This is going to be dangerous and lead to more deaths. You're not going to stop guys from cutting weight but just make them cut more weight. They can get away with this in the UFC because fights there are just decided by strikes but with wrestling. Sure they throw kicks and knees which are harder than punches but the frequency is so much less than boxing. And when they get knocked down, it usually goes to the ground and gets stopped quickly. It's going to shorten the careers of so many boxers who age and aren't able to make weight. The UFC doesn't have this problem as much either since the average age of fighters joining the UFC is in the mid to late 20's
I don't think Plant should come back. He has no power to stop these younger guys, he ain't sniffing a belt now, the Charlo fight is out the window. What is left for him?
The Benavidez fight ruined him.
Breadman really should have stopped that fight, Plant sustained a beating that almost certainly shortened his career.
I don't think Fury or Tank cheated but you are right that everyone is placing faith in these commissions which are already known to be incompetent at best and corrupt at worst. The investigation into the NYSAC revealed tons of corrupt ****.
Most of what you're saying is true but I don't think Joe is going to push Beterbiev back and going based in the Vlasov fight, Joe doesn't have the best stamina when he can't come forward the entire fight. He was taking really long breaks on the ropes in that fight and against Beterbiev that's a recipe for disaster.
I guess we'll see Saturday and if you're right I'll be the first to give you your props because I don't see an all out war but rather a methodical beat down.
I think Vlasov was just too slippery for Joe. Beterbiev doesn't move as much as Vlasov and takes punches on his guard so I think Joe might have a easier time building up his offense which is pretty much his defense.
Joe KOed Hopkins and Kovalev couldnt. 1 fight apart
JOE KOED Alvarez when Kovalev couldnt twice. Hes a straight up harder banger than Kovalev
Joe KOed Fonfara when Stevenson couldnt.
Huh? Benavidez said Bivol has one of the strongest 1-2s he's felt.
Joe had his jaw broke
Inoue had his eye socket broke and he went the distance too
Kovalev had Alvarez pretty badly hurt in their first fight
Xander is going to be the pay per view star if he keeps winning, the kid is respectful, classy, talented, well spoken, you name it he fits the bill. crazy how Top Rank invested soo much into Berlanga though, that dude is garbage he is just a sideshow and PR hood types and NY Boriqua just like him cause he hood, but Xander has the makings of a ppv star.
Same strategy with Munguia I feel. They just took a shot in the dark and backed him in the hopes that he will make a future Canelo ppv opponent.
He waited too long to bring AJ to the US. He had the potential to be a star here in the states and an undisputed trilogy between 2 polar opposite guys who boast really high KO's would have made so much money.
The Parker fight shouldn't even be considered a win. Even by the judges scorecards, if the headbutt wasn't counted as knockdown, it would have been scored as a draw. That's not even mentioning the constant fouling by Whyte.
Whyte's resume has decent names but the actual performances aren't that special. Two of his biggest wins(Parker and Chisora) he barely scraped out a win and that was with the ref favoring him.
Whyte is just a level below guys like Fury, Usyk, Joshua and Wilder. You can see it with Whyte's fight against Lucas Browne. Those guys would have stopped that version of Browne in the first 2 rounds at a minimum. Whyte took 6.
6-1 favourite based on promotional hype that even the oddsmakers fell for. Bivol rarely loses rounds, is leagues better than Smith and Plant, and is much longer than Canelo.
For the oddsmakers to have Bivol 6-1 leads me to believe they sucked into the hype of Canelo. 168lb division has always been devoid of talent, that's why Canelo looked like Hulk smashing Plant and Smith but barely beat Jacobs and in the eyes of many lost to Golovkin twice at Middleweight.
I think the Kovalev fight made people think his size wasn't an issue just because he knocked out Kovalev. When even in that fight, it was clear he couldn't get past Kovalev's jab.
b
Canelo has progressively got worse technically over the last few years. And he wasn't all hat to begin with.
He stopped using his jab. He threw more jabs against Jacobs than he did against Saunders and Plant combined.
That last few fights for Canelo have given people the impression that Canelo is even stronger and better at 168 and 175. Everyone ignores that BJS and Plant had some success despite ultimately getting stopped.
His mental health. He's way too erratic and emotional even by boxing standards.
I've never seen a fighter cry over his daddy issues on national tv in the build up for a fight before Lopez did it. I'm not even surprised he lost like this because he was bound to go flying off the rails with way he is and the people he has around him.
I don't think so tbh and if he has declined, its only by a little bit. Too many people were on the hype train after Canelo beat all these guys at 168(and Kovalev) thinking that Canelo was peaking when he was fighting guys who were just a level below. I mean even this old GGG would have good chance of beating Plant and BJS.
Absolutely. All the arguments AJ fans used for why he would beat Wilder are the exact same arguments everyone just used for why he would beat Dubois. Joshua just faced someone he knows is a puncher and has been dropped by him before and STILL he dropped his hands and stepped straight back.
The Fielding fight was. It was for the Regular WBA! So for all the Canelo haters always crying about “Fielding,” these fights haunt… it’s ironic too… it’s as if the Canelo hate karma wanted to make a point with Tank using No Boxing No Life gloves!! It’s magic in the air.
Smith and Kovalev have had more significant fights and class levels above Barrios
Fielding was losing from the first second. Fielding also doesn't fight like Barrios did tonight. He fights up close. That's why he lost in 3 rounds
Pacquiao hit Algieri with a massive left in the 9th round and that hurt him badly. Spence was hurting him and knocking him down but he didn't land a massive shot like Pacquiao did.
Joshua won't come in under 240 pounds, he was weakened and over-trained for Ruiz II.
Joshua will come in the low 240's against Tyson Fury.
