If Jirov decided to move back down to crusier and was comfertable at the weight, who do you think would win, why would he win, and how would the fight play out?

This fight is on the list of the fights I most want to see in 2006.
Jirov wouldn't get hit like Braithwaite did, and unlike Big truck, he fights pretty well on the inside. Mormeck runs out of gas down the stretch, and Jirov, who won't be out of gas like Big Truck, will be able to take advantage of it. Big Truck showed no defense in that fight, that's why he got caught so much, Jirov won't do that. Just an opinion.
Being a Jirov fan(not a hugger), I must reply to this post. The fight against Toney was very close, I could not care less about the scorecards. Even Lederman had it a draw. The fight with Mesi, well I don't think I need to go there but it's obvious that Jirov lost the battle but won the war. The fight with Moorer was an easy one for Jirov. He was comfortably ahead but he got carried away and got koed, simple as that. In all three fights Jirov had his moments and he was close to winning all of them.
No question that they were competitive fights, but coming in 2nd place in a boxing match is not honorable, and it's hard to root for guys who can't handle the big-time, Jirov is an ESPN superstar but will always come up short vs. world-class competition, which means that he is NOT a world-class competitor, he is simply a good athlete who beats nobody's and loses to somebody's

well said
he was close in all 3
I love conversations about mismatches....
Mormeck KO 1
Jirov wasn't even good when he was good, I saw him struggle with Julian Letterlough in Reno a few years back, and I told everyone with an ear that when Jirov fights somebody with a pulse (Toney, Mesi, Moorer are the only 3 he's fought) that he'll get worked over, and that's exactly what DID happen, and exactly what WOULD happen if he fought a bruiser like Mormeck

Well, now that Cruiserweight is up to 200 lbs, I'd pick Mormeck. If it was still 190 then Jirov would have the nod. I think Braithwaite would kill Jirov as a 190 pound cruiser, too!
Boricua, I have to disagree here. I really think that Jirov would outwork Braithwaite and get a hard fought UD. Against Mormeck, I don't know. The guy is a tank. One thing to keep in mind is that Jirov might not be the same fighter he was some years ago. He's been in a couple of tough fights with Toney and Moorer and no one knows how he will do when he faces a solid opponent again.

I'm not sure, but I do know that my man Jirov is gonna get fucked up if he stays at heavyweight.

Well jirov is really good but physically would be weaker and smaller. Mormeck could absorb his power body punches and nail him back..Mormeck by late KO in a classic war.
I'd rather see Jirov moving back at cruiser anyway, what the hell is he doing with the heavies?
ye tru say, but at cruiser i'd pick jirov, he has excellent power, and body punches, he's ruining his career by staying up there with the big dudes
Jirov with ease.
People forget how goo Jirov was at Crusier.
Dont let one win convince you Mormeck is that good. Just before this fight he struggled badly with a 70 year old Virgil Hill.

Not a toss-up for me. I'd have Mormeck as a moderate favorite, about 7 to 5. I think he's somewhat faster than Jirov, has great power, and I feel his stamina is as good as, or better than, Jirov's. True, Jirov has more experience, but Mormeck seems to be pretty smart in the ring and experienced enough that it wouldn't be an advantage for Jirov. I'd actually pick it for a KO after round 8 in Mormeck's favor, but a decision win wouldn't surprise me...Jirov has a great chin and alot of heart, and would continue if at all possible.

I have been positing this question for days, for me its a toss up fight 1-1 odds. They both have good chins, Mormeck has more power and speed, Jirov has the edge on Stamina and big fight experience, I woudl go with Mormeck. Not a good fight to bet on though its a peck em for me.
