There, fixed it for you.
Oh wow, very clever, love what you did there... You changed what he said. A real trend setter... Again a post from you with a) no facts and b) no class. You are a complete moron. Nothing you post is worth reading, it's a rant for no reason than your hate for Joe Calzaghe is too much to bear because he is one of the main men in world boxing right now. And well fixed too I must say. A real cowboy job...
Joe Calzaghe has beaten the best he could have faced. He destroyed Lacy. Now that he has beaten Lacy- before the fight happened fight fans around the globe predicted a Lacy win vis knockout. Calzaghe schooled him. Now that happened Lacy (who will be back on top if he beats Taylor) is now 'overrated'. Therefore there appears to be no point in Joe fighting Lacy. If he loses he will have lost but if he wins he loses as apparently now beating Lacy 'wasn't worth it'. Ridiculous. He was ducked at the last minute by hopkins in his prime (bona fide FACT) who only decided to fight Joe when he realised that it would keep his name up with the best. Once again Joe wins to have the old Hopkins cliams. I didn't want this figh to happen because I could see this coming a mile off. It was still a reputable fight which he did win- by 2 rounds no question. And what about Kessler? He is a better fighter than Pavlik. No question. Equally as good a brawler and twice as good a boxer. He is the future of boxing. I like Pavlik, a very honest (if predictable) come forward fighter. But he is overrated as he's been dubbed as alomost the USA's 'last hope'. There are other excellent legendary fighters too- Eubank, Woodhall, Sakio Bika, Robin Reid... etc, etc. When Calzaghe won his WBO Super-Middleweight belt RJJ had moved up to light-heavy. In order to get a possible (not nailed on) shot Calzaghe would have had to give up his belt (and thus paydays- essential for any man who struggles to pay their mortgage as Calzaghe was) and have a few 'warm up' light heavy fights. He has more defences than Hopkins and Joe lewis. And the more times I hear this 'he only fights in his backyard' from Americans the more annoyed I get. Why don't your fighters ever leave the USA? What's so special about you judges? They let American fighters win... wow, and them German's have the balls to let their favourate fighters win. Amazing. I don't happen to believe that American judges are biased however the shoe doesn't fit if the same thing happens on your home soil. Like Russia building nuclear weapons is shocking- America should be the only kid allowed its favourate toys. Joe Calzaghe to beat RJJ (Legend) by points- split decision (it's in the states).
Im not jealous of America. I feel that was a perfect analogy- lets see: some Americans believe that a true great heavyweight must be American. Not a 'Soviet' ala Wlad. Or any of the current top heavyweights. And b) that all fights 'abroad' have fixed judges. Apparently to stay in your own backyard is seen as cowardly. This is true. Then why don't many American boxers travel? Is this not the most laughable hippocritical piece of bullshit (appart from your post- which had nothing to do with being a constructive opinion) you've ever heard? It should be. Some people are just deluded...
I totally agree with Stickman. Manny is hittable and will possibly be weight drained so a knockout is Oscars only chance in my opinion. I think if manny keeps his speed a points win is right on the cards, very likely actually. However he has always had a suspect defence. Very suspect. Oscar lands that left hook too many times...? Goodnight Manny. But tbh I don't see anything but a Pacman points victory.
This is either a) a very funny joke or b) THE most stupid thing i have ever heard by Warren (who comes out with some rubbish). The man is a complete idiot who is still pissed that a) Haye laughed an offer to join Warren off and b) he destroyed enzo maccarinelli... (Who is a Warren fighter and Warren's only chance of 'getting back' at Haye).
Jones only has one chance to beat Calzaghe. That is too land a bomb which he is well capable of doing even though he's no 'power fighter'. Calzaghe is too quick now. His reactions are too good and going 12 rounds with Calzaghe is a hell of a lot different than dancing with a blown up Felix Trinidad. Don't get me wrong I wathed and and enjoyed that fight. It proved Roy can still tango but this is different. And too all the Calzaghe haters- the Calzaghe who beat Lacy and Kessler will/would destroy Pavlik. I like Pavlik, but he is a come forward predictable fighter. Kessler is twice the fighter Pavlik is. A muxh better boxer. No question.
