It's called trash talk you mong.
DeGale is talented but Groves fought a great gameplan and nicked the decision. I'll be shocked if DeGale doesn't hold a SMW belt at some stage in the future.
I dunno.
I like Martinez, but I dont think he will take this easy. Ya he's a better technician, but he's still there to get hit.
With Pavlik, you cant be hit...because he can hurt you.
I got Pavlik by a late round stoppage. Should be awesome fight though!! :)
Agree completely. Just cos Bernard Hopkins can do it, doesn't mean Sergio Martinez can. I think Martinez will start better but as he slows down, Pavlik will start getting the better of it from round 4 or 5 onwards.
I wouldn't call him over-rated by ANY stretch of the means. He is very talented, obviously.
He can fight inside, outside, side to side, switch stance,etc... how many fighters are effective with this at the moment?
His olympic record and amateur career suggest he is a top fighter-especially considering the fact that he hasn't lost a fight since he was a kid.
He has all the potential in the world, but I want to see if it translates into a brilliant professional career.I suspect it will, but it is early stages.
Agree with this. I don't think he's over-rated at all. It's warranted as he's shown tremendous ability and he's already been in with top 10 opposition in Miranda and Kessler. Other than Dirrell I don't see any super middle running him close. He's got a very versatile style and once he makes the top 10 P4P, he'll more than likely stay there for the duration of his career.
I really didn't think it was that bad. Like someone said before, Lewis and Holmes had similar tights on a regular basis also. I'd love to see Wlad-Valuev just to see how he handles a really big man.
I hear you man! I often feel that way about certain fights. Froch Kessler should be entertaining, especially when you consider the styles: a hard hitting come forward guy with limited defence, against a guy with decent fundamentals who rarely backs up, and was recently beaten. But Mayweather-Mosley is just too big a fight to not be extremely amped for. It answers so many questions and for once, the welterweight division will be clear cut. Clottey, Cotto and Margarito are moved down the pecking order while Pac and the May-Mosley winner are the only two left standing.
Got to give credit to Martinez that came to fight an excellent fight. Kelly is no bum, he has a good chin, heavy hands, stamina is good and keeps comming. He will still do better than 95% of the MW right now. Is he great? I say no, but he is a challenge to anybody around his weight class.
This perfectly sums it up.
He's just not co-ordinated enough to do well against guys with good movement. I'd still give him a very good shot against Williams to be honest.
You could tell by his posts he was a really good guy and judging by the amount of time he spent here, he must really have loved this site. RIP Samurai.
TS im sure you prob only watch a handfull of floyd fights if all you think he does is potshot. because out of 40 he pot shot the majority of the fight in only about 3 4 maybe 5 with injuries. but then again i question most fo the posters on this site. and if his opponent isnt making any adjustments and is geting hit same shot over and over thats their fault
Exactly.
Floyd threw a shitload of punches in the vast majority of his fights. Watch Corrales, Gatti, Corley, N'dou. He went at it with them. At higher weights he's more sparing with his shots. But if you can potshot elite fighters an still win, that means you are a master of your craft. Hate all you want, but it is what is. If all he does is throw one shot at a time, then beat the man. I can't think of anyone out there right now that can. Pacquaio and Williams have a chance I guess.
Bute really has come in over 180 pounds??? I always thought he would come in between 174-178 range.
When was the last time Williams did 147?? If he can make 147, why doesn't he go back to 147??
He campaigned there for a long time and couldn't get any big fights. Did you only start watching boxing in the last year?
If you put a brawler and a technical fighter in the ring together.Provided the brawler have stronger in punching power, chin and stamina. The brawler win 7 out of 10 fights.
What? That is such a simple black and white outlook with no logical base whatsoever.
I think if Khan doesn't put some hurt on Timmy early.... it's Bradleys fight. If he can make it a scrap(which he pretty much always does), he'll win. If he doesn't finish Khan off he'll outpoint him. I don't see Khan having the luxury of running away and protecting a lead in the later rounds.
Don't you remember the way people complained when the Marquez vs Katsidis was stopped too early?
The Donaire vs Montiel fight was stopped perfectly. The referee was just giving Fernando a chance.
Agree.
He tried to give the champion a chance, but stopped it once it was clear he wasn't going to fight back.
I have a question for you, Mr. Malone. If the NFL adds more games to the season, will those games be on PPV because of broadcasting budgets? NO! Ask yourself why that is, and then you'll see why we need boxing to get back on the networks.
Comparing the broadcasting of NFL games to boxing matches is ridiculous.
If he beats Khan, I can't see it not happening.
But I imagine it'll be late 2012.
