This is the standout comment from Ward that I heard on this weeks toe to toe podcast.
Andre Ward believes that him fighting Froch in England could be bigger than Froch-Groves II. He said that drawing 80,000 in the uk isn't the same as 80,000 in the us. He does give credit to Carl. He believed that he is the bigger star in America and doesn't think Froch is as big a name there. He argues that he is known in England because he beat Froch, so could do well there. Froch in his opinion isn't well known in the states.
Why is it Ward doesn't have the Stateside backing of a dominant champion? I mean, clearly there is an appetite for boxing in the US but Ward hasn't tapped into the ppv well. Froch made more from Groves II than all Ward's career purses combined I'll guess.
He hasn't been a dominant champion in 3 years. Since he beat Froch, Ward has made mistake after mistake. And lately he's just lost his damn mind.
Ward was on the cusp after the Super Six, but between injuries and his mistaken belief in his worth, he's f*cked up all that momentum.
ward must be truly terrified of kovalev/stevenson. both fights are there and easy to make but he is flat out refusing to even consider them. He has already proved he is the best supermiddle, has beaten the toip guys etc why not move up and challenge the light heavys? Why demand to fight the same guy you have already beaten again? It's so lame.
I think it all comes down to his style. his wrestling/grappling works well when he is the stronger guy, but against kovalev/stevenson he wont be able to grab and bully them. He lacks the confidence in his abilities to move up and at this stage all he has is the fact that he is unbeaten ... even now he finds it hard to draw a crowd ... imagine if he took a loss? He wouldn't be able to draw anybody then.
Stevenson fight isn't out there for him.

Ward is by all accounts a decent bloke with a strong faith. I doubt he'd stoop down to Mayweather/Haye tactics to sell a fight which is what the public seems to want.
what the **** is ward trying to prove? dude is just embarrassing himself right now. bro, you're not floyd mayweather. you might sit near him at the p4p table, but that's where it ends.

I don't know about most disliked, most perplexing definitely. Nobody can make any sense out of what he's doing. It's not like he's a "business-first fighter" either because he isn't making any money. He's like a broke, off-brand version of Floyd who forgot to get famous first.
There were early omens of Ward's weirdness back during the Supersix when he and Dirrell were found colluding to avoid fighting each other.
He's an odd character for sure.
Don't post often but frequently come...this dude is delusional and he's def one of my favs...an easily made fight made would be him vs Pascal at a cw in Montreal..this guy is taking Winky Wright's advice.

Ridiculous. Ward doesn't sell out here, let alone 80,000 in Wembley. He's frustrated and rightfully so but Froch doesn't want to fight him, Froch doesn't need to fight him, and given what happened the last they met, a rematch doesn't even make sense.
Agree. A return might however be slightly interesting in England, even though Ward should still be a massive favourite there.
In the U.S. 0 will know who Ward is and 0 will know who Froch is.
I know two people who don;t even watch boxing who are Froch fans. They always rub it in my face when Froch wins because I always go against him. But to the point, these guys have no idea who Ward is...well one does but he doesn't care too much for him.
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
Seriously, Ward needs to get back in the ring and stop coming out with all these silly comments.
He's funny though, i'll give him that.

Not at all. Im not saying at all Froch is better, only a fool would think that, but Ward is off so much most casual fans dont know who he is. Ask 10 casual fans about the two and see what happens.