No doubt the haters will be out in force. He beat Hopkins (by 2 rounds). Destroyed the next Tyson in Lacy. The only problem was that the RJJ fight wasn't needed. RJJ is my hero but he is past it now. Im sorry but he is. JC is unbeaten- a reason that he is hated so much. Best British boxer after Lewis.
People who hate JC sprout shit. Take this gob-shite here "not a real chapion until he beat Hopkins" as he had beaten nobody until then: Bollocks. Major League Bullshit. Lacy,Eubank, Reid, Kessler. Enough said.
I'd love this to happen. He would beat Dawson. People hate his style because it's so far proved unbeatable. I think it is amazing. Name a style which can adapt better to a fight than Calzaghe? I can't think of one. I can think of good adaptable fighters but nobody better.
I kinda agree. I mean Hatton got knocked the **** out by Floyd, then had a bad showing against Lazcano and then beat the feather fisted Malignaggi who managed to put up a decent fight against him, wasn't a cake walk. At the same time Manny has beat guys like Oscar, MAB, Morales, Marquez ( Legends ) and others. Hatton should just be quiet and accept what his drunk ass is being offered.
Sorry how wasn't the Malignaggi fight a cake walk? What did he do to hurt Hatton. He won one round. It was a horrible display. He was pulled out not because he couldn't last but because he wasn't doing anything. And Hatton has beaten Castillo, Kostya Tszyu (easily his best victory- a true great) and faced the P4P Mayweather who outclassed him. Fair enough. And accept what he's being offered? Do you realise what he brings from British PPV? And what does being drunk have to do with this?
I'd give a legend the credit he deserves. Serious question- will you give credit to Calzaghe if he wins? Or will we have the old 'a younger... would have beaten him'. All rubbish too. A younger Hopkins would have got well beaten against Calzaghe not the 2 rounds he lost by. Reason- he used to come forward and fight more. Fact. That is what Calzaghe is excellent against. Fact. It will be predictably interesting to see if these excuse used again once Jones loses.
Interesting- never beat any of the greats he got in the ring with. Did unite all the titles but if Naz Hammed can't get in for that why should Tyson? Out of ring circus means nothing in this context btw, neither does infamy.
Because he isnt american and he doesn't get in wars. His style is different and people dislike change. He has beaten all those who DARE step through the ropes with him. People mention Pavlik (a man who lost to Hopkins- Calzaghe's latest victory) and suggest Calzaghe ducked him, despite Pavlik rejecting two seperate chances to fight him. One after the Lacy fight when he became recognised in the USA. Hopkins pulled out of a fight 5 years ago after making his wage demands unrealistic having previously agreed a fee. He's hated because he'a a southpaw who has the skills to back up what he says. Fact. What you call arrogant I call confidence. People dislike Calzaghe being arrogant or confident but what about Ali? HUGE ego- but still loved. Imagine a boxer who didn't think he would win?
Juan Manuel Marquez is a better fighter than Pacman. In the first fight Pacman was brilliant in the first round and then faded. Mega style. Apart from the knockdowns Juan Manuel Marquez outboxed him and got a semi-result in a draw. A fair result and outstanding achievement having been knocked down THREE times in the first round. The second fight was a JOKE- Juan Manuel Marquez won by 2 rounds in my opinion and the showtime commentators were absolute clowns in their blatant favouritism of the Pacman- the darling of showtime. I hope he gets a least one more chance to right the wrong of the second fight
Look at Mike's record. The best fighters he beat- 1.Spinks. A very good fighter but no heavyweight. Still a first round KO is very impressive. 2. Larry Holmes. Was he too old at 39? Yes he was. 3. Bruno. Not really that great a fighter to be honest and the same can be said for Botha. Tyson consistantly lost to the best in his division e.g. Holyfield and Lewis, and he lost to the worst in his divison e.g. Buster Douglas, Kevin McBride and Danny Williams!
