Miguel Cotto vs. Juan Manuel Marquez @145

Who are you picking and why? :boxing: You mean prime, WW Cotto or the Cotto of today? The latter would be emaciated at 145, and would lose to Marquez by stoppage. The former... tough call but I would go with Cotto. Marquez has never proved he can hang with structurally bigger guys the way Manny has.

I voted a draw. They seem very evenly matched. Marquez is better for his size but Cotto is much bigger. Marquez would weight about 145 on fight night while Cotto would be about 160.Cotto's bigger size would cancel out Marquez's greater skills and it would be a very close fight. Cotto's younger age might give him a slight edge.

At 145, JMM rapes Cotto then Knocks him TF out. Cotto eats too many powers shots, and apparently he had trouble making the mid 140s. If Cotto were to have any shot, it would have to be at Jr. MW. Cotto is one of the most overrated fighters in the last 10 years. For some reason the *****s convinced the general public that Cotto was a legitimate threat- Cotto has looked shot for years, then he beats Delvin Rodriguez and suddenly he's on the upswing... Give me a break... Such a Flowmo. Yeah, his best weight is where he looks like a fat ass, out of shape fighter that don't give 3 fuggs about training. :fing26:

at 145 I think go with Cotto. I think JMM takes one too many left hooks from Cotto and is decked, hard to make the comeback because of Cotto's jab...loses SD.

Cotto would beat the hell out of jmm... Size skill and power would be too much down the stretch

Marquez wants his 5th weight class, go and chase Cotto if he beats Martinez! Cottos not that fast anyway, so Marquez would be able to keep up especially with his "biologist"

Tough call. Marquez lost to Bradley, but Cotto isn't as fast or as hard to hit cleanly as Bradley. If Cotto presses Marquez, Marrquez's probably drops and maybe stops Cotto with countershots. Marquez really developed his power at welterweight. On the other hand, if Cotto boxes on the backfoot, he could possibly win a decision. But stylistically, not a great fight for Cotto. He'd be up against a guy who feasts on fighters who come forward and has the skills to outbox him.

Again... Marquez WITHOUT Memo: Cotto wins via late stoppage, just too strong at WW. Marquez WITH Memo: Marquez wins a very close decision and drops Cotto a few times.
