The only people who find Floyd "boring" are those who foolishly picked/bet against him, or morons who judge him off the "exhibitions". Off the top of my head, the Maidana rematch and Baldomir were the only fights that one can argue are legitimately boring. And IIRC, Floyd hurt his hand on Baldomir's giant skull, and went in with the gameplan to tie up Maidana at every opportunity.
Yeah it was a debbie downer of a fight for all that excessive foul clinching. People are laughing at Floyd's game to this day.
If you penalized Floyd for all that intentional hugging which is foul under the Queens Berry rules of boxing. Maidana won that fight.
Vegas saved Floyd's ass yet again. Not really a true undefeated in any means.
Maidana got ROBBED.

Greatest defensive fighter of all time.
- -When did the Sweet Science devolve into Stink and Run orchestration of TBA fighters in Stink and Run's Hometown and Home Judges?
U the graterest 2nd grader of all time?
Greatest defensive fighter of all time.
He just might be
But still boring most fights
He was fine up until 140-147 and up
The big guys made him more careful
He was entertaining 135 and down against similar size opponents
I can appreciate the sweet science in Mayweather. He’s the best boxer of my generation BUT he at times plays it safe. I get it. But it’s boring to watch at times.
I was laughing at the countless idiots who were bashing floyd/pacquiao as boring when true fans of boxing saw floyd's skills on display. He dominated pacquiao. These fans wanted pacquiao to KO floyd, but pacquiao hasn't KO'ed guys for a while, and they expected it to happen to one of the best fighter? GTFOH...stay mad...
I like chess matches between two high level guys. Floyd-Oscar was a very watachable match for me.
I appreciate the feints that setup those picture perfect punches
The sheer mastery displayed in Floyd-Alvarez worked for me
I never found him boring but I do enjoy that sort of style. I don’t find Rigo or Lara boring either, I always kind of enjoy watching a schooling especially if it’s a high level fight. As a guy who tried to box like that and usually failed miserably, I can certainly appreciate that style.
Can completely understand why casuals don’t enjoy it though, I remember a lot of my mates were like “what the f*** was that” after staying up all night watching Mayweather-Pacquiao. :lol1:
He beat Canelo so easily because Canelo was more drained than any other fight in his career.(Floyd was the rightful fighter of the decade of 2000s,so he doesn't need his fans to pretend that win doesn't have an asterisk.(not because of Canelos age though, but because of weight, just as Rocky Feilding can say about Canelo, its as obvious as can be that Canelo looked drained & that contributed greatly to the fight)
Love casuals lol, you don't even know what drained is, how about Cotto vs Manny was he drained? how about Oscar vs Manny was he drained?
Answer them and then i will know where you are as far as drained goes then we can discuss it with a reference point, and don't avoid the questions, were they drained or not ?
You can understand floyd's style and appreciate his defensive skills and find him boring at the same time.
You don't have to like defensive fighters to be a boxing fan.
Greatest defensive fighter of all time.
Yeah Floyd had about 30 ways to make you miss. He was really a joy to behold to anybody who appreciates defense.
Also, Floyd had something like 27 KOs I believe. He wasn’t Mike Tyson or anything but he had just enough power to keep a lot of folks honest. Shane Mosley was very complimentary of Floyd’s power iirc.
Floyd Mayweather Was Smart to Make Manny Pacquiao Bout 'Boring'
BRIAN MAZIQUE
MAY 09, 2015If you could describe the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout in one word, what would it be?
Dull, overrated or boring? Plenty of fans, respected boxing journalists such as Larry Merchant and fighters like Sergey Kovalev used the "B" word when describing the fight. Who is the person taking most of the criticism for the way the fight transpired? The winner, of course.

Can deny the truth.. It is what it is..
It's what defines him.
The 3 easiest wins of his career where truly great fighters were made to look ordinary were Manny JMM and Canelo he outclassed the 3 of them, Floyd beat those guys easier than Manny beat a shot, Brandon Rios.
Floyd is the Beethoven of modern boxing a true master in the art of boxing.
Where is this "Floyd schooled Manny" idea coming from?
There is an 800 page thread in the other section showing conclusive evidence of Floyd getting out landed by one armed Manny.
To this day, no one has offered a convincing rebuttal.
Face it - Floyd loaded up on illegal ivs, then had to run and hug all night against one armed Manny because he and his corner knew he was getting outclassed.
Landing 3 or 4 grazing jabs is not a schooling. The way Manny punished Floyd in the 4th with a monster left more closely matches the definition of schooling.
Who did Floyd actually school? Castillo was a robbery. Odh split decision lucky decision. Marquez brought up several weight classes. Canelo weight drained.
Floyd's best defense was fighting fighters on the way down, faded champs, little guys and weight drained 23 year olds. Look at how he blueprinting Tank Davis- dude is 26 years old has "championships in 3 weight classes" and is yet to actually fight a top dog in any of those weight classes. Floyd fought Pacquiao 6 years too late, and Canelo about 5 years too soon. Timing matters and Floyd's greatest skill was just that.
The only people who find Floyd "boring" are those who foolishly picked/bet against him, or morons who judge him off the "exhibitions". Off the top of my head, the Maidana rematch and Baldomir were the only fights that one can argue are legitimately boring. I see you folding over from being hit where it hurts
I am sticking to the subject.
Once again a pedestalizing Floyd Boy starts a thread about Floyd not being a boring fighter, when everything points to the contrary.
Floyd/Baldymir, that was a stinker to small proportions, but Floyd/Manny was a stinker to epic proportions.
Hitting without getting hit is what Boxing is about but people want to see action. I wouldn’t say he is boring but I sure wouldnt pay to watch him. I never have.
or when Floyd schooled manny and mentally crippled you in the process
That Carlos Baldymir debacle is absolutely cringeworthy. It's why you changing the subject to Manny right?
Schooling somebody doesn't necessarily mean the fight itself was exciting, and Floyd/Manny, was as cringeworthy as Floyd/Baldymir, only difference was more people were watching. Floyd hugged more than he landed punches. He threw a jab, missed and grabbed. Dude was hanging on for dear life.
I always liked seeing Floyd fight, and saw him in person once. He became more cautious as he moved up. But he could get in there with a guy who has been KO’ing people and make them look bad. The guy who goes undefeated was always going to be a defensive specialist. Everyone knew Floyd throws a lead straight right, yet that’s been one of the most effective punches in the era. Nobody had the reflexes to nullify it even though they knew it was coming. Action slug fest are exciting but if they can go either way and not lead to great winning streaks it’s not going to be worth as much as a guy who seemingly can’t be beat. “Pay to see me win, pay to see me lose, pay to see my trunks”. Like him or hate him, you had to see him.
