That stoppage was too soon. It was early in the round and both Acosta and Soto deserved better. If Acosta survives he keeps his title, but if he doesn't Soto's win doesn't get discredited.
Soto told reporters after the fight
"To be honest, I thought I was going to lose, and thank God I landed that punch and won the fight," said Soto
I'm a fan of this guy now well besides landing that beautiful hook & being clutch.
Wow, things are looking grim for Puerto Rican boxing... 3 of their champs lost titles in the last 6 months.
Goes to show you that fighters like Cotto and Calderon were once in a life time.
OH MY GOD!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT COMEBACK PUNCH LANDED BY SOTO!!!!!!! Crazy stoppage! Fantasy Springs is the HOUSE OF UPSETS!!!! I can understand Tito being pissed at this stoppage. #boxing #CancioMachado2 #DAZN— Douglass Fischer (@dougiefischer) June 22, 2019
I don't know, folks. There's no doubt that Acosta was hurt by that counter hook Soto landed, but he's a defending titleholder, he was winning the fight, which was almost over. I kinda wish Taylor gave him the opportunity to survive. #boxing #CancioMachado2 #DAZN— Douglass Fischer (@dougiefischer) June 22, 2019
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t kinda situation.
He was stunned and on his way to being KOd. I dont see him surviving two more minutes.
But he deserved more than what the ref gave him, for better or worse. Gotta do an immediate rematch.
In real time I thought that the stoppage was premature, but in the replay you can see Acosta had his hands down and was not defending himself. Tough break for the guy either way. Props to Soto for keeping his head in the game even when it appeared that he was on his way to losing. A helluva fight all around though. Fight of the year contender.
I know that's why I am so pissed off about the stoppage. Real boxing fans know it was wrong, it wasn't right or fair but those with hidden agendas, like that bullshit stoppage.
If I didn't know any better I would have thought the referee had a horse in the race. That's why there are certain venues that many fighters should try and avoid because the corruption, bias and partiality is so obvious.
States with large Mexican and Chicano populations like California and Texas should be avoided at all costs. It's because the officials favor the Mexican and Chicano fighter over the non Mexican or Chicano fighter.
Unless you are one of them, then chances are you won't get a fair shake there.
Hahahahahaha this guy is crying like a bi.tch
Acosta was fu.cking hurted and totally out
Look at his eyes
And Acosta was THE STAR
THE A SIDE
Soto just fought one time in National TV .
And he is from a small town of 15 mil habitants
You are stu.pid as hell
Miguel Cotto Promotions are friends of Golden Boy
Soto is a Zanfer fighter
Stu.pid.
And the fights are about 12 rounds
At till the end of the Bell in round 12
Good win to Soto that is a very humble champion
Rematch is needed and I hope they will have more money to both

If there was any fight that deserves to be an immediate rematch it's this fight.
That fight was one hell of a war. And boxing fans deserve to see that fight again.
