I seriously doubt its the weight issues(I know for sure Vargas has been in training for a long time before they even announced the fight.)

I remember the TNF days, they also had some horrable fights. One comment i still remember from one of the announcers is, "if you're still watching this, then you are truly a boxing fan." But they did have some great fights too. And i do remember see a lot of kos. And i liked how somtimes name top fighters would fight on there card against a proven fighter on there network and then most times the name fighter just walked through the other guy when i was expecting a tough fight. I came to know Charles Brewer from watching TNF. And if you know his story you know it is a great one. I remember him on TNF regularly fighting. I also remember him winning for a good period then he lost one, then another one. Then he said he would retire. Then I hear he is boxing again and does really good, I think he won a title, but i know after his comback, he really made big noise in his division. And this is a guy that was ko'd twice on TNF.

it's funny the one guy you remember is Charles Brewer. I remember brewer because it was a great to see him come back to boxing after two failers and then then become really succesfull. I also remember Jermey Williams 15-20 second ko. Barrera-Agapito Sanchez classsic brawl. I missed when MAGO was fighting. Then i also remember a regular fighter that was out from prison had that tyson style don't know what happneed to him, i thin i remember he lost. I remember a few other too on there Junior jones, orlando canazales, "thunder" somthing the heavyweight, butterbean always fun to watch, i remember looking forward to Hopkins defence on tnf but hopkins really stunk out the place and a host of other fighters.

I think it''s going to be harder for the winner of this season to gain fans just because if someone like Sam Soliman wins, it still the exact same Sam Soliman we knew a year ago. I aggree but i think sooner or later soliman will lose to one of these contenders

Williams fans are Margarito haters!

Williams hasn't fought yet cause he took a beating in gettting a close decision to a fighter many here discredited but are quick to credit williams for beating this man(margarito). Theres an interview on youtube with williams and williams face looks are bruised and bumped. He is probably still feeling the brusis that margarito gave him. I don't know if he'll be the same fighter after his fight with Margarito, but if he fights Margarito again he get ko'd.

I got floyd by decision. Hatton best shot is to ruff up floyd like castillo did and bomb away especially at mayweathers body and if hatton comes in straight forward on floyd he is going to get taged by floyds straight punchs. Should be a good fight but it will be up to hatton to provide the action cause floyd is just going to counter punch all night long.

Yes, he did. Mayweather picks his fights we all know that. His objective is not to fight the best and prove to the fans who the best is. But i give him credit for the Delahoya fight, still Margarito would have given him hell no matter how you put it.

the fact that you're faster, more instinctive, more composed, and in much better shape, and less likely to fatigue from straight up nervousness makes you more than a match for 90% of the trash out there. it's the man, not the style. throughout the sport's history there have been plenty of boxers who grew up rough and were notorious brawlers before they found the sport. even an old dempsey who started off beating the shit out of would-be rapist hobos, still knocked the shit out of a pair of muggers when he was already an old man. flip the switch and a great boxing phenom like hamed who grew up in the gym was known to have his ass handed to him in pubs (in his defense, the guy was only a FW). stylistically, boxing is still among one of the best and most practical forms of defense (but surely not the only). you can go into details, but even all of these "reality defense programs" for your every day housewife still incorporate traditional boxing into their arsenal. In the past i've mentioned that Vargas was a street fighter and would get in a fight with many that looked at him the wrong way or said some stupid shit. And people act like Vargas attitude is just an act, but Vargas was a type of guy who would fight you in a second and walked and the talk. But for some reason people that don't know or where around Vargas, don't belive this, but Vargas was down to fight whomever.

I try not to get into street fights. I have though when I was young and stupid and they didnt last too long and its a bigger mess than you hope to bargain for if someone gets hurt. Someone out there can have your number as well or a gun. My brother and his best friend both boxed as well and they've been in multiple street fights, bar fights that I have heard were ugly. I tell em to keep it in the ring because they could hurt somebody and it ain't worth the trouble. Against a regular street brawler boxing should come in handy. If you fight someone that maybe has wrestled or can put you on ground and split you up it would be hard if all you got is hands. How many people you meet in the street study, know, or compete in mma though? How many people you know, know how to throw a proper punch? Alot of wannabes though. Last gym i was at. My teammate kept getting into street fights. He'd win, but his would end up messing up his hand or hands and could train for a few days. Supposedly a liscensed boxer, by law, his hands are leathal weapons, i belive this goes for both amature and pro. At the same gym, a couple of boxers ended up in and out of juvinal hall/jail because they wouldn't back down in a street fight. One of them i expected to hear from him now as a pro, but instead i hear that he gets in a lot of street fights and this guy was another Oxnard top usa amature boxer, i remember at one time for his weight he was ranked number 8 in his division in the usa amature boxing.

