according to boxrec, rigo has a 2.5" reach advantage but when I look at them it doesnt seem like it at all. I dont think loma's arms are unusually short but they list them at 65.5" vs 68" for rigo. They also list loma as 2" taller but I thought the size difference was bigger. Loma looks like he has a better reach advantage maybe because he looks like he has longer legs.
I want to see them side by side in person. I pictured Loma staying outside using his height and combinations, movement ect to outbox rigo. If they are closer in size and loma drops his output and fights Rigo's fight (a slower pace chess match) then he is in trouble.
http://photo.boxingscene.com/uploads/lomachenko-sosa-weights%20(5).jpg
Loma got some short arms, and if you look Loma got some long neck, which get him a height closer to 5'7 and Rigo closer to 5'3, they just round the numbers, the difference in height is closer to 4 inches, 3 for sure.
As a Houston Rockets fans I know a guy like Yao had short arms for basketball even when he was over 5 inches taller than Shaq he only have about 2 inch of standing reach advantage due to having a smaller Wingspan.
One look at Ortiz and you can clearly tell he's juicing.
Still, fuçk Ortiz for not disclosing and fuçking this fight up
Bro, Joshua body look like is juicing, Ortiz body is not. More like a Typical old Heavyweight body. Big with a bunch of fat.
Lazaro Alvarez deserved the decision over Oumiha too. And if Larduet was competing he would have had a great chance of winning gold at super heavy. Plus Robeisy was absent. Cuba is such a strong team
Edit: Oh and Arlen got robbed in the quarter-finals. Although he still didn't look great and probably wouldn't have beaten Khyzhniak, who has been a man on a mission this year
Arlen was hugg to death by Amankul which make the fight very hard to score. Khyzhniak style is not like that would have been a great fight to see
GGG does not fight like Hurd.
Angulo fight Lara was hurt way more than vs Hurd.
But GGG do not fight like Angulo nor Hurd.
GGG is not 6'1 nor have a longer reach that Lara like Hurd had.
Even tho Lara stayed in the pocket and other that the cut did not got hurt vs Hurd high volume punching and 12 round coming forward attack.
Loooooool. No.
loooooool. No. Try again.
I know who Lara will definitely be better than....
and that's Canelo.
Man that fight vs Mayweather was not even Espn Level, it look like Lara-Rodriguez out there, but instead of Rodriguez was Canelo who got outclass so bad I was feeling sorry for him.
Man this Canelo is the king of boring fights.
Canelo-Trout snoozer, the guy got tired half way into the fight, what a shame.
Canelo-Wayweather a total domination with no excitement from Canelo at all, even Mayweather have to move forward against this guy.
Canelo-Angulo The guy need the refs to stop the fight could not finish a damage goods boxer who came for a Check Boring ass fight.
Canelo-Lara Wow all the talk from the fans and Angulo put a better performance than this so call new face of boxing, hit the ropes more time than in the Mayweather fight. Can someone tell why people pay to watch him?
Canelo-Kirkland Finally, they have to bring an exciting fighter to make a show, because for all we know Canelo can't do it on his own.
One of the most boring stars out there. He think he is a boxer but he is slow and flat footer, think he is brawler but can't cut the ring, think he is a high volume puncher but have no stamina. But man he looks good against the heavy bag (for a short period of time) I will pay money to see him fight a heavy bag (for no more that 3 rounds, no stamina) That will be exiting, he is tailor made for bkb, but for boxing... no so much.
Conor McGregor walks around between 185-190. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has stated he doesn't need to cut to make 145-150. That's the only interesting statistics I can find when talking about this 'fight'.
At 5'9 the only way to walk 185-190 is if you are fat or muscle up.
A fight ready Mc Gregor will not weight more than 171 lbs fight night. Hard Punching Canelo weighted about that when he fought Mayweather.
Has Lara stopped fighting and gotten stripped or is Lara active? Lara's job is to fight and win. He's not a promoter. He's holding up his end of the bargain. Rigo was turning down fights and got stripped and then complained everybody is ducking him. There's a difference between fighting and just not able to cross over and not fighting at all.
When did Rigo turn down a fight?
Everybody in the division left to avoid him. He has to go to japan to fight.
Again what fight did Rigo turned down?
Lara is good but he's levels below Floyd in terms of boxing. He's a tricky customer for flat footed fighters like Canelo, thats about it.
Is not about levels, Lara is bigger with longer reach boxer, that if you don't pressure him, he will pick you apart from distance.
Is a match up and weight class issue. Mayweather won't be able to counter from distance a guy who got longer reach and don't trow more the 2 punches at a time and move. So Mayweather will have to initiate and get in dirty, taking his counter punching advantage away.
It will not be a fair fight because they are not in the same weight class, but if it happen I'll have my money in Lara.
