I thought Marquez looked pretty good last night.
At 135, he could be competitive with Pacquiao imo.
Anything above 135 against Pacquiao and he gets beat though.
I'd favor Khan against him also but i would still give Marquez a decent chance.
I would prefer Katsidis.
Katsidis has deserved his shot at Marquez for quite a while now and it would be a legit world lightweight championship fight.
Khan however should focus on things in his own division instead of picking on lightweights. The 140 pound weight class is top notch so it's not like there's a shortage of good opponents to face for him.
I would rather Dawson fought Pascal straight away and try to reclaim his throne.
There's no doubt Dawson can do much better in a rematch.
Maybe a tune up before wouldn't be a bad idea but i personally think he doesn't need it now.
Most people's problem with him is that he can be too dominant so his fights end up boring especially when he appears happy to cruise to a decision. He also appears to lack a killer instinct when the finish is there to take.
Hopefully after his first loss, he puts more effort into getting his opponents out of there.
I'm a fan of his but he could of taken his first loss more professionally and given Pascal more credit for fighting a good fight.
I gave him four rounds, and I felt sorry for him after the 8th. I tried to give him rounds but could only give him 4. I think five would have been too much. 8-3 for Pascal was also acceptable.
Theres no doubt that Pascal deserved it no matter what.
Dawson should of thrown more, simple as.
You should rewatch the fight.
Based on what ?
I gave Dawson 4 rounds and you gave him 5.
I said you could argue Dawson won 5 rounds but it would be very hard to argue him winning anymore than that.
I personally don't know how anyone could have Dawson ahead after 11 rounds and i'm a big fan of Dawson.
I wouldn't call it a super six if it does happen because there's nothing "super" about that division. It's one of the weakest if not the weakest division in the sport.
I have Cloud winning this one.
Pascal has below average stamina and Cloud fights for every minute of every round.
Pascal will land some big shots but i feel Cloud is durable enough to get through them and keep pressuring Pascal and landing more of his own shots.
Khan against Paulie.
Then again we have to take into account style matchups, and based on what Paulie brought to the table, he was there to make Khan look good in his debut in America.
the styles were comparable but the fights were so different.
Pacquiao - Clottey was totally one sided in favor of Pacquiao. Pacquiao threw, threw and threw some more. Clottey was more than happy for the shots to hit of his gloves and sometimes Pacquiao would land especially to the body. Clottey barely even attempted to throw most of the fight.
Alexander - Kotelnik was a clear win for Kotelnik imo. Devon outworked him in most of the rounds but most of his shots touched Kotelniks gloves while Kotelnik's shots were clean and very effective plus he came forward and controlled the pace of the fight. Kotelnik also threw far more than shots than Clottey.
Khan is a better boxer and has more power than Kotelnik but Kotelnik has very good defense and a way better chin.
Khan's defense has improved but he can be caught.
Devon's best chance to beat Khan is to take him out (which he can do) because I see Khan outboxing him otherwise.
Devon looked like a prospect who had one world class veteran opponent too soon last night which is surprising really considering his previous fights where he looked top notch against good competition.
Devon has alot of talent but he has things he needs to work on (like his defense) to help him compete at the top level.
Khan certainly has the skills to beat any 140 pounder out there right now.
His only downfall is his chin, which might let me down against good/big punchers.
This is what I don't understand. Good competition? Who exactly has he beaten? That is why I never understood the hype around this boy.
Corley, Witter and Urango were all decent/good fighters.
I've suffered from the same problem as Cotto when i started boxing.
As a lefty, it's hard to keep that foot from crossing over. I don't do it much now, but it still happens now and again.
Bradley's last fight was at 147.
Bradley is still clearly the man at 140.
My list (top 6):
1. Bradley
2. Khan
3. Kotelnik
4. Alexander
5. Maidana
6. Ortiz
