If someone asked you to describe the current stat of Boxing how would you respond?

I'd tell em,espn's friday night fights & showbox the new generation are stronger than ever.Pass on all ppv,they are mismatches.If u like more drama than good fights,subscribe to hbo.If U prefer good fights,showtime has em on friday & saturday.

If I'm watching then it must be good :cool: Too many fagg-ts watching though. like today i log in and there's like 3 threads on the first page about martinez, but they all revert back to mayweather/pacquiao. But all in all, it's alright right now. I'm the kind of fan that enjoys fights and doesn't expect too much. Just give me good styles match-ups, and I'll be alright. That's another thing, there are literally too many queers out here. Too many of these fake boxing fans, always got something to ***** about, you either like the sport or you don't - you either like fighter A or you don't, why the f-ck are you in this thread *****ing, again? But it's like I said, I'm watching then it must be aight :cool:

A lot of really great fighters, but politics get in the way of the best fights.

I'd tell them that Cotto/Margarito II is happening in July and that fight will solidify everyone's love for boxing.

I don't know how old the rest of you are but the truth is, boxing is nowhere what it used to be. Every decade has had it's defining fighter, in the 50's - Marciano, 60's - Paterson, 70's - Ali, 80's - Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Leonard, 90's - Oscar De LaHoya, and now the 2000's - Pacquaio. Once Pac retires, I think there will be a void left and that's why young fighters like Donaire and Canelo are being hyped as much as they are IMO. In the 70's and 80's, boxing was one of the biggest sports in the world and it's champions were more recognizable than any other athlete in the world. I think there's been a significant decline in talent going into boxing, especially in the heavier weight classes. More and more American athletes specifically are playing football, basketball and other sports instead of going into boxing. When I was growing up, becoming HW champion of the world was the most prestigious title you could have in sports, now it's about 10 other different sports and then comes boxing. Thank God for cultures like Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Eastern Europe and the Philippines as of late because if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have many good fights to watch. I love boxing and it isn't dead like some think but it's definitely not the same as it once was, anyone over 35 can tell you this.

I also feel the current state is okay but it just seems everyone is obsessed with talking about Mayweather vs. Pacquiao people who dont even know anything about Boxing or watch out just want to see that fight.

Too much emphasis on one or two mega fights (pac/may and haye/klitsch) and maybe too much focus on certain fighters being the next best thing. I know the sport will always need the elite boxers for the casual fans to show interest but theres loads of talent in alot of the divisions. If the media/fans focus on a few fighters (fanboys) then it gives the impression that other division are bs because there is no attention being given to them. I like the the state of boxing atm, a year or two ago this forum was totally dominated by the pac/may fight that it almost gave the impression that no other fights existed. Id rather the whole calibre of boxing increase rather than having "stars" of the sport shine out. Cool thanks man that is what I was looking for.

I would say... A bunch of good talent but some great fights won't happen due to some primadonna champions and greedy promoters. If mayweather says out of jail he better fight somebody legit or he will be forgotten in just a couple years.
