This would have to be done before all of these boxers made it in the sport.
I want to see the gang member Maidana vs the glue sniffing tundra thug Provodnikov vs the drunk and d*ck slinging Pacquaio.
Team GGG already agreed to terms, they changed it and hence opened up this can of worms we are dealing with now.
That is you believing what Golden Boy says to the media.
GGG fans are gonna be mad :lol1:
Why????
I'm a Golovkin fan. I'm happy with this.
I would rather see Golovkin-Charlo only because Canelo tends not to be in very fun fights but its still a high quality match that Golovkin will be slightly favored in.
Nah...Golovkin will fight in May, and then fight Canelo in September. They will both make their money. This is really just a delay and Canelo deserves the hit he is taking for being an idiot or more likely being a cheater.
This will only suck for Golovkin if he doesn't get a Spring fight.
ya...cause HBO hasn't spent a few years building GGG hype by paying him to fight can after can
HBO basically sucks on golovkins taint...just because he actually had a close fight with canelo and you guys cant open your eyes to it doesn't mean its HBOs fault
HBO has promoted the hell out of Golovkin, but the HBO boxing commentators, particular Max go out of their way to give credit whenever anyone has a decent half round against Golovkin. A few years ago, Golovkin was knocking guys out in a few rounds and Max would try to spin it into "Now maybe Golovkin has shown to be vulnerable enough for others to get in the ring with him"...I think that was after the Monroe fight where Golovkin punished him and knocked him down and made him quit (but Monroe had one decent round).
This was a crappy, boring fight but almost every fighter has had a boring fight. Joshua deserves some criticism for not taking any risks, but he IS getting criticism.
Canelo isn't fighting in Mexico. He has had chances to fight at stadiums in Mexico but it just doesn't generate the same amount of money as fighting in the United States.
Boxing is a tough sport and many guys are already burnt out by the time they become professionals.
I think with guys like Russell, they just don’t love the sport. I can’t really blame him but I am a fan of guys who you can tell have a passion for boxing. When he needs the money, he will fight again.
It depends how much the fight is worth. Is that figure somewhere between 35 and 40% of the anticipated revenue of the fight? If so, then its a good deal. If not, (which I expect), then it is too low. Best bet is to take a 35%-40% percentage without a guarantee and work to make it a great promotion.
I dunno on the strength thing he's got a punch on him for his age
When a young one can bang like that it's an issue for any fighter
He seems to have a lot of power and explosiveness but I agree with the poster who said he needs more strength...not with his punches but with standing his ground and not getting pushed around...I haven't seen him get pushed around but he looks susceptible to that just because of how young and undeveloped his body is.
is Golovkin the best fighter of all time? If not, then why is held to the most ridiculous standards where if he gets hit with a punch, loses a round, or makes a minor mistake in a fight. Max Kellerman has been doing this for over 5 years now..someone lands a jab and all of a sudden “the monster is vulnerable!” Lol
It’s disappointing but it’s better than not fighting at all. It’s obvious the plan is Canelo in September. It’s A disgrace as a title fight..it should just be a non-title fight...but as a last minute tune up fight, I don’t really care.
It just requires some common sense. Spike fights on May 4th, has been all over social media saying he was ready to step in and suddenly he is gone quiet and pulls out, releases a weird statement praising Golden Boy?
Golden Boy controls Spike, he is under GBs contract.
Yup. And Canelo controls Golden Boy.
When the discovery from the Haymon lawsuit came out, it was revealed that over 90% of GB’s revenue comes from Canelo fights. Without him, GB loses money on almost every event.
Not saying this as a diss to GB. It’s extremely hard to turn a profit in boxing without a star.
Which is why they are starting to move Ryan Garcia faster now...he can potentially bring in profits that aren’t there from non-Canelo events
I'm ok with it. He isn't only a reporter. He is also paid for his opinion.
AB has obviously been babied and he doesn't deserve sympathy after all of the chances he's had to stop being a b**ch.
Canelo will definitely take the rematch.
I just hope they put it in a big stadium so real fans can actually attend and will take the stink away from having it in Vegas.
First it was Canelo will NEVER fight GGG
Then GGG will KO Canelo easily
Then oK he went 12 but draw is a robbery
Now Canelo won't have a rematch?
Just like idiots saying Ward wouldn't rematch Kovalev. Too much money for both guys a rematch will absolutely happen and Canelo will beat this boy even more convincingly the second time. That's why you hear the GGG fans now screaming they don't want see a rematch. GGG never came close to hurting Canelo and missed all night long badly. They keep making excuses he looked bad against Brook (oh he just didn't fear brook so he LET HIM PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE lol). Then he looked bad against Jacobs (oh he just didn't want to kill Jacobs so he went 12 rounds on purpose to let Canelo think he slipped and would agree to fight him. Watch he will be back to the animal killer against Canelo). GGG literally get's worse every time out his last 3 fights. But you think he's going to be better not worse in the rematch? LMAO
Golovkin did great things in the Jacobs and Canelo fights. You can't hold him to a standard of destroying everyone at this age and against this opposition. He looked good on Saturday and will look good again in the rematch. Lets see who makes the needed adjustments.
The money is fine. He probably just made over 10m from that fight. And the next fight he won't have deal with mayweather mcgregor and ggg will make more even if his split is the same.
But yes, a fight like this needs a huge venue where real fans can afford to buy a ticket. Let's see if oscar will do something for the fans.
They are both A level fighters. Most of the fighters discussed on this board are all A level fighters with maybe a few B's mixed in. Some of the guys you people call bums or C level fighters is astounding.
These threads hating on Golovkin (and a few hating on Canelo) are so stupid. Nobody got exposed. Both are excellent fighters and the rematch will be fascinating. Like it or not, Golovkin is going to be a hall of famer! and so will Canelo. Grow up.
I read somewhere that he did add a new strength and conditioning coach for this camp.
But Golovkin doesn't even use a strength a conditioning coach.
Canelo seems to just have naturally poor stamina. It is his biggest weakness because it reduces his punch output and he is a very accurate puncher.
This thread is an exaggeration. Golovkin landed clean plenty of times and won more rounds than Canelo. He fought his ass off and his footwork in cutting off the ring was pristine. Canelo is a great fighter and excellent defensive instincts.
Very good fight but Golovkin won. He swept 6 rounds in the middle fight clearly And won 2 more on my card. This sport is so currupt. Excellent performance by both guys. I know this place is a anti-Golovkin haven with trolls, but anyone who calls either of these guys overrated or hypejobs is a loser.
It’s been printed before but nobody really knows because nobody has ever asked Gassiev.
He did have 2 fights on pbc programming but it was on the Tuesday night foxsports1 series I believe. His last couple of fights haven’t had any Haymon tie.
He’s done. I can’t see him becoming a respectable gatekeeper or semi-contender type. He isn’t stable as a man.
He is more like to continue to self destruct and end up dead or in prison or broke.