Styles make fights.
Yeah you missed a lot. Decubas first admits theyve never contacted Gggs people to try to make it happen, then last month he said Loeffler approached Haymon about Lara, and Decubs started giving excuses like "Lara commands aot of money, this fight won't be easy to make"
So basically I miss nothing, GGG haven't offer ****, and I saw that video too and he did not mention any money they been offer because they haven't.
All he did was dispelled the myth they have to make the offer, he clearly said they can make the offer with Pbc showtime money but is GGG who is in a HBO contract so he is the only one who can send the contract and they haven't.
So again when did they offer Lara a million to fight, the answer NEVER
What? Did I miss something?
When did GGG camp made an offer to Lara?
Did Lara rejected the offer?
Nope, GGG is ducking Lara.
Your strawman post won't fix that.
Lara's manager Decubas already explained why this fight is not easy to make. I don't get why these fanboys still keep pushing for this fight when Lara's team itself is already hinting they will make the fight hard to happen.
What's else is there to discuss when Lara's camp is basically saying they don't want the fight and were just pretending they do.
Boxing is dying.
Nope Decubas said the fight is not easy to make because of GGG camp and their exclusive contract. So they can only hope for GGG side to send contract because they are the one tie to a network.
So is all about GGG camp, Lara camp wants it, now is GGG who need to take the first step, but it looks like they they want no part.
that would be a great fight. Gamboas a real classy fighter, even with a huge size difference he gave crawford problems.
I don't think that will happen, Bob Arum will not make the same Donaire mistake.
He protected Juamma before and only wanted to trow Gamboa to bigger fighters like Rios and after the breakup Crawford. Loma present no physical or speed advantage vs Gamboa and he will not take that risk.
boxing is in bad shape right now....
loma is being fast tracked to the 140-147lb division in order to take advantage of a deep and notable division if all the players that CAN be ACTIVE are activated:
return of floyd jr
pacquiao still there
marquez is still lurking around
that's 3 first ballot hall of fame ATGs.....
in the same division...
then you got in prime fighters who maybe arent top echelon future ATGs but are respectable young champs and contenders who have notoriety, and have fought named guys that can make for a great fight:
crawford
maidana
berto
ortiz
porter
thurman
garcia
spence
bradley
mathyysse
khan
there needs to be a super six welterweight tournament....
despite the crap boxing has been this year and over the years,
it still has so much potential....
http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/17258239/marcos-maidana-retires-age-33
Also you need to remember
Rigo Demands:
124 lbs catchweight- check With No Rehydration clause
Rehydration clause - check With 126 No catchweight with both accepted
700,000 dollars for rigo - check False. WHEN? It was 500k
Rigo Backs out and said "NOOOO Not enough moneh for me!" after Loma team agreed to all of his demands.
http://www.boxingscene.com/lomachenko-rejects-rehydration-clause-rigondeaux--93735
http://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/9914774/guillermo-rigondeaux-agrees-to-fight-vasyl-lomachenko-at-126lbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQExUHCZYlg
But does he? He's had a dozen fights and been flat on his back a few times already.
Floyd has had 47 fights, a lot of them top level title fights against big punchers and big names and never been dropped in the fashion Rigondeaux has. That is an amazing defence, even if you hate Floyd, that fact cannot be denied. Rigondeaux isn't on that level.
Then tell him to fight Lara the number 1 contender or GGG instead of flat footer slow fighters.
And tell Floy to stop cherry picking and picking opponent gloved.
BTW Floy got Rocked badly by same size fighter in Mosley and was holding the arms to save him for touching the canvas and had chicken leg the rest of the round.
Yes he has before... what's your point...
The masses of people on here aren't selling Wladimir as the GOAT although in comparison to Rigo he certainly must be.
How many loses are in Rigo record?
Have Rigo ever looked bad like Mayweather looked vs Castillo or Maidana?
Could you imagine the furore from the usual suspects if it was GGG that got dropped by a weak punch from a bum journeyman like that?
He will get knock down if he fight enough. Especially is he go out and start fighting 6.4 boxers with an equivalent 30 to 35 lbs heavier.
He definitely has a glass jaw. Kind of like wlad klitchko. You can tell they don't react well to getting hit on the chin.
Fortunately for rigo he has an amazing defense.
Yep he definitely don't react well, he just gets back up in less that 2 sec and brake opponent faces.
Did Wlad get up and finish his opponents after being knockdown?
Most likely because people talk about him like he's the most perfect boxer in the world. I also mention him being flat on his back more than once in his first dozen fight, but i only say it in jest to wind up the fanboys.
The truth is that he is a very highly skilled fighter but not pefect, like anybody else he is capable of being caught and dropped, it's boxing. So he isn't a perfect fighter and has some flaws like other fighters. If he was to get knocked out, i would be surprised but not shocked at all. I think it's very possible.
