For those who are curious about what Malignaggi said that got him fired, here's the quote.
"I don't believe there is racial oppression in 2020, in this century. I believe there has been, sure. I don't believe there's racial oppression today. I believe it's all made up. And I believe it's exaggerated."
Some people said Paulie was entitled to his opinion, others asked what took Showtime so long to fire the idiot.
Welcome to the US of A.

FYI, that is a piece of what he said. He also mentioned that he felt like it was past the era of African Americans in boxing, and that the current and future of boxing is being dominated by Eastern Europeans.
if he had said well eastern euros are more noticeable in boxing these days than they were and its not all african americans like we were used to, he surely would have been fine & him giving out about judges is not a bad thing imo, call out the BS
Ice-T once said Freedom of speech was mother fkkin bull chit, you say the wrong thing they lock your ass up quick. How right he was.
Quite clearly Showtime are as bad as the Nazi’s. Paulie had an opinion that wasn’t rude or racist or hateful, just not a popular opinion, and boom, sacked, freedom of speech out of the window.
Who got locked up for something they said?
Curiously they didn't fire him when, after the Broner fight, he called Tom Schreck a corrupt judge ("Tom Schreck is in Al Haymon's pocket, simple as that"), and said "boxing is full of shìt" live on air, on the very Showtime he was still working for at that moment.
There is misinformation out there. Malignaggi was not fired. He was benched for the rest of the year, paid his salary until the end of his contract and they simply did not renew his contract when it ended.
Also, they decided not to renew his contract after he refused to apologize. That's all he had to do, but he refused to apologize for the comments.
OK, Malignaggi wasn't fired by Showtime, he was just "let go" LOL

It's a tricky one, Freedom of Speech isn't freedom from consequence.
He got fired,...he ain't locked up.
Depends where you draw the line

White people love black entertainers, athletes, comedians, etc. The only thing they don't like is actual black people. What Malinaggi said was his opinion, and Showtime firing him for saying stupid s**t was their opinion. It's how the free market works.
When you sack somebody it is a fact, it may of been their opinion that he was wrong but it wasn’t their opinion to sack him.
white people stole all the wealth in this country through exploitation and murder of other races. also there was this thing called colonization that happened in africa...maybe you heard of it? hey black people heres a little bit back that we stole! lmao. oh now its even! just forget we started with all the wealth!
he was murdered. handcuffed, face down, not moving=resist?
most people who are happy with their situation are just perfectly fine living right where they are. you should study american interventionist policies in latin america. no american has any right to complain about anyone coming here from a country that the US overthrew and then installed a horrible right wing government upon its people which left them in squalor. if only things were so easy that we could ignore our foreign policy. cognitive dissonance anyone?
Your understanding of history is as poor as your understanding of politics. You are truly a small dumb person.
he said that on his own time not on showtime
they demanded he apologize.... why, even if he apologized because they coerced him into it then it wouldnt be a real apology in the first place. Why should he have to apologize when he committed no crime just because some people didnt like what he had to say? why are their opinions somehow more valid or right than his?
he has some balls to tell showtime to suk his dick.
i hope someone else hires him to commentate again

There is no fucking oppression. Bunch of whiny millionaires complaining about oppression while living in mansions. Stupid idiots. The fake news pushing hate white ppl. It's disgusting.
Paulie Malignaggi: “It’s No Longer the Time of the African American Anymore in Boxing"
i think this is the comment that did him in.
Yes and I believe he also said "The eastern European is the superior species in boxing." Which is not only a stupid thing to say but not even true; I counted the champions at the time and there were more African American than Eastern European world champions.
People are also failing to realize that Showtime in particular has positioned itself as a provider of content created by and featuring black people. That's not all they do, but it's their area of focus. Haymon's stable fits in nicely with stuff like Desus and Mero, City on a Hill, The Chi, Black Monday, etc.
And that's why Malignaggi's statements were particularly damning to the heads at Showtime.

I said this more than 15 years ago and I am going to repeat it:
First they will take our words, then our thoughts.
I thin I was right, freedom my arse!