I don't think people should be concerned with Joshua's preparation 'It is Tyson Fury's preparation people need to be concerned with'.
I will say one thing? Tyson Fury is the favorite for this fight, and I think he should win.
But if he attempts to bring back his old school riddler style, and comes in at 250 + pounds 'He will make this fight extremely difficult for himself'.
The Riddler style was a bi-product of Peter Fury's training, I honestly don't think Fury puts himself through that type of training anymore 'And it may back fire if he attempts to become the Riddler again'.
Fury implemented is Riddler style last against Deontay Wilder I, and was decked twice 'Once badly'.
People on these forums, seem to want to ignore the fact that 'Tyson Fury does not move anymore, and he has been hit in all of his fights frequently since his comeback'.
Fury fought the way he did against Wilder because he knew he could muscle and push Wilder around. I don't even think most of his punches even landed that cleanly against Wilder. His clubbing hooks just had enough strength and mass behind them they were moving 50 lb lighter Wilder around. Can't do that against Joshua.
I don't think Joshua is all that comfortable coming forward anymore either. Last time he did, Ruiz caught him.
Povetkin never had covid. That was made up. He had pics of himself dancing with his wife and then took them all down not long after the diagnosis. i believe he just took his time..and i even believe that he was totally fine in the lead up to the fine, walking normal, until the final ring walk. To me that suggests the guy was either spiked OR he was just putting on an act to excuse the incoming loss.
don't ever underestimate povetkin's mind games.
whyte tried to force the fight for a november date...povetkin just had to pull the covid excuse.
whyte did certainly dominate povetkin until that punch...he was the unlucky one, he wasnt 'lucky to beat povetkin'.
The parker fight wasnt whyte fighting dirty...that literally was down to parker's own tactic of literally barging into a perfectly timed clinch at every opportunity. go and watch that fight again and pay attention to the way parker went in looking to clinch and ended up catching his head on whyte's head. Still, Parker, even now is an elite fighter and beat Ruiz, so by no means can you dismiss Whyte's acheivement of beating him.
Chisora is improved from his younger days due to his experience. He used to be erratic and go head hunting when he was younger which is why he got knocked out by Haye.
Notice the moment chisora went head hunting when he was down 2 points, he got countered and dropped hard? whyte is similar in that respect, he is wreckless too.
Whyte will certainly fight ruiz/wilder/ortiz if the fights are available and both sides do it properly. i dont like ortiz, the way he always calls out guys when he knows they're signed to a fight already. Idk what the plan is there..and i dont trust the pbc would even attempt it.
think about it...if wilder loses to fury..then he will fight ruiz before calling it quits. ruiz would fight ortiz and wilder first in whatever order. Ortiz would prob just end up fighting Arreola or some thing like that.
i wouldnt even mind if ortiz fought someone like daniel dubois if al felt it was better to work with frank warren. i just cant see pbc doing matchroom any favours in making fights.
Whyte only won against Parker because that headbutt was counted as a kd. It would have been a draw had it not. And he did fight dirty. Even the biased sky commentary had to acknowledge and make excuses for it.
You didn't understand my post. You can rate those wins as highly as you want and deny Povetkin having covid but it doesn't change that Whyte almost lost to Parker and Chisora with favorable reffing and got slept by Sasha Povetkin. He knows he can lose to anyone in the top 10-15 and that includes Martin. That's why Whyte is scraping the bottom of the barrel to fight Franklin. He doesn't want to ruin the big potential payday. I don't fault him for it either since its the smart thing to do.
personally i dont get Whyte's whole 'easy fight' persuit. He fought Wach...that was supposed to be a tune up.
He was dominating povetkin and then got hit hard. He dominated and beat povetkin in the rematch. All in all that's as easy as it should be getting for him.
Looking for an easy opponent in america is dumb. if he struggles, it looks bad on him. If he wins by ko and it's easy, people will think nothing of it.
He is obv trying to use up the time to wait for a mandatory fight, but that's not happening, his mandatory status was reset, he will only get that shot after any undisputed fight.
Then there's ruiz and wilder, or even ortiz..all pbc. Fat chance of it happening.
Btw guys, Whyte is a free agent, he fights on a fight by fight basis with Matchroom. His best option would be to legit join pbc to force his position with their fighters. There's no chance of al haymon setting up ruiz or wilder for whyte if it isnt an in house card.
i dont give a sh** what promotion it's on, it'll be the same price ppv here (whyte is a sky sports ppv fighter, wont be a dazn uk fight).
I think Whyte is pretty smart and self aware. He's biding his time now because he knows that anyone in the top 10 (ruiz, ortiz, wallin etc) poses a real threat that could destroy a potential payday. I figure he knows that a Joshua ppv in the UK will be there if he doesn't lose again and if Joshua beats Usyk. Whyte is probably aware of just how much luck(along with some favoritism) he's had to get to the point he's in. Fought dirty against Parker and scraped by with a razor thin decision. Was on his way to losing to Chisora before he knocked him out. He was incredibly lucky that Povetkin got covid. If he lost that rematch he would be fucked.
Personally I think a ppv Joshua rematch in the UK in the first half of 2022 is there to be made and I think that's what Whyte is waiting for.
80/20 in favor of Tank. Ryan is just a level or two below tank. He's developing well under reynoso but he still has huge holes in his defense. It's really weird considering what experienced amateur he was.
I think Ryan could only win if he caught Tank early but I think Tank's defense is pretty good and that probably wouldn't happen. Garcia also showed he's not good under pressure before and while that was before he joined the canelo camp, I think its still a problem for him and he will crumble when Tank starts pressuring him.
Damn! Logan Paul said '' I know what you did to your wife, Floyd is 51-0, he beat his wife too! ''. OK, now I'm watching this.
Not even true
Floyd's never been married
