This dude has not fought since last May and I haven't seen anything happening anytime soon.
It is a shame because he has the fastest hands in the business and they are many good match ups if he gets it going again.
The Word in Diaz's gym is that the fight is pretty much Set . Pretty sure it will be in So Cal. I guess they're just figuring out the date .
Should be a good fight . I got Diaz SD if it does happens next .
I think it will be Diaz first lost . They have been feeding Diaz tomatoes cans which does nothing to get you ready for Russell
I checked if he had any lined up and I don't see anything any where except for a rumor of a coming up fight. I know he is Mr TBD but it is such a waste to just be on the shelf for so long between fights.
All those good match ups won't happen because he is going to blame inactivity and will have to take an interim fight.
I know that he is heavily involve with boxing in his gym and with other fighters
Gary just boxes because he’s good at it doesn’t seem like a passion
He’s seems to be inactive by choice
As a fan wish he’d be more active but it’s his prerogative and I’m not going to hate
I know their are alot of belts going round and it would take up alot of prime time tv.
But their are alot of days throughout a year, maybe they could show championship titles during a week day.
If the networks wanted championship boxing during the week, they'd already have it. The industry is at the mercy of the networks.
I thought he was suppose to be fighting Joesph Diaz

Okay thank you for your thoughts, but have you considered that TV networks don't have enough dates to accommodate this?
And that if the organizations instituted 3 mandatories per year that the major promoters would revolt and all of the organizations would go out of business?

I admit im fairly new to boxing but to only see a boxer fight once a year if you are a fan seems a long time between drinks.
Also for a contender to only get that one chance seems a bit long especially when their are multiple contenders to a belt.
I think if boxers own a belt and have no excuse to not fight it should be mandatory that they fight at least 2 maybe 3 times a year.

I think getting humiliated by a white guy really hurt his confidence.
You're a much much better poster than this. Not once has Russell ever mentioned Loma's race. He's spoken only about their bout and his yearning for a rematch one day. So cut that bull**** out and keep it pushing.
Nothing happened. He prefers to fight once a year. Boxing is his job. He treats it as a job. He sees no reason to fight more often than that. That's his choice.

Their are other young guys just itching for the chance for a title and fighting once per year makes that a very drawn out process.

Nothing happened to him. He is the very talented WBC featherweight champion of the world and as you say he last fought clear back in May. He isn't injured so there is no good excuse for such inactivity. I remember a time when champions defended their world title 3 or even 4 times a year. Today some champions don't even make 1 title defense every year.
I think it has some effect. Papa Russell is the black supremacist type. Cried to Fight Hype about one of his boys losing in the Golden Gloves claiming that the judges didn't want a black set of brothers to match a Golden Gloves record set by some European set of brothers. Losing so badly in every facet of the game f*cked with Gary mentally and tarnished his family name.
Well maybe with Russell himself... but it's a shame it needs to be that way.

I dont think it's a white or black thing, but getting schooled so bad I think really hurt him. The s as me would happen to Davis.
He just doesn't seem interested in the game which is a shame. He has talent and he's entertaining.
Once a year for the last three years. I guess he's gonna fight Diaz next. Maybe the inactivity will catch up to him soon. Dude said he'd beat Lomachenko 99/100 times. How many lifetimes would he have to live to fight that many times?
