man jermain taylor got shot quick
Dude... No kidding... That was sad... I mean if hes not shot... he just had a bunch of really tough fights back to back...
Never saw that coming with his wins over Hopkins
Why don't Berto fan's admit it already,Berto asking for 50/50 was a duck move and inexcusable..Now dude is fighting Ortiz,I can't wait for the post fight interview when Maxi leans in and ask Berto who's next..I bet he say's Pac and nobody else, dude think he's gonna get a big payday without earning it kid is a joke...
I agree... Dude should fight up to a Pac fight.... Give him to Cotto Next..
There are two kinds of shot fighters physically and mentally.
To me when they can't pull the trigger they're mentally shot more than physically.... For instance I think that Roy Jones became mentally shot after the two KO's He didn't get old overnight so I think those KO's were always on his mind... He lost his confidence... Mentally Shot..
Physically Shot. When they go a long hard fight with the same vigor and skill level they used to....
Lets list names....
To me... Oscar Del Lahoya was shot when he fought Manny.... His body just couldn't do it... Reflexes were gone....
Many people claim that Cotto is shot but I don't think hes shot just aging and slowing.....
Margarito May be shot.... Based on his fight with Manny....
Mosely is shot..... like Oscar... His youthful stamina and reflexes are no longer.
Don't Think Hatton was shot... Just got his ass beat by Floyd and Manny.
Lets say that Calzaghe and Floyd lost a couple of fights when they were green contenders, do you think that would of allowed them to take more risks later in their careers? When you have been undefeated for a long time it can make you overly cautious about losing that 0 later in your career
Thoughts please?
Of course he avoided them... If Manny looses his next fight Floyd would claim that Manny if off the radar now.... I firmly belive he retired to avoid Cotto and Margarito And Tszu
Haven't seen it in years but it was on a stacked PPV. Forget who was the main event. I believe Pea and Chavez (and Nelson as well) were on that same card. Back then I thought Norris was unstoppable.
Norris was a killer. I was shocked when Simon Brown beat him.....
Marquez is a boxing phenom with a good chin and no sign of aging. Marquez all the way....
I picked Marquez against Juan Diaz and everybody said I was crazy. Would be a great fight.
The Cotto fight is what killed it for Floyd. That's when he realized he didn't want any part of Pac.
Floyd doesnt like to fight. If he was as rich as he says he wouldnt fight again. Floyd has ducked Cotto, Margarito and Pac....
He don't want any part of rough fast pace fight. And damn sure don't want one with a southpaw....
So cottos career has come down to mistakes?
I think he would have done better if he had a good trainer back then.. He had a young trainer that knew less about boxing than him. Cotto's best bet was to box pacquaio. He has a brilliant jab. Used it to beat Mosely. But mixing it up with Manny is a bad idea for anyone.
Having said that.. It's also really hard to keep Manny at bay. I think with the right strategy he could have done better but not won the fight.
The guy has only really been hit by Mosely and he got pretty weak knee'd from it. But he weathered it pretty good. I would say middle of the road chin...
Two things amazed me about that second round... First how well Mayweather was able to clinch and wrap up mosely. Second that Mosely just gave up after that... Should have been throwing that right hand all night long..
I want to believe that margo didn't cheat in the cotto fight, cotto just had the wrong gameplan, well see in the rematch
Plaster or no plaster. Cotto hit him with everything he had and Marg kept coming. Now if Cotto started backing off becuase he was getting hit with bricks.. This may have led to him not finishing with a decision.
The key is not to mix it up with Margarito.. Cotto could outbox him all night long. He should do just that. I'm sure Emanuel Stewart has the same idea.
its one thing to get brutally beaten..but i bet fighting floyd has to piss you off..you cant hit him then he just pot shots your ass and pisses you off even more...kinda like fighting a lil fukker you cant catch..frustrating
No kidding.... He's got so much talent in the ring if you're not an elite fighter hes gonna potshot you to death and if you're a danger he will just shoulder block you and outpoint you. I watched the Gatti fight a couple weeks ago. It was like Floyd was beating an infant.
I would say... A bunch of good talent but some great fights won't happen due to some primadonna champions and greedy promoters.
If mayweather says out of jail he better fight somebody legit or he will be forgotten in just a couple years.
I love it when a fighter comes into the ring just knowing they're gonna win.. So arrogant and then they get beat down....
Two fights come to mind..
1. James Toney Vs Michael Nunn
2. Antonio Demarco Vs Edwin Valero
It was probably a little early stoppage but the KO was certainly coming....
Lopez is way too easy to hit... Shows no maturity when it trouble... He should have clinched, boxed and stayed away... He swings away with head wide open....
Imagine what Gamboa would have done to him.....
Solido is badass!
I think Froch is one tough SOB.... Gotta give credit to Jermain Taylor for putting him down...
Gotta give Froch credit for getting up and finishing him off.
yes but it depends on Cotto's options as he may want to fight Martinez as well
Vegas is what I heard as being the favorite. New York is all but out due to tax issues there, and NJ is probably 2nd on the list
hard to say considering both have lost some steam of their fastball but based on each's last fight there may be too damage on Margarito
same as last time Cotto will have to box, Margarito will have to pressure and withstand
Cotto- if he wins 1-2 more fights at 154 then Martinez at 160. If he loses maybe one more big fight
Margarito- if he wins 1-2 more fights period. His team want him to end soon
Pretty much says it all!!!
Like I said since day one: If Manny is clean like he says, taking any test shouldn't be a problem, should it? In particular when $40million is on the table. Simple logic. Manny has yet to come up with a good excuse as to why he hasn't accepted the tests.
And I'm sorry, but "I'm afraid of needles." isn't going to cut it. Manny, Bob Arum, and Top Rank are highly suspicious if you ask me.
The only people that claim Manny is doping are:
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Roger Maywether
And You idiots
I'd be more choosy of who I side with.....
At one time Floyd was the best on his way to becoming the greatest, then he lost his hunger and his balls. Now he's just a punchline.
It's true, although he has some really hardcore fans Floyd is disliked by the majority of the public (look at the polls here) and nearly 100% of the media.
I'm pretty sure he didn't get mentioned one time on this weeks Gamboa /Solis HBO telecast. He's 50% faded from memory... He has no legacy......
Cotto Vs Margarito,
I slowly watched him fade and take that awful beating. It was terrible watching his family cry. Cotto Is such a professional and a gentleman. I remember watching him walk to the dressing room as if nothing happened.
I know that you cant measure fighters by common opponents but.... Lopez Barely escaped the Rogers Motagwa fight on his feet while Gamboa Destroyed him... For what it's worth.
I've only seen Lopez fight twice and thought he was a well rounded boxer but nothing spectacular.
Gamboa would win this easily by decision... Could win by KO if he cares to get wreckless.
The whole boxing scene is pretty pathetic right now in terms of promoters protecting their fighters. Theres plenty of good fights out there at WW. Berto just hasnt fought any of them. It's time for him to get in with someone capable.
Ortiz is a good fight to prove himself. I respect Ortiz for climbing back from that KO and hope he dishes one out to Berto.
Thats what I love about Cotto.... He's gone into the fire many times....
