if flloyd wanted to...even if matthew hatton fought with the best spirit in the world, the ref would have to stop the fight early on, sheer face damage alone. but flloyd might just run again, if jmm could only land 12% of punches thrown then matt-hatt would probably be landing about 7%. and flloyds would be landing 85-90%. its not fair to ask mayweather to fight this guy, its like when calzaghe got asked to fight that bum fighter from a reality show and pissed about for 3 rounds till it was called off.
de la hoya wins a pretty easy fight, the way i see it...if he can let pac punch him in the face for 7 rounds and not look hurt at all. then if he was fighting back in his prime its just a matter of time before a good shot wobbles pacman and the fight slowly comes to end.
simple answer - james toney - i watch boxing alot and sit round watching youtube footage of robinson, marciano, hagler, duran ect. and for sheer skill of boxing i would give it to james toney. he does what all boxers aspire to do. he hits without being hit and makes it look easy.
i heard once when foreman was on his comeback during the 80's that don king tryed to set up a match between tyson and foreman. the story goes that when asked what he thought, tyson replyed to don king "i aint fighting george foreman, that mans an animal."
in my eyes tyson is the same type of fighter in many ways to joe frazier, but slightly better. thats why i think tyson would beat ali, but also why i think he would get battered by foreman.
he used his natural ability to the best of his advantage. his unorthadox style ment he never had to really soak up puishment, he just moved away. also because he was never a power puncher, his low arms and foot movment helped to deliver punches with some real force behind them. and james toney is the better fighter anyway, if he had taken the fight seriously he would have ko'd jones.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler, walked through tommy hearns best shots, roberto duran, sugar ray leonard and out chined john "the beast mugabe" who had never lost before to name just a few. i've seen alot of his fights and have never once seen him on the floor or ever seen him wince from pain. i think he would take lamotta at middle weight aswell.
his mostly right, uk fighters seem to rely on physical attirbuties rather than skill. there are the odd exceptions, but america both north and south has proven over the years they have the higher class fighters.
pacquiao is the only fight i wanna see him agree to. i think martinez and canelo are too big for him. pacquiao fighting rios or alvarado is a mis match. just would love to see how pacman mayweather plays out, doesnt matter pacquiao got ko'd, its still the best fight out there. mayweather could fight canelo but i just think that its really a welterweight fighting a middleweight if that fight happens, mayweather can still win but it would be far the biggest and strongest guy he has ever fought, and canelo is patient and wont fade late on. mayweather probably has an easier fight if he fights martinez who is naturally smaller than canelo, more 1 dimensional and showing signs of getting old. if i was mayweather i would try for a martinez fight, but as a fan i would prefer to watch pac vs may.
the ref definately played a big part in the fight. i dont think it matters too much between 140 or 147 but for hatton to stand a fair chance he has to be allowed to fight his fight. its not like he throws his opponents around (klitchko) or uses his forearm alot (mayweather) he just likes to get close and stay close, similar to a mexican pressure fighter like rios. i think he had a decent chance 50/50 of beating mayweather with a fair ref. everyone knows you cant out box him so one way of beating flloyd is relentless agression and workrate which hatton had. i think with a fair ref that allowed hatton to keep close if would have been a closer fight and if it happened ten times 5/10 hatton wins, 5/10 mayweather wins.
james toney, i think he has a chance of beating the klitchkos, i think if he got a shot, and got himself into decent shape he good out box either klitchko for 12 rounds. but i would be fearing for him watching the fight.
i think its do-able, i think i could throw 5 punches a second for maybe 25-30 seconds. not power punches but ray leonard style with a pop on the last one. also valero is tiny his 5'6 so its gonna be easier for him than most.
iv only had one boxing match so far 3 x 2 minute rounds, and always thought in the back of my head whilst sparring with guys i think "if i was really trying to drop you i would" but then fighting for real its just so hard to land a clean punch. made me realize how important timing/reactions/setting up the punch is.
close fight, i would have probably had you ahead but i think some judges must like a tidy look more than work rate. i thought you looked good for first fight. i think if you mix it up with your counters to the jab more you'd have more luck countering him, instead of slipping to the outside of the jab everytime try slipping inside or ducking straight under. good luck in your next fight.
pacquiao is the only guy that has a decent shot at beating mayweather. hand speed, combos and the ability to fight 12 hard rounds, mayweather would definately have his work cut out and i honestly think amir khan gives mayweather more trouble than most people think, he would have reach and hand speed over flloyd, 2 things he relys heavily on. flloyd hasnt really got 1 punch ko power either but im sure he could drop khan with a sustained attack.
James Toney vs Gennady Golovkin at 160. Toney's only knock out loss.
toneys chins been tested when he was an old man fighting heavy weights, what makes you think golovkin could knock him out?
old school fighters vs mordern fighters.
jack dempsey vs carl froch...id pick froch because of better technique
mike tyson vs ali...id have tyson 3-4 round stoppage, ali struggled with smaller guys
george foreman vs either klitchko...id pick george because his george foreman
fighting james toney at heavyweight, both old school fighters, both should have fought earlier. be a quality fight to get interested in. he gains legacy if he wins both from beating a heavyweight and beating one of the greatest boxers of his generation. i think toney would turn up in shape (better shape at least) if he knew he was fighting hopkins. one last big pay day for 2 greats.
ugly fight, both wont land much of anything. i would go for toney since his won alot of fights not really in shape, where hopkins is well known for being in shape. if toneys in shape i think he beats hopkins. and i dont agree that toney has worse footwork than mayweather or hopkins, its just that he doesnt need to use footwork as much because his head movement and countering skillls are better.
its a big mismatch, rios will literally be lucky to land one shot, not a knock out shot, just land anything and pacquiao i doubt will miss hardly any. 3, 4 rounds 5 rounds tops rios will be either koed or tkoed. pacquiao would have to be on heroin for him to loose.
