There is no prerequisite to being a fan of boxing. You do not need to have boxed or even been inside the squared circle to enjoy or have an opinion about the sport.
I think it would be interesting to hear about your stories and exploits inside the ring and how they have given you a perspective as a fan.
So all boxingscene commentors please share your experiences here.
For me personally I learnt over time and hardship an appreciation, admiration and respect for all boxers through my experiences. I have been boxing and training since I was 8 years old.
I do and will always love the sport.
Watching pad work with James Degale was my pitiful highlight. It was just after he won gold at the Olympics and it was an eye opener. Seeing his fluidity and power first hand was remarkable and at the times a little scary.
I will never be and could never have been of any signifigance in real world and business of competitive boxing, nor will most who brave the hardest of sports. But I will always consider it a part of me and my life which is both positive and affirming.
Boxing has helped me and many others remain on the straight and narrow and away from the destructive and negative temptations that we all are faced with and sometimes vunerable to.
I know that many of you including me give various boxers a hard time for their performances and/or their choices of opponents but lets not lose sight of the fact that in this short life that we all have, what they do. And what they put on the line in the most literal sense, is more than most of us would risk even if we could... and thank them or at least appreciate them for their courage.
If watching boxing or doing boxing has helped you in any way, like it has for me, then I am honestly happy for you.
If you kindly took the the time to read this then I thankyou sincerely and invite you to please share your thoughts and experiences with and about the sport that we all love.
Thankyou Boxingscene and thankyou boxing.
nah it's more like being in a sex forum and asking if anyone's had sex
Or being in an alien forum and asking if anyone's ever been to a different planet.
Yes! And the first time I did it that is the longest 3 minutes ever OMG! lol
I would suggest any fight fan to just go spar at a Local Gym a little bit, it will change your mind about any boxer you ever disrespected or don't like
What these guys do is fukin HARD WORK! And it takes Hard Work to become one of the best in boxing, also a lot of self motivation, it is no teammates to have your back when you make a mistake like in Team Sports, your all on your own in that ring
5 fights, should have had more a few cancellations here and there. Trained boxing for about 3 years but off and on with injury and surgeries... then got into it for year and half had the 5 fights, reaggrivated my ACL which i tore 2 years prior and now just starting to train again after doing some physio.
If that is what you believe then good luck to you but please respect that there are those who believe otherwise, those who speak from their benefit of actual experience. And their opinions, just like yours should not be dismissed regardless of the site they are posting on.
Oh and I for one don't agree that they or anyone should keep their experiences, thoughts and opinions about boxing to themselves. Particularly given that that is the point of this thread.
Thankyou for your views in any case.
Haha ... He's being sarcastic mate.
Rock'in is one of the most experienced / accomplished boxers (or rather ex boxer) on the forum.
must be a weak ass neighbor hood if a 9 year old is whooping on some 16 year olds.
I might be exaggerating, they were probably closer to 12 yrs old. :)
I was pretty big/tall for my age. That helped as well.
yea i was 2-3 my cardio was terrible i just think if i used steroids i would have at least been 4-1 but really tho
i have the utmost respect for all these pro boxers its one of the hardest sports to be good at, so physically demanding good luck to anyone who choses this as a profession, i still sparr but cant go past 3 rounds due to exaustion...
im typing this from work.... at a desk
jt
Never stepped into an official ring, but when I was around 9yrs old my uncle use to make me fight the older neighborhood kids all the time with boxing gloves. Those kids were always older than me like 12 to 16 yr old.
My uncle made lots of $ betting on me with his homies. I only lost once I believe. I remember this one time when I was beating this one dude and his family came out the house and chased me down the street, his aunt and sisters.
Good times. :D
iv only had one boxing match so far 3 x 2 minute rounds, and always thought in the back of my head whilst sparring with guys i think "if i was really trying to drop you i would" but then fighting for real its just so hard to land a clean punch. made me realize how important timing/reactions/setting up the punch is.
That's like being in a jerk-off forum and making a thread asking if any one in that forum has ever jerked off.

I currently box I've had 9 bouts won 6 lost 3 which I'm pleased with . It's made me realise how disiplined you have to be to really succeed and it's also changed me a lot in that I live a lot cleaner than I used to I think it's one of the best things someone can do especially youngsters that are in and out of trouble
actual experience means nothing on this site, you'd actually just be better off keeping everything to yourself. Having watched fights on television or deep in the crowd garners more perspective than you'll ever get from being in the ring yourself (or being a trainer) just sayin'...........Rockin':boxing:
Yea like I should take advice from A Key Board Boxer
