Don't use all that pedigree stuff when it comes to today's heavyweights. Ortiz looks like Mr. Marshmallow man, but all he does is win and has shown that he can crack. Those triangle theories never seem to work well in analysis either.
Maidanas drawing power & name recognition grew tremendously for losing to Floyd. )
What do y'all think?
Maidana's drawing power came from beating a hype job Broner. Losing to Floyd only made him better in Floyd fan's eyes. Maidana was a solid B level fighter with heart and power. Devon Alexander outclassed him, and Amir Khan outpointed him.
Kool Keef ain't in no position to be demanding large paydays right now. He's been on the shelf for years- coming off to fight Pacquiao then sitting out again. Keith needs to show that he's still got championship level skills.
Because Maidana wasn't little like Pac or weight drained like Canelo, or way past his prime like Mosley. Paul Williams would have given Floyd trouble at 147, Sergio Martinez would have given Floyd a fight at 154. Instead we saw the who's who of the beatable bunch get lined up.
In real time I thought that the stoppage was premature, but in the replay you can see Acosta had his hands down and was not defending himself. Tough break for the guy either way. Props to Soto for keeping his head in the game even when it appeared that he was on his way to losing. A helluva fight all around though. Fight of the year contender.
That Charlie Z dude is lucky no one killed or maimed him. He made a video years back of himself beating the crap out of people who could not defend themselves. It's funny that he got what he had coming. People on boxing threads love talking s**t about fighters but would get owned in heart beat if ever confronted. No other sport has the level of trolling that you see in boxing threads.
GGG beat Jacobs more convincingly than Canelo winning in their second fight. Although Canelo has made huge progress since their fights, the record should be 1-0-1 for GGG at worse and realistically 2-0 GGG. That said, I had GGG losing to Derevyanchenko. In the sport of boxing, all elite fighters have at least 1 gift decision. Canelo has 2 off the top of my head- Lara and GGG.
Floyd's best defense was fighting fighters on the way down, faded champs, little guys and weight drained 23 year olds. Look at how he blueprinting Tank Davis- dude is 26 years old has "championships in 3 weight classes" and is yet to actually fight a top dog in any of those weight classes. Floyd fought Pacquiao 6 years too late, and Canelo about 5 years too soon. Timing matters and Floyd's greatest skill was just that.
White people love black entertainers, athletes, comedians, etc. The only thing they don't like is actual black people. What Malinaggi said was his opinion, and Showtime firing him for saying stupid s**t was their opinion. It's how the free market works.
LOL!! Tank almost got KOd in the undercard of the Mayweather/McGregor fight by an Uber driver... AND he's supposed to be 50/50 against Loma??? GTFOH.. Not even Tank thinks that, which is evidenced by his not wanting anything to do with a Lomachenko fight. He's gonna do like Floyd and wait 7 years til' Loma slows down and goes through wars and then call him out. Once the fight is no longer relevant.
Because he outclassed Lemiuex?? LOL!! I think Jacobs, GGG, are both higher ranked than Saunders at the moment. Let's see Saunders beat someone in the top 5 and then we can start having this discussion.
No,being out on your feet against the ghost of josesito Lopez is a bad performance. And let's not act as if he was putting on a masterclass after he went Bambi legs. He went full defensive mode, and was still being tagged with flush shots by a guy who has no power, handspeed,or footwork. They managed to find him a walking punching bag,and he still managed to get hit.
Josesito Lopez is a tough out for anyone at 147. He had Maidana out on his feet, and broke Victor Ortiz down when Ortiz was still considered a winning fighter. People like to talk crap about fighters- in the words of Uncle Jeff, "most people don't know s**t about boxing." Thurman took care of business. It wasn't pretty, but he got the job done...
He was making up for not calling the KD in the previous round. In the end the score was the fair one- each one had a kd and Logan had a point deducted for hitting the KSI while he was on the ground. That was dirty af.
mexicans will never dominate HW, they're midgets by nature
Canelo is the first mexican to win titles at MW and SMW, and Ruiz the first "mexican" HW champ for a reason
Zurdo Ramirez and David Benevidez both won titles at 168 before Canelo did. They're both over 6 feet. Seems like you don't really pay attention to the sport.
Schooled him?? Smh. He won more rounds because Lomachenko didn't let his hands go. The best punches of the fight and the most convincing rounds were won by Lomachenko. Loma is a small guy fighting some big 135 lb fighters and still a force to be reckoned with. He also had a shoulder injury and had surgery right after the fight. You guys are hilarious with this stuff....
"Draconian" measures in regards to the pandemic?? Get vaccinated and there's no problem- which Lomachenko has already done as evidenced by the fact that he fought in NYC where you must be vaccinated to enter athletic venues. I'm hoping that Kambosos fights Loma next and that Loma then fights Haney.
Floyd's blueprint was to weight drain a 23 year old contender. That's just not gonna work these days. On top of Canelo not being a kid anymore, he has learned to go to the body, hit the the arms, and counter the right hand. Floyd's blueprint was being the A side...
This thread is so stupid, it could only come from a floyd fan... And for the record, I am not a Pacquiao fan but the stupidity that comes out of floyd fans is beyond belief.
Precise counterpunching... The kind that stops aggression in it's tracks and discourages offensive minded fighters. Also, being able to grind and scrap on the inside is highly underrated.:boxing:
At 145, JMM rapes Cotto then Knocks him TF out. Cotto eats too many powers shots, and apparently he had trouble making the mid 140s. If Cotto were to have any shot, it would have to be at Jr. MW. Cotto is one of the most overrated fighters in the last 10 years. For some reason the *****s convinced the general public that Cotto was a legitimate threat- Cotto has looked shot for years, then he beats Delvin Rodriguez and suddenly he's on the upswing... Give me a break...
The hoodlum element is the element that disrespects the sport by verbally or physically abusing fighters, fans, or other folk who are part of the sport. But the thing with boxing is that you need to have a certain gladiator mentality to be compete, and sometimes it gets the best of the fighters...:boxing:
Sweet Pea- for the simple fact that he fought, and whipped imo, an undefeated number 1 P4P JC Chavez. Floyd would have never fought an opponent like that- still doesn't. Floyd is a fan boy boy phenomenon who has managed to avoid way too many fights- not to mention the retirement, the cheating JMM on the scales, and the draining of a green 23 year old Canelo...:boxing:
I believe Pacquiao's best days are behind him, but there was a time he made Floyd pee his panties. I know the fan boys will crow about testing and arum and splits of the purse- but the reality is that Floyd has a long list of ducks, and Pacquiao is just the most notable because he became a cross over success. Even the Canelo fight is a kind of a duck, cause' not only is it at a catchweight, but Floyd and his fans for years talked s**t about CWs and now when FLoyd fights a potentially dangerous 23 year old kid he drains him... LOL. The people's champ.
Like the invisible ghost, p4p baldomir, all heart ortiz, and the great old shane mosley??? When is the last time he faught a prime guyin the top 15 p4p
Truth right here...
