maybe everyone needs to calm down. there is this little problem going on inside GB that makes it hard to schedule fights.
im sure oscar wants to book a date to show GB is still moving along so dont blame danny
Why are you only attacking Pac and Floyd though, see where it shows your hate? why only Pac and Floyd? Why only them, why? also I bet you criticized Pac and Floyd for fighting Maidana and Bradley and Rios, saying why are they fighting blown up junior welters?
Why not say Bradley, Garcia, Rigo, etc should move up to prove greatness? see your bias.
Yet you won't say why is that middleweight fighting blown up feathers in Pac and Floyd?
see yoru double standard and bias? your opinion holds no weight in this argument.
you are Biased, why only hold Pac and Floyd to those standards, its like you are holding onto the past and refuse for others to be great.
Pac and Floyd climbed enough divisions, if you were a fair you would discredit the middleweight who beats them. just like you discredit Pac and Floyd for beating a guy at 147 who just moved up from 140, but no you won't.
They don't need to go up in weight, your reply is flawed and bias, that would mean Ricardo Finito lopez is a joke because he didnt move up, Marvin Hagler never moved up and his biggest wins are against blown up welters and lightweights.
But you only criticize Pac and Floyd.
All Pac and Floyd should do is fight the best guys in their division, where they are 100 percent capable.
Wow dude. Have a snickers bro. Look man you can write "hate" and "bias" fifty times that doesnt mean its true. Criticism is not hate. And when you have a discussion with someone its best not to put words in their mouth and make wild assumptions.
I criticize Pac and Floyd because they've been the two best and most popular fighters for 10 years and because you mentioned them. They are considered the best of this era so why not compare them to the past welter champs? Thats what boxing is all about and, sh*t, they compare themselves all the time with "historic" divisional titles.
So my question is simple..why should we give their "historic" careers a pass when other champs before them made the leap. I mean, as a fan, wouldnt you want to see these fights? Dont we want to see our fav fighters challenge themselves and make great fights. I for one, dont care if they lose trying.
Pac already beat super middleweight Margarito who probably is as good as Barkley was, both not too great.
But Pac has already more titles in divisions than his peers so no need to step and fight bigger guys, Pacs waiting for his peers to catch up with him.
Maybe if Floyd beats GGG, then it might spur Pac on to fight at 154?
Interesting...I dont recall Margs weighing in at 168lbs...ever
To answer this ridiculous stupid question, Pacman is tiny compared to Duran, different body types and bone structure, Duran was short but stocky, Pacman has the upperbody of a teenager but the legs of tree trunk, Duran had a broader frame able to carry the weight much better and he would cut down from the 160s-170s to make 135 so he was always biggeer.
OP is a flowmo doing what they do best crying, and always attacking Pacman with the questions that are thrown at Floyd specifically. they projected them onto someone else.
People arae saying why don't floyd go up to to middleweight, so they use the defense mechanism of throwing the same thing on Pac.
The same flowmos who said Pac is too small to whoop floyd, yet now he should go up to middleweight?
This is why nobody takes a flowmo serious they have spoiled brat entitlement syndrome they have no logic and contradict themselves and come off as whiney why me not him types. sibling rivalry.
I agre though that Floyd and Pac are both small, Floyd shouldnt have to go to 160 in my opinion he doesn't weigh more than 150 and Pac weighs the same, these are smaller men, so don't attack Pac just to counter the questions hurled at Floyd.
because Anyone who demands either Pac or Floyd go up to 160 are just haters, they already went up enough. Just fight the besrt guys in your divisions.
So were the dozen former welterweight champs that moved up to 160 and won belts "haters?" what about the others that tried and failed?
I disagree that they should be completely excused from going to 160. If they want to flex divisional titles and moving up from point A to B, then they inherently welcome comparisons of past champs that went up higher.
Besides the obvious 2.
GGG, maidana, Cotto, Thurman, maybe even shawn porter if he gets more spectacular wins on his resume.
Interesting. Maidana Porter and Thurman.
Cotto has definitely faced stronger opposition than floyd, but I think Floyd still ranks higher comfortably.
What we need is a fighter with Floyd's ability and Cotto's resume.
They already made the leap. Talking about it's simple, it's simple math. Let me post it down for you.