In regards to Calzaghe he did beat the best. However, he is limited by ducking. People will say Hopkins was too old without mentioning that he pulled out of a deal a few years ago. Also a younger Hopkins would have beaten him- bollocks. A younger Hopkins used to come forward more playing exactly into Calzaghe's hands. He is excellednt against pressure fighters. Apparently Jeff Lacy is now overrated. Where are all those who backed Lacy (the overwhelming favourite- so you are out there!) before THAT fight? Well now he is overrated so Calzaghe doesn't get the credit he deserved. Should he have even faught him if people wont give credit where it is due? Kessler- a better fighter than Lacy! What a victory. And Roy Jones Jr one of the best ever. Those who are RJJ will say he was too old if he loses... Nevermind Woodhall, Bika, Reid...
There is some much bollocks on here. 43 year old Hopkins... Blah, blah, blah, Honestly then, a younger Hopkins who went for it alot more would have beaten Calzaghe? Really this is too much. Calzaghe is the MASTER at beating come forward fighters!!! And Lacy was, according to people on this site (you know who you are) the best thing ever to happen to boxing. On this fight Calzaghe was still winning when the cut happened- much respect to RJJ for the balls he showed. A true great.
Yeah styles do make fights. Lacy had a style people POSTING HERE liked, Calzaghe beat... No, no, DESTROYED Lacy. Pavlik is one dimentional, in some respects WORSE than Lacy. Calzaghe would run rings round him. Pavlik has only two crediable victorys against the SAME bloke. Taylor is overrated himself with crediable victorys against one bloke and a fluke of a drw to boot. Pavlik is finally in his place. Fact.
I lost a lot of respect for the Pacman in regards to the Hatton situation. The 52-48 split seemed fair enough to me. However if he pulls this off fair play. It would be better for boxing
That sort of cultural supremacist nonsense, bordering on racism, is not welcome here. Please don't post that sort of stuff here again.
Sorry I have read this post and do not see the slightest element of Racism. There is no reference to race or any horrible cultural fallacy such as 'dog eating'. I can't see any sterotyping. Being proud of your own country is not racism. Neither is pointing out flaws in other countries.
So warren and don king decided that the fight will go on $$$$$ What about what Barrera thinks?.. he is the one with the gash over his eye that wont let him train the same.
Mate you are spot one with this. Even if Khan beats Barrera which I think he will despite the whole 'old' issue this will cloud the bout. People will say he beat an old injured Barrera
He's taking a tune-up against the guy who put Joe Calzaghe on the map.
A tune-up.
Funny you should mention Joe Calzaghe in your criticism of Taylor; isn't he fighting a 40 year old guy who Tarver and Johnson thrashed years ago, who also has no belt, and trying to sell it as a superfight?
At least Taylor isn't pulling the wool over anyone's eyes.
How can you moan about Joe Calzaghe in this instance? Who has Taylor beaten? Hopkins- OK an excellent fighter twice. But thats it. Sometimes a lesser fighter has the beating of a greater fighter because of their style. Calzaghe is a bona fide undefeated champion who has beaten those who dare fight him. Taylor is an overrated fighter who was beaten by Pavlik who albeit a good fighter is no Mikkel Kessler (who is as good a brawler as Pavlik but twice as good a boxer) whom Joe Calzaghe schooled. Changed his game plan in the last 6 rounds. The sign of a true champion.
I forgot to mention that Calzaghe has beaten Hopkins- Taylor's only legitimate victory
I agree, He was at a huge disadvantage for 90% of the fight because of that horrible cut.
Kahn was too fast for him with or without the cut. This is not the great MAB that beat The Prince. This an old man who cuts easily aka his last fight. The cut was very bad but he still didn't have the tools. Kahn beat a legend but a past it legend. This was always going to happen. The cut didn't change the outcome just gave somthing for MAB fans to hide behind. Shame for Kahn really as this victory would have been given more credit had there have been no cut.