I suppose you when you look at it in context, love him or hate him, you have to admire that Floyd has fought 47 times, against some huge names and punchers yet he has never suffered a knockdown in the fashion Rigo has. That's incredible really.
And Rigo have never looked bad like Mayweather looked vs Castillo and Maidana.
And Rigo have never been fighting with chicken leg and holding for his life as long as Mayweather was vs Mosley. Holding onto his arm save him for touching the canvas.
Also Mayweather never try to face boxers 6+ inches taller than him on their home country at the age of 34.
And if size is not a problem he should definitely face Lara the #1 contender or GGG to see if his chin is so strong. Imagine if same size Mosley was able to rocked him what all these long boxers with power will do.
And what was the record of the first 12 pro boxer that Mayweather faced?
There is no reason for Loma to take this fight. It would be a step backwards.
A fight with Rigo is guaranteed to be a stinker. Part of Loma's marketability is that he is exciting to watch. No fighter with that kind of marketing angle wants to be in a stinker.
Beating Rigo would mean absolutely nothing to anyone apart from a fringe of Rigo's most rusted on fans. He is old and he is too small. Loma would get no credit.
Even worse if he had to lose weight to make the fight.
So for Loma:
* zero credit (except amongst a deluded fringe)
* missed chance to take on a real fight
* low paying fight
* screwing with going up and down weight
* guaranteed stinker; causing:
- reduced future marketability
- reduced future opportunities
- reduced future paypackets
The world is Loma's oyster. He is on track to be this generation's greatest, and there are fights which will lift him up there - like Mikey Garcia to begin with. A Rigo fight would be just plain stupid.
Holly ****, you even more scare that Lomachenko is of Rigo.
You wrote like the bible of excuses
Why is Rigo even talking? We already have enough information about why this fight didn't happen and it's totally his fault.
Rigo kept making one excuse after another. First it was the weight, then it was the money, then the rehydration clause then he wanted a catchweight and it was one thing after another. Whereas Loma just wanted to sign the contract and fight. We have those articles on boxingscene where his manager at the time, Gary Hyde was the one negotiating.
So he missed his opportunity and now Loma's profile is so much greater than Rigo's, he also has a better resume, and yes he is the A-side and has no reason to even consider moving back to 126 to fight him.
If he wanted Loma, he should've accepted the contract last year.
Yes we have enough information and the only thing that stop the fight from happening was Bob Arum and his weak as offer.
Every term was agree until Bob send that contract with some laughable numbers. And then Loma move on to fight the worst belt holder of the 130 lbs after taking the VACANT 126 lbs belt from another "never fought anyone" paper champion and will move to 135 to fight most likely Flanagan the worst 135 lbs champ for the once Again Top Rank, sorry WBO belt.
If is Wlad then Ortiz first, Wlad already KO Pulev.
if Joshua, I think he will chose Pulev next or rematch with Klitschko.
But I rather see Wilder or Ortiz get the shoot. Pulev had his before and fail.
Lol at this fanboys now loving boxing once GGG fail to deliver.
What now HBO are going to talk about how important is the Jab? lol they been ****ting on boxers for years in favor of KOs an brawlers. And casuals got brainwashed and calling boring other boxers wins.
Now that GGG two biggest test, Lemieux and Jacobs have been a snooze fest in the logic of HBO and casuals, they may talk about the importance of strategies and winning rounds and not taking unnecessary risk by fighting reckless to please the brainwashed crowds.
It's decisions like this that makes some casuals think our sport is no different than the WWE.
Guy out throws by over 200 and out lands by over 100 and loses a UD with the closest scorecard 8-4?
I saw a much closer fight with a clear and noticeable edge going to the guy doing the most work.
When are we going to have schools for boxing judges and referees?
When are we going to have the same type of critiquing of performance that officials from other sports undergo?
This stuff has to stop if boxing is ever going to be mainstream as it was once was...
Did you score the fight round by round or did you got influence by the commentators.
BTW Relik did not land that many punches unless hitting glove and guard count as landing.
I wasn't influenced by anything- I can see things for myself.
Hell, I went into it rooting for Barthelemy.
But Relich should have got that.
It was easy to score.
If you don't score each round as it own is easy to be fool by you own perspective.
Even when you rooting for someone the fact that the other guy was doing more that people expected can actually influence you decision, even more with a once side commentary.
For me I try to score on effective punching first and when is to close, sometime the guy who go the best punches landed get the nod, independent of what he did the round before.
Like after Relik knockdown and awesome all around round, the next round he decided to do nothing actually let Rance recover and I gave Rances that round just because a few more clean land shots. If I wasn't scoring I may think Relik won all those round base on 1 awesome one.
