To be fair to the forum member you are addressing, you shouldn't base an assessment of a member on the amount of posts he/she has. That guy might have 30 years of boxing knowledge under his belt. Calzaghe would've probably beaten Pavlik, but it wouldn't have looked anything like how BHop did it. Hopkins strategy was based on dissecting Pavlik's flaws from past fights, and using video of other fights for ideas on how to exploit them. He didn't just look at Pavlik, he made him a study. He took great notes from Marg/Cotto and Hagler/Hearns on top of breaking Kelly down. Super cerebral. Ghost was handicapped the moment he stepped between the ropes from that much attention to detail paid to him. Calzaghe fans have no business trying to piggy back Hopkins defeat of Pavlik back to Joe. Joe doesn't focus on the above no where near the level BHop does, so it's a different fight. The win may make the awarded decision against Hopkins validating in his mind, but it doesn't extend beyond that.

Yeah styles do make fights. Lacy had a style people POSTING HERE liked, Calzaghe beat... No, no, DESTROYED Lacy. Pavlik is one dimentional, in some respects WORSE than Lacy. Calzaghe would run rings round him. Pavlik has only two crediable victorys against the SAME bloke. Taylor is overrated himself with crediable victorys against one bloke and a fluke of a drw to boot. Pavlik's obliteration by Hopkins doesn't mean Calzaghe would beat him. The fact that Pavlik is a come-forward, straight lines, Plan A type fighter is why Calzaghe would beat him. If you lumped 170 pounds of meat, put it into the AutoBoxerCreator 2000 and made the ideal punchbag for him, it'd come out with Kelly Pavlik. And I'm a Pavlik fan. I've always said he needs to stay at MW, clean out the division and stay the hell away from Calzaghe and SMW.

I dont look to much into the Triangle theory BUT after Calzaghe beat Hopkins alot of posters were saying he looked awful doing it ( which I agree with ) against a 42 year old Hopkins , I just think some posters should credit Calzaghe as Hopkins has proved he is not washed up and I am not being funny the Hopkins v Pavlik fight was not close Hopkins hammered him.

Calzaghe would most likely beat Pavlik but I wouldn't give him credit for Hopkins' performance against Pavlik... It's as if it was Calzaghe there schooling Pavlik for 12 rounds based on some of the posts here. Calzaghe closing out his career against a past it Roy Jones is underwhelming to say the least.
