Lets say that Calzaghe and Floyd lost a couple of fights when they were green contenders, do you think that would of allowed them to take more risks later in their careers? When you have been undefeated for a long time it can make you overly cautious about losing that 0 later in your career
Thoughts please?
He fought Shane when Manny wanted no parts of him.
He fought Oscar at 154.
All tranny does is cherrypick in-house bums and Floyd's leftovers.
Why are you so obsessed with Pac? This thread has nothing to do with him
This fool actually put Joe in the same top as Mayweatther..
Stop being childish
Pac is the most overly cautious thing in boxing.
It's not enough most of his opponents have been KTFO or looked like crap...they have to drain down on top of that.
Why are you talking about Pac in this thread?
green contenders?
Before they hit their primes, like say Calzaghe lost his 10th pro fight.
I think we need to understand your definitions a little beter.
My definitions:
Green: peak reflexes, but don't have the experience to use them to their full ability
Prime: Peak reflexes and have the experience/skill to use them
Past Prime: Reflexes on the slide
Shot: Reflexes gone, constantly getting hit and shouldnt be in the ring
not sure of the point because either way, its weak.
If you are not sure what my point is how are you then able to judge it?
jocal took more risks later in his career, floyd was much riskier early in his career.
Floyd could of done a lot more post Castillo II
What risks did Calzaghe take, outside of Hopkins?
why fight the best if you are just gonna win anyway? you are the definition of a great boxing fan.
Margarito is 3-3 since 06 yeah that screams the best challenge; nobody was screaming for Paul Williams fight til after Floyd retired the the first time and Cotto was the only one who he should have fought it who would have been a whitewash.
Get the fucck outta' here with that shiit.
Pudwell was never the best from the USA at the time or any time.
If pudwell was not the best usa had to offer who was?......Byron Mitchell?.......
they both lasted 2 round:crackhead
tocker pudwills was a ok fighter best from the usa at that time fought calzaghe and ottke
actually this guy was.

hopkins and armstrong lost their first pro fights and they fought into their 40s. if they were undefeated they would have retired long ago to protect their flimsy undefeated records. monzon lost 3 fights early on in his career but when he became champ he challenged himself. all 14 title defenses were against top 5 guys besides napoles who was the number 1 welterweight. if he was undefeated he would have fought a bunch of tocker pudwills.

floyd waited till the best fighters lost and then fought the lesser guys. he's the master of triangle theory. it would be similar to if sam peter beat wlad then haye jumped at the chance of fighting peter. congrats you waited till the dangerous guy lost and then became an opportunist!
true, but he did fight diego and jlc. (we won't talk about stevie j, spaddy, and casa)
but yes, that has been his MO later in his career.
baldo was a total joke of a fight. gave floyd great outs against his real challenges. something he's proven to alyways be looking for

u cant fault him for fighting baldo. he needed chips in order to negotiate an oscar match and baldo was lineal champ at ww. that was the right decision. he could have fought margs tho, no doubt. that would have been better than fighting judah at least. but going on to fight oscar made him blow up. and did he duck cotto??? kinda hard to argue he did or didnt. i dunno what was on his mind when he retired, but if he legitimately wanted to stop boxing, that was his right. the pac thing tho is the most inexcusable avoidance. we'll see wat happens.

Floyd could of fought Margarito instead of Baldamir
Calzaghe should of moved up to lhw much sooner. He should of fought Pavlik instead of shot Jones and he definitely should of fought Glen Johnson before he retired
Your right he should of fought margo but i think it was seen as a big risk/small reward....

Of course he avoided them... If Manny looses his next fight Floyd would claim that Manny if off the radar now.... I firmly belive he retired to avoid Cotto and Margarito And Tszu
I reckon it wud do the world a favour for some fighters to have lost because some are avoiding and hand picking fights in order to stay unbeaten which is not good for the fans! Some fighters have actually received more praise and have raised theyre profile for how they have lost a fight compared to some fighters winning against not so strong opponents.
so??? he also demanded a fight with dlh. he went out and got it rite??? he wasnt just blowing hot air.
as far as the baldo thing, floyd went to get lineal and he got it. its a huge bargaining chip, p4p is make believe, lineal is real life. it sells fights. u cant compare the two.
he didn't price himself out against hoya. he took short money. against cotto he priced himself out and demanded a sum that was nearly impossible to generate. then when cotto was at 147 he never wanted to make the fight even though it was a huge fight and would have made him lots of money. cotto lives too far away, he's not the CEO of his own company, retirement etc...
i'm pretty sure being the number 1 p4p fighter in the sport sells more tickets than being lineal otherwise why isn't zsolt erdei a ppv star? if zsolt was p4p number 1 you better believe people would pay attention.
wasn't being the number 1 p4p fighter in the sport enough chips?
he demanded a 10 million guarantee when his previous career high was 5 million. cotto was still at 140 at this time and fighting on hbo undercards. talk about pricing yourself out. when we factor this in with floyd making up a bunch of excuses and retiring when cotto moved up to 147 and the fight would have made huge money it looks pretty solid that he ducked him.

Lets be honest for a second who really thinks Kotzu,Cotto or Margirito or Paul Williams would have beat Floyd if so explain how and I will debate back on how Floyd would have beaten them.

If I remember correctly Judah gave Baldomir the shot as a warm up for his fight with Mayweather which was already a done deal. Outside of Judah and a questionable win over Clottely who has Baldomir beaten?
Titles don't mean much these days, its the quality of your opposition that really matters
It was a barren wasteland, if you want a legacy you have to go where the top level competition is. Think Hearns at ww after the Leonard fight.
Not really, they would of been weight drained
If you look at his title defenses only one of them is against a decent opponent, Kessler.

if wifebeater and cokezaghe lost a couple fights earlier in their career, they'd still be fighting now trying to try to erase that loss by fighting the best fighters out there instead of fighting bums and overmatched opponents.