In a real street fight technique is secondary. Will to win and willing to do whatever it takes will determine the winner. Grab objects to use as weapons, strike the eyes, throat, groin, back of head, bite, scratch, anything to win I don't think i could do all that shit to win but then who knows. But i know a friend who's only 5'2 very stocky guy, strong build. He's a really good street fighter, one of my brothers went to school with him and he has told him this guy could hold his own and more. This friend once told me, "i'll box a guy if he's the same height as i'am, but if the guy is taller then me i'm going to put him in the hospital, hey, im a small guy, i have to hurt you quick." Then he went on to show me some street tactics, and this guy is a good boxer too. Me personally, i havn't been in many street fights, my fights happened when i was younger. I had a certain look and hang around some heavy people so most people would think twice about picking a fight with me. But when you are older, you don't care to get in a street fight at least i don't unless i can't avoid it. As a boxer and i think most boxers know what they can do and don't need to prove it to no one unless they have to.

When i first seen Diaz on espn in one of his early fight less then 10. I thought within time he will wear out fights with his multiple punchs. But damn, i didn't think he would be as dominate as he has been. Its great to seee a fighter surpass all expectations. I hope he goes even further, he is all class. WIth that said, he is going to have a tough fight with Julio Diaz. Diaz don't mind going toe to toe, he's sparring plenty of times with his brother Antonio Diaz was a good fighter himself. Diaz v. Diaz is going to be a great fight.

I've been there many time with espn classic. Last week they were going to show Meldrick Taylor v. Buddy McGirt, yet they had a football game one, at the end of the football game they said boxing was on next, bullshit, they then had basketball. Im with you on the boycott.

Early going in his career he always went for the ko and most time got it. What people seem to forget is how much crap Delahoya used to get for walking into the ring smiling even against some of his toughest test to date. Which is weird cause Pacquiao comes smiling into the ring and no one says nothing. Of course now a days other fighters do the whole smiling thing into the ring. But back when Delahoya was destroying opponets and smiling while walking into the ring people didn't like that from him.

he needs to go up in weight, as you get older you can't stay at the same weights as when you first start fighting. if you do your body gets really weak and you won't be able to take punches like castillo in the hatton fight. Castillo went up in weight for the Hatton fight.

Holt just exchanged with Torres too many times, either way i think Torres would have got to him as he did late in the rounds. Now i see why Holt wants the belt around his waist but is not to eager to fight Torres again. Torres said he is looking to fight Hatton but since Hatton is fighting Mayweather he will fight anybody, and is still looking to fight Cotto again.

No robbery Torres clearly won the fight by stoppage there was nothing wrong with the reffere in the way he did his job. In fact if you want to call it a bad reffering job then you can see in round 11 i think it was Holts glove touch the canvas, an automatic knockdown. Holt didn't dominate Torres he may have been leading by a point or two but no way was he dominating Torres before he got ko'd. And it was a good stoppage Holt was hurt. Torres pressed the action. Holt was on his bicycle most of the fight and when he had Torres hurt he wait too much and he should not have exchanged punchs with Torres. What heart and conditioning Torres showed by gettting up from that knockdown wow, what a punch by Holt too bad he didn't go after him right away or when Holt had Torres hurt in round 10 or 9 at the end of the round and the following round Holt doesn't follow up to see how hurt Torres was. Good fight, lots of drama. But Torres did win fairly.

He was a good fighter, rushed cause of his eye and because he was looking very vulnerable in each outing. He took the title from a tough european fighter and defended it against a fighter that beat Terry Norris and who also fought Winky Wright. He lost to Kirino Garcia but got the decision. He was beating Trinidad but then Trinidads power came into play, but he gave a great showing against Trinidad.