What's funny is that you were the first to bring up Joe Calzaghe rather unprovoked and unneccesarily. I was merely responding to what you said.......which was just plain ignorant.
I have read your thoughts and I responded to them and offered valid reasons for Calzaghe's change of mind. You didnt respond to a single on of them. Instead making some smart arse wise crack. Most likely because you didnt have a response.
Oh it doesnt? Yes........you said it mate, its a business. Jermain Taylor said publically in the press that he couldnt make 160, that he was gonna retire at 30 and only wanted to fight the best at the 168lb division.
Instead he fights...........Cory Spinks and Kassim Ouma (a couple of jr middles at best). Yet he's not a weasel but Calzaghe is for saying he'd like to fight Pavlik but then changing his mind to fight Roy Jones - who is at least in his division and capable of giving him a hard fight.
When I say Im not here to defend Calzaghe, its on this topic. I dont think he's a "weasel", nor do i think Taylor is one so I dont feel I have to defend him on that rather lame point. Im just pointing out your double standard.
Yes I wouldnt mind see Calzaghe vs Pavlik. Still hopeful it could happen. Like Ive told you countless times, Taylor has been beaten twice on the spin. I dont think he's in such a lofty position as Calzaghe to be turning down fights for world titles.
As far as risk/reward goes. I think Jones is the riskier fight. Styles make fights and Pavlik is made for Calzaghe. I dont think thats an outrageous view to take up.
I dont fault Taylor. I actually couldnt give two shits about his career choices. Im just pointing out that Calzaghe has not been the only boxer in history to publically say one thing then do another. Di Bella, whilst negotiating with Warren for the Calzaghe fight had some derogatory things to say about Lacy. Now they're fighting him.
Taylor mislead the public by saying he was retiring soon and was only looking to fight the best at 168. Something he clearly did not do and still isnt even close to doing.
Totally agree with you Dirk lad. This guy talks utter shite with no facts to back up his points. He uses the 'lets make up bullshit' approach. It's usually irrelevent and its defo a bunch of toss. I still haven't read ONE valid fact based points made by him. He never has a vaild resonse. Agree with alot of what you say btw.
I have never lost as much respect for a fighter I like in such a short period of time as I have her with Pacman. What the **** is he playing at? He agrees a 50-50 split garenteed to make him £12 million a career best (He made £11 million by facing De La Hoya) which he then goes back on. Then he wins the pride battle by making Hatton back down from 50% to 48% having already forced the fight to be earlier than Hatton wanted and in the USA not England (A guarenteed 80,000 tickets for that at Wembley) and has therefore had it his own way. I'm not suggesting he's scared but I am suggesting he is stupid. The people around him must be thinking of themselves. Why wouldn't you return calls to Freddy Roach? The man who has lead him to ALL his best victories. Amazing. He is going to fight Valero for £3 million instead... Does anybody see the logic here?
Is it really that difficult for people to understand that boxing is about making money? I never criticise fighters for taking matchups that earn higher pay days. If he could have got more money against Pavlik he would have fought him. He can't, so he didn't. It is an occupation.
This guy has it spot on. Especially when you consider that Calzaghe doesn't have as much money as other top level fighters. Most of this is still being held by that criminal Frank Warren- why would any other business man/woman take a lesser contract over a higher one? It wouls make no sense.
Warren is a deluded criminal. Fact. He is still pissed that a) Haye turned him down as a manager and b) Haye knocked out Maccarinelli (Warren's only "I told you so" opportunity). Matt Skelton is a joke. If he wins a title then hats off. Both a British kick boxing and boxing champion needs respect. In kick boxing (at some level) he has it. When it comes to world boxing... is he having a laugh?
I don't even know why they organixsed this fight when Barrera was already fighting. It was stupid- an accident waiting to happen. And then to start selling tickets was even more stupid. Anything can happen- it's boxing. I don't even know why Barrera needed this fight anyway. They should have just taken out the risk at the start, getting them wrapped in cotton wool to get Barrera and Khan in the ring. A complete joke.
