According to Manny Pacquiao, the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr. has reached out for a potential clash in 2009. The two sides are currently discussing the fight. Mayweather has been inactive since December 2007, when he stepped in the ring to knock out Ricky Hatton. The talks for Mayweather-Pacquiao have been revealed on the eve of the crumbled Pacquiao-Hatton bout, which was in talks for May 2 in Las Vegas.

"Mayweather’s camp is talking with us. There’s still many other possible opponents out there. Like Mayweather, they’re negotiating with us," Pacquiao told ABS-CBN correspondent Dyan Castillejo.

Pacquiao turned down a 52-48 split for a fight with Hatton. He wanted at least 55-45 with a guarantee of $12 million dollars. Pacquiao is still willing to fight Hatton - if the Manchester fighter agrees to his terms.

"I can’t do anything about it. As long as they don’t accept our offer… the fight is off,” said Pacquiao. "I will sign the contract if they agree to our proposal. I’m still open as long as I’ve not yet entered a fight contract with another boxer."
