I don't understand how Maidana was making Floyd fight life and death to the final round while the supposed Hall of Fame legends were getting their ass beat every single round in dominating fashion vs Floyd. Those 3 guys won a combined 2 rounds vs Floyd. Floyd was on cruise control vs the "greats". All of a sudden the young upstart Maidana wins 5 clear rounds vs Mayweather. Doesn't make sense to me.
Because Maidana is willing to get hit to land his punches, something the others weren’t willing to do. Also, don’t get me wrong Maidana fought a great fight, but Floyd could have boxed and moved a bit more than he did in the first fight.
Because Maidana wasn't little like Pac or weight drained like Canelo, or way past his prime like Mosley. Paul Williams would have given Floyd trouble at 147, Sergio Martinez would have given Floyd a fight at 154. Instead we saw the who's who of the beatable bunch get lined up.
No Need to quote this is 100% accurate
Because fighters start overthinking when they are in there with Floyd Mayweather. They think too much and get out of character.
With Maidana, he went in there without being intimidated, with zero respect, and he just let his fists fly. He got off first and fought his fight, landing anywhere and everywhere without giving Floyd too much time to think.
Because Floyd was going through personal problems ppl forget & most importantly styles. make. fights!
What I will never forget is the pillows Floyd made Maidana wear.
As 100 people have already said.
Styles make fights.
This is also why I usually take Duran over Floyd in mythical matchups.
He's the original "I don't give a fxck" type of mauler
Styles make fights.
Most fighters have a key to open up their offence. Mayweather is pretty good at identifying that key and taking it away from them.
Maidana is someone who looks to kick the door down. He couldn't look to take his jab away, keep him at an angle, watch out for certain patterns etc.
Ran into similar problems with Augustus, but being the same size and closer to him, he let the cleaner work do the talking and outgunned him.

Floyd’s so good casuals and haters like you claim he loses fights if an opponent wins a few rounds. Maidana is one of my favourite fighters, followed his whole career...was hoping he’d beat Floyd but at best won 4-5 rounds. Floyd CLEARLY beat maidana... maidana had success because he made it a rough, dirty fight full of headbuts, rabbit punches and other fouls... that’s pretty much how to beat a guy light years above you in terms of skills.

1) because Mayweather CHOSE to fight him flat-footed in the 1st fight
2) because Maidana is unorthodox and a little wild
which is why Mayweather boxed on his toes in the rematch
I love Chino, but he is seriously over-rated
he beat a over-rated 140lb'er, who did not turn out to be that good... and he performed better than expected against Mayweather... that's about it... he only landed that fight because he beat Mayweather Jnr
sorry, but he was a total cherry-pick... Mayweather selected Chino simply because they thought that he would be a look-good showcase opponent... Floyd's 'Gatti at 147' moment... they viewed Maidana as a limited flat-footed punchbag, because they saw how easily he got outboxed by Devon Alexander
Mayweather heard shlthead casual-fans pull that "feather-fisted runner" garbage, and he was looking to enhance his reputation with another Gatti performance
totally different story when Floyd boxed Chino on his toes
Because you brawl a boxer and box a brawler. If I were a fighter, I’d fight Floyd just like maidana and Castillo did. You’re NOT gonna outbox him, just jump on him and not head hunt. Hit his arms, elbows, shoulders, and mix in a couple of low blows and rough him up. That’s how you beat a guy like mayweather. Sitting back throwing one or 2 punches at a time to his head will get you shut out or a 9-3 type of loss.

Maidana KOed Lopez who nearly stopped Thurman who Manny fanboys think was a massive win after 2 yrs out and major surgerys , you need to understand the sport because when I read your ideas I just see fanboy in neon lights.
Maidana has heart, balls ,and power . you see his highlights . he went out like a g in every major fight . Garcia refined his skills so it just wasn't a street fight . he had good defense and a good jab . if he really would've focused he could a hurt him like when he knocked out his tooth in the 2nd fight

Floyd was troubled by fighters that brought the fight to him. Floyd thought Maidana would be easy money & underestimated Maidana's will & jab that night
Only when he felt like fighting toe to toe, when he boxed on his toes he schooled the very same guys in rematches.
Its just styles. Maidana is super relentless (3/4 of the fight) and its very difficult to control him as long as he pushes the pace hard. Mayweather likes a patient pace so that he has an easier time to get a read on his opponent.
Maidana just went for it and didnt give mayweather room to think much. Most guys are also wary of mayweathers counter punches and that consequently slows down the pace for mayweather. Maidana didnt really care lol.
When Maidana started to slow down in the second half, Mayweather started to time him better, had more space and outboxed him. For some reason mayweather also didnt clinched as much in the first half (which he changed in the rematch). An ugly but efficient way to stop a relentless pressure fighter is the hit and hold strategy. Same thing that Alexander applied vs maidana.