As an aside, If Khan was to beat Bradley I presume we'll be robbed of a Khan-Pacquaio fight? Same trainer... know each other well... Goldenboy vs Toprank
I agree with pretty much all the comments in this thread.
Haye has to make his right hand count if he's to have any chance. The success I see him having will come from explosive bursts. He'll be picking and choosing his moments and on his bike for the rest of it. I think he'll also find Wlad is much better at shutting up shop than he used to be. It's entirely possible he could hurt Wlad with a good shot. Enough to stop him? I doubt it. His finishing is a little over-rated. He can be a bit sloppy and Wlad is a bigger guy than the Ruiz and Barrett's of the world. 2 or 3 knockdowns necessary to stop Wlad outright I imagine, which will be difficult because Wlad has learned how to survive when hurt.
I see Wlad picking up the rounds, haye having moments here and there and on his bike all night. He'll probably cry robbery after it aswell. I hope it's the bloodbath people think it'll be but I just don't see it....
The Klitschkos are so dominant because they have excellent boxing skills, amazing athleticism, very high boxing IQs, great punching power, etc.
If size is all that matters, then the top heavyweights would be Marcellus Brown, Julius Long, Jameel McCline, Nicolay Valuev, Michael Grant, Tyson Fury, Ray Austin, Evgeny Orlov, Alexander Dimitrenko, Tye Fields, etc. All of them are bigger than the Klitschkos.
Arreola KO'd McCline.
Vitali dominated every round and KO'd Arreola.
Chambers dominated Dimitrenko.
Wlad dominated every round and brutally KO'd Chambers.
Chagaev clearly beat Prime Valuev in impressive fashion.
Wlad dominated every round and KO'd Chagaev.
and there are many more examples.....
I know this poster is a big Klitschko fan, but a valid point is made here.
Wlad has a great jab, very good power (right hand and left hook), decent footwork, is well conditioned and has a solid defence.
Vitali has an awkward style, good power, good defence, very good chin, and very good stamina.
Both show composure that comes with experience also.
List the qualities of other heavyweights and you'll be doing well to tick as many boxes as the Klits do.
If they were 6'2 they'd be small heavyweights. Would their fights be more competitive? Probably. But they'd still be arguably the most skilled HW's in the world and definitely be holding/challenging for belts.
March is Spring to my knowledge..!
For some reason I'm looking forward to Vitali-Solis quite a bit.
Great list though man, to be honest 60-70% of those fights get me goin... it's about time we've had a number of fights to look forward to!
I still believe Floyd wins.
Expect a fight with half the action of Pacs usual fights.
Floyd will baton down the hatches early and make Manny look for openings that will be much much harder than what he's used to.
I think people are overestimating what Pac's activity will be able to do in this fight. He has tremendous activity against the Clottey's and Margarito's. But against Floyd he'll (1) Have less to throw at. (2) Be getting punished for mistakes often, which will knock him off his rhythm somewhat.
I see it being a totally different ball game.
Unless he gets Floyd hurt and finishes him off, it's likely going to be a Floyd UD.
i see ppl still havent given up on another less skilled fighter with a cult following because of his style. however, i dont see him beating ward. hes no good at anything but punching hard. do u kno what negates hard punches??? two things, distance and close range infighting. u pick em, ward can do either.
I agree with this.
I see the potential danger TS pointed out, but I think Ward will be just too ring savvy for Abraham. Then again, it's crossed my mind that AA's back is against the wall at the moment, he's almost off the radar and should be looking to put in a career saving performance.
i've never seen Wlad throw lead right hands or leaping left hooks. i've never seen Wlad really slip punches, roll punches, or even really counter an opponent. i very rarely seen Wlad go to the body and stand in his opponent face despite being way bigger than his opponent. i've never seen Wlad show freakish athletism or cat like reflexes.
all i see from Wlad is a jab and then a right hand over the top. over and over again!
Watch Mayweather fight, then watch Wlad fight...they fight NOTHING alike.
These two sum it up.
They don't fight the same, and you not being able to spot the difference makes you look pretty stupid.
It's like how when you just wanna have sex with as many chicks as possible. But then one day you see this chick and you don't know why but you love her. Even with all her faults, you love her.
And you think "Oh she's the one". And you try to win her heart but then she ends up having doggystyle outside of a theater with some guy with lots of tattoos who treats her like shit.
And ever since then you just won't let yourself fall in love again. You promise you'll never be hurt like that again. You're just always waiting for the next shoe to drop.
Well I refuse to live that way. I love Floyd vs. Pac and if Floyd vs. Pac break my heart again so be it. But at least I will be alive. I mean really alive.
Pahaha. Your JCC Jr stuff is lame but that was funny enough.
