It just requires some common sense. Spike fights on May 4th, has been all over social media saying he was ready to step in and suddenly he is gone quiet and pulls out, releases a weird statement praising Golden Boy? Golden Boy controls Spike, he is under GBs contract. Yup. And Canelo controls Golden Boy. When the discovery from the Haymon lawsuit came out, it was revealed that over 90% of GB’s revenue comes from Canelo fights. Without him, GB loses money on almost every event. Not saying this as a diss to GB. It’s extremely hard to turn a profit in boxing without a star. Which is why they are starting to move Ryan Garcia faster now...he can potentially bring in profits that aren’t there from non-Canelo events

If Spike agreed with the purse, the fight would've been made. The negotiations took place, which means that the short notice wasn't a turn off; so unless GBP promised him a shot at Canelo, Spike would not be forced to turn down a shot at GGG and not be shouting "injustice" at the top of his lungs.

Piss off Canelo? Actually, I think they want to save Spike for Canelo. Rumors from months ago had Canelo fighting Spike in September, win or lose against GGG.

Whatever the reason was that he pulled out.. good. That fight was ass juice anyway.

My first thought when I heard his name mentioned is that GB wouldn't want to participate. It's in their best interest if GGG scraps the May date all together. If some last-minute nobody throws a lucky punch and knocks him out, Canelo misses out on a lot of money.

Why they block this fight? Oscar could make some extra dollar to pay for his hookers.
