quasi-fame to try and drum up support for a noble cause, but I was a little baffled by his comments that he was fighting for the honour of Ukraine. Hard to see how a boxing match relates to a struggle for democracy, unless maybe he was fighting Vladimir Putin :D .
Anyway, I get annoyed when Hollywood stars tell us how to vote (even when I agree with their stance) and this doesn't seem to be much different from that. I suppose his position as a national figure might mean he feels he has a responsibility to speak out, though. Not sure about this one.
Yes "boxing for the honour of Ukraine" might be an awkward way to say he wants people to be proud of his country or something like that...he should not mix up his personal feelings about his country and his job
as for the rest I totally agree with you!
I would like to hear your opinions... Do you think a professional wrestler could make it in the boxing world? They are athletes, though it is a show, they do have to have power and stamina. They keep themselves in decent shape (for the most part) I do remember Alli taking on one that was an extremely boring match and it was Wrestler vs Boxer. I also remember Billy Gun from the WWF trying to make it as a boxer and a guy named Brian Clarke tried as well, neither went anywhere. I think a couple of them could, at least at the lighter weights. As far as HW, they may be so roided up and and bulky that they cant move quick enough. What do you think???
They have flexible bodies, big frames...that's about it!
Being a wrestler does not mean you have reflexes, nor speed, nor self control, not the mental ability to accept punishment to win. there are even good boxers who hate being punched and barely accept it, whatever there skills are.
And wrestlers are so big their stamina is shit and their muscles too stiff !
1. Did Tyson really blew his knee out in the fight with Danny?
2. How credible is the information that Tyson injured his leg? Was the injury serious?
3. Would Danny have beaten the Tyson that fought Lewis?
1. yes!!
2. pretty serious
3. I think so..
lewis isnt coming back for anything. he has done the right thing but people still complain. people beg for holyfield to retire yet they want a 39 year old lennox lewis to come back
u got that right buddy!
This will most likely be Shane's opponent on the Hopkins-Eastman undercard. It will be Shane's first fight back at 147. I think Hurtado is shot and Shane will dominate him and knock him out. At that point everyone will go crazy and say that Shane is back and that he shouldve never moved up. They will say that he will kill Spinks, Judah, and anyone who moves up from 140. I wont agree. I will just think that Hurtado is shot and Shane will still have problems with the top fighters. He's not young anymore, he's out of his prime and he is lacking confidence, and I say the exact same about Oscar. All these people think that Shane and Oscar could dominate at 147 but they are older and not the same fighters anymore
For Mosley I agree altough I cross my fingers hopig he'll prove me wrong coz I love this classy guy.
As for Goldie I would bet he could be at the top at 147...he looked crap only at middleweight, but looked terrific in his last outing at superwelter, whereas forrest beat the crap out of mosley!
After Winky beat Mosley, we all heard him call out Trinidad. He got his chance. When he was offered the fight he was offered 3 million, he said he wanted atleast 4 million. After some time Wright was offered 4 million. Now 4 million isn't enough and he doesn't want to fight in March. Time after time Winky comes up with an excuse. 4 million is more than he has ever seen before. If he's not scared, please tell me what I'm missing here.
We'll I think I have to agree...although I find it strange from Winky, I always had the feeling he was a true warrior in his heart (altough not in the ring)
The risk is high, but so is the reward so WTF
The point is that wasnt the same Vargas that lost to Oscar. If Vargas never faught Tito then he wouldve beaten Oscar. He hasnt looked like shit sine the Tito fight and was shot before he even got to Oscar
Well I don't think he would have beaten DLH at superwelter limit anyway...we'll never be sure of that but watching closely that fight I see Oscar being better in every departement (except raw power). I think Tito'fight made him discover what fear and doubts are, but didn't ruin him physically speaking.
Had vargas fought dlh prior to Tito he would have been better mentally, probably more determined and confident while attacking, but now way it would have made him avoid all those sharp accurate combos from Goldie. Dlh science took him out, not Tito this time
But you could also argue Vargas would have KO him, and that could be right too ;)
Germany Color Line Arena, Hamburg - Fabrice Tiozzo vs Dariusz TIGER Michalczewski for the WBA Light Heavyweight Title??
Who's win??
It Tiozzo can make the weight long enough before the fight he's got his shot...but if he falls agin into his weight problems and has to dehydrate for the weigh-in the Tiger will eat him.
I'll root for Tiozzo anyway I love the guy ;)
man that's strange what you are doing here....you take the most horrible guy to watch-for us on this forum at least-and you defend himself by saying some of us are stupid.
and you say it in a very pretentious way
not the best way to enter the forum IMO but you do what you want