Up to where they won major title:
Sugar Ray Leonard: 147-175lbs: 28lbs
Roberto Duran - 126 -168 - 42lbs
Tommy Hearns - 147 - 175lbs - 28lbs
Manny Pacquiao - 106 - 150lbs - 44lbs
Floyd Mayweather Jr - 130-154 - 24lbs
Oscar De La Hoya - 130-160 - 30lbs
Henry Armstrong - 126 - 147 - 21lbs
That is a useful post. Looks like a wide range of weights. Looks like someone can move up to 160.
Lets approach this realistically. Cotto is going to fight again in December and then spring The latter date will be against Canelo if he beats Lara. So Cotto will need a stay busy defense at 160 with someone that can be marketed and most likely someone from TR while GB/Haymon figure things out.
Enter David Lemeuix. Strong, white, and slightly undersized. Just good enough to fight but not too dangerous to mess up the future. Coming off a KO win. Fans from MTL can come down to NYC and buy a ticket.
Done.
Economics buddy... currency fluctuates and what Ali made in the 70's is the equivalent of what Floyd makes now.
Yes. People tend to forget this. Inflation. SRL made 13million in 1980 to fight Duran. That's about 30 million dollars in todays money
I know I'm in the minority but I wish that they wouldn't show any boxing on PPV anymore.
Cotto vs Martinez robbed the fans. PPV fights allow fighters to put on 1 last performance and then retire.
Maidana has mentioned retiring if he doesn't fight Floyd(PPV fight)
Martinez picked up a career ending paycheck, he will retire.
I'm sure I could think of more if given time but the point has been made.
PPV fights are just not worth it when a fighter knows ,win or lose , that he can retire without even having to put on a show.
I'll even list Floyd, who I hate talking about. Floyd only fights to a certain point where he wins on the cards, he never goes all out. He worries about his health and how he will spend his millions. Why should he risk his health, he's getting paid no matter what.
PPV Broke Boxing.
You are not alone. The irony is that fanboys covet PPV as a badge of honor for their Personal fighting Jesus but dont realize that the PPV model hurts the sport more than it helps. So essentially, promoters have leveraged the stupidity of fanboys to constipate the sport.
They are going to make a new wing in Canastota that features banking information, income statements, tax returns, neilsen ratings ledgers and sales receipts.
I can't wait to bask in the glory of financials. Its gonna be hot, they will sell calculators and adding machines with TBE on the side and give out free copies of Quicken loans.
Go boxing.
I think Cotto should be judged more on what he does with the title going forward. It wasn't an impressive win but he still had to go in there and handle.
This whole thing is just more evidence as to why lineal and division titles mean less and less yet are used more and more to market fighters.
Also, Loma didnt absolutely outclass GRJ. He won convincingly, there is a difference. GRJ showed, to me, that he can fight at a high level, he just lost to another high-level guy who is better. GRJ showed toughness, resiliency and heart.
While Floyd hasnt had the stiffest comp over the course of his career its plain dumb to dismiss it or not realize he is an amazing fighter.
I do find it amusing tho, when floyd fans respond to criticism with division titles, world title bouts and such...why not just list the names he has beaten?
Its a double edged sword for Manny fans because when they boast that he DESTROYED guys and built a legacy as a monster slayer, it welcomes criticism and baseless PED accusations. Thing is, did Manny really destroy much bigger guys? Bit if a myth if you ask me.
Its easier to "destroy" opponents when they aren't at their best or the best in their division.
During this run, the only prime fighter Manny beat up above 140 was Cotto. Oscar, Margs and Shane were on one leg and he didnt destroy Clottey. So yeah
How is that not holding it hostage? Canelo had never fought at 160 and his first fight at 160 to be for the lineal title?
That's holding it hostage when you have a 160lb champ ready to unify and no network/promotional barriers to block the fight IMO
It lies somewhere in between. "Holding it hostage" implies Cotto is going to take the easy route. Fighting a fringe jmw or an unranked middle would be holding the title hostage.
Canelo would be a very tough fight for Cotto so I dont see it as much of an easy/hostage situation. I'd like Cotto to fight GGG as well but since they are both tough fights I cant blame Cotto for going with a bigger fight if he chooses to do so. it doesnt mean he cant fight GGG if he beats cinnabon
