Was this round a knockdown or a slip as Byrd claimed(what a terrible ref in my personal opinion)
Remember to use context that Laras eye looked bubonic after getting hit repeatedly with that nasty left hook from Canelo,& that the left was what caused Lara to recoil then fall as if he lost his legs for a few milliseconds, unlike when he almost fell from retreating early in the fight,& the 1st thing Lara did was wipe his eye when he was on the floor(he took a break on the floor to soothe his eye)
He was off balance and moving backwards when he caught the tail end of that body shot... Tough call. He probably wouldn’t have fallen if he hadn’t been touched but I wouldn’t call it a knockdown because the punch barely landed.
There was no punch landed prior to Lara going down it strays past his waste ,Canelo missed . You cannot call a knockdown if the fighter goes down on his own .
I don't know where you got that from Because YES a fighter can be Knockeddown if he takes a break on 1 knee the ref counts to 10,Lara didn't slip,he took a break on the mat,
The punch landed(Lara made it look like it doesn't land, its how he fights)& in the same recoil motion Lara fell over himself (his knees got weak as opposed to a slip Which looks much different, rewatch it but pay attention just on Lara & before the knockdown pay attention to the misery that eye was giving him & how often it was hit jailhouse style in same spot.) After Lara took a break he only had to survive the rd for like 10 seconds really & he had rubbed it to soothe it,we can debate all day though I just gotta make a video
After carefully rewatching the knockdown its clear it WAS a kd,Lara couldn't have slipped in such a way,if you rewatch it while only looking at Lara instead of the Knockdown punch itself, you'll see Lara couldn't have possibly slipped the way he fell to the floor,at no point did he lose his footing,he took a knee no differently than Brook did vs Spence.(for same reason, the eye was fcked up, albeit to different degrees)
I will make a video of only what I'm talking about, only then will most see the obvious, that Lara got hit 1 too many in the eye he kept rubbing before & after the kd,when he hit the mat,he rubbed his eye & continued so after he got up,when he fell to his knee his center mass of his stance at no point looked at all like a slip, after taking a step back as he got hit he fell onto 1 knee, thats a textbook knockdown otherwise countless others aren't,& yes the punch connected cleanly as any does on Lara. Just my 2 cents
1 last thing according to the rules of boxing,it doesn't matter if a knockdown is caused by a punch & a slip,as long as the punch connected right as the slip happened, its a knockdown.
If you use the ropes to keep you up its a KD. It clearly didnt land great but poor balance is fighters fault
That couldve potentially been ruled a KD
- -Punch in the 2nd landed, the reason LadyLara propelled backwards. Grabbing the rope something anyone does to stay up, but a clear KD by rules.
The Lady & her fans doth protest too much me thinks. She got manhandled by a Kid Great in the making.
Didn't show for the Paul Williams fight either. Anyone remember Williams and Canelo had just signed to fight when Paul had his tragic motorcycle accident that left him a paraplegic?
Such are the fates of our mortality.
05:06 of the video? Nothing happened. Or do you mean Lara grabbing the rope at 5:01? If so, that appeared to be a straight right off the gloves that caught him off balance.

Go to 5m and 6s. Wat u think bout that one

At 5 min and 5 seconds Canelo lands a right and Lara grabs the ropes to stay up. That couldve been a KD also
He rubbed his eye with his left hand moments before. Punch doesn't look hurtful, he just moved back from Canelo's right hand and slipped out on his toes in the water patch in the corner.
How can you say other people are biased when you've clearly already made up your mind in addition to posting the words 'plague' or 'bubonic' in every single post here. Not trying to sway anyone hey? Very unbiased...
I mentioned the word bubonic Because laras eye looked disgustingly rotten,if that wasn't a knockdown then neither is countless others like ggg vs Jacobs or any other flash kd,I told someone they are salty Because hes never once said anything but salt about Canelo, simple as that. I am trying to show ppl if they actually pay close attention & rewatch it even, they either have to reinvent the definition knockdown or admit it was a kd(fighters aren't allowed to take their own breaks, it was the end of a round Lara was getting repeatedly hit jailhouse style in the same spot over & over,& he took a break on the floor after getting hit 1 too many,he immediately rubbed the eye profusely for several seconds on the ground, then he was able to survive the rest of the round.)
This site is all about debating, its ok to argue as long as nobody takes it too seriously
Slip, but Canelo clearly won the fight. Lara was busted up and running for his life at the end.
this
can't believe people thought that Lara actually won
