Lifting weights is definitely a problem in that division. If you do it after what you established such as a steady ww weight it hinders speed and it isn’t good on the bones which means punch power goes down. Keith to me was lifting during his off days and it made him less agile. Nothing wrong with weight lifting but you shouldn’t be doing it at WW.
Josesito Lopez is a tough out for anyone at 147. He had Maidana out on his feet, and broke Victor Ortiz down when Ortiz was still considered a winning fighter. People like to talk crap about fighters- in the words of Uncle Jeff, "most people don't know s**t about boxing." Thurman took care of business. It wasn't pretty, but he got the job done...
You're bringing up fights from more than 6 years ago,and the only thing of note that Lopez has done since being stopped by maidana,is be stopped by what was left of Andre berto. This was supposed to be Thurman's big return to the top of the division with the destruction of an old faded 140lb fighter. Now that he looked vulnerable,Lopez is suddenly tough for anyone at 147? He gets stopped by Garcia,Spence,Crawford, pac, horn,Khan,Brook,Porter, ugas, and he's already lost to Vargas. It seems like it's you who doesn't know much about boxing.
No,being out on your feet against the ghost of josesito Lopez is a bad performance. And let's not act as if he was putting on a masterclass after he went Bambi legs. He went full defensive mode, and was still being tagged with flush shots by a guy who has no power, handspeed,or footwork. They managed to find him a walking punching bag,and he still managed to get hit.
This.
Thurman will get put to sleep by PAC, bud, or Spence.

Losing two rounds and dominating the other 10 in a comeback fight is a bad performance?

I think he was just rusty.
He has been out for some time
The problem with this statement is that he started the fight red hot. If he was rusty, wouldn't he have a slow start? In reality, he just got hurt like he does in a lot of fights and then rebounded shortly after. Lopez won two or three rounds on most scorecards. It was a pretty typical Thurman fight to be honest. Will he get better with more fights? Of course, but not sure if rust was the main reason for that performance. Got a bit lackadaisical and got rocked. It happens. Against top guys he is usually more focused. Against lower tier fighters he will show enough vulnerability that will make one doubt just how good he is. But Thurman had good performances against both Porter and DSG for the most part. Not an easy out for anyone.

No, he didn't look like he was weight lifting. He was round (out of shape) being off & it seemed like he was training for the scale more than the fight but regardless where are you getting this "bad performance" from?? He looked good in the fight (a little skinny) other than getting caught on the ropes with a clean shot. He survived the round & showed grit (as Bud said) & won the fight clearly, off a 2 year lay off.

People don't seem to realize he spent a year not being able to do much of anything strenous with that arm. Looking at his arms one is clearly smaller than the other. It's similar to a collarbone injury, you can't do road work either.
