Just wanted to inform certain posters who say Paul Williams should fight people his height and that he shouldnt be a WW.
His only loss came to a WW.
Who stands 5-9.
That is all.
BigPoppaPump himself has even said that HBO shit on a rubber match with Quintana and Williams. If he's right, then God is right.
Well there you have it. Case closed..lol.
Dudes like you can't be objective one bit. Answer this for me, do you think Williams would've let some green fighter like Berto knock him out with an injured bicep? Do you think Quintana could beat Sergio Martinez or even Winky Wright (Yeah, I said it)? So to me, if anybody's win was a fluke it was Quintana's and if anybody had an off night it was Paul Williams. I can't think of one legit reason why a rubber match for that rivalry was warranted. If you can give me one, then enlighten me on it.
Add to that Quintana didn't accomplish a damn thing after his second fight with Williams. Other than sitting out for a year. These people pretending that the public was clamoring for a Williams-Quintana rematch are lying to themselves and this forum. When did HBO or any promoters show any interest in that fight? This is nothing more than an attempt to somehow discredit Paul Williams by calling the second fight a "fluke". When you look at both fighters post rematch I think it's clear which fight was more likely the fluke. The better question should be why Margarito never wants to rematch fighters that beat him. How about that question? That should be looked at before questioning Paul Williams about a 3rd fight with Qunitana. Margarito doesn't look for the second unless he won the first time. That's a question a lot of people don't want to address.
A fighter can fight at whatever weight he wants but for heavens sake why not actually respect the sport, win the championships and then move up a weight. Jumping between them looking for the biggest fight is just lame when you've not actually achieved p4p status.
That has to be some of the most ridiculous logic I've ever seen. In prize fighting you ALWAYS go for the big fight. You go where you can fight and p4p is subjective. There's is nothing written in stone about that. And it's not official. And last time I checked, Paul Williams did win a championship.
Yeah especially since they went through months of training and time in their dressing room before the fight to come out warm. This is professional boxing and the "getting caught cold" is just an excuse for getting knocked cold. I've heard that stupid excuse after Jones-Griffin and Lewis-Golota. Some people just can't accept that boxers can sometimes get knocked out early.
Thank you.....
Ive heard that "caught cold" from mostly Pac fans.
Yet they did backflips when Pac knocked Hatton out.
I didnt hear ONE of them say Hatton was caught cold. So they need to cut that shit short.
I'm not trolling you idiot. Dude, Quintana even said it himself that he wanted a rubber match a while back. I think even an article came out on here. No bullshit.
You're dead wrong bro about no one giving a shit.

I think the getting caught cold excuse is strange (didn't Montell Griffin use that same excuse against Jones?). It's not like Quintana looked like sh*t. He came in and did his thing for about 30 seconds - even landed a couple times with his hooks and straight lefts just like the first fight. PW was just on a whole other level that night.

You'd say that cause you would want Williams to get all the glory. Williams ducked a rubber match. Its not hard to see it.
Get off his nuts. I'm still laughing at your dumbass saying he has a better resume than Calzaghe .
His resume is better than Calzaghe's. Before Pavlik beat Martinez, I might've been inclined to give the slight edge to Calzaghe. But what the fuck has Kessler done here lately? I even think Froch will beat his brains out tommorrow night because he's a mentally weak robot. Beating a close to prime Margarito in his back yard also trumps anything on Calzaghe's resume except maybe his close win over Hopkins since Hopkins is considered more of an elite fighter than Margarito is.
I never said you weren't the dude's fan. But by the same tokken you rep him in a way that turns people against him.
It is what it is. People hate on him for NO reason. I never hailed him as Sugar Ray Robinson. People spew way too much BS when it comes to Paul in NSB. Maybe due to the fact that he calls out their favorite fighters 24/7. Has nothing to do with me.
Iceta please. I was the first Williams fan on this site. How the fukk am I not a real fan?

Man, this thread is a big cluster fuck of people trollin left and right. Real talk. The Paul Williams haters are here to stay and we've got Burner to thank for it. Guys like me and that other dude that used to post in here named Cruzan Mario are the good Paul Williams fans.
But even though I'm not biased toward Paul, I'll call out people who call the guy a diva. He made a miscalculation by not fighting Pavlik, and that was because he didn't trust the dude when it came to him getting in the ring like he was supposed to and it cost him time and money. Another thing people need to take into consideration is that Pavlik isn't the draw he used to be. The attendance for his fight with Martinez was weak compared to his fights with Taylor and Hops. I don't think Paul should've demanded 50-50. But the money should've been at least a little more in his favor after the shit that Pavlik pulled.
I know Pavlik had a legit injury. But I think that infection healed up eventually or else why would he have fought Espino?

Good point guys, although I'd love to see Pacquaio vs Duran (my favourite fighter). I don't think that is easy to pick. Wouldn't call any of them bonafide ATGs either, but anyway I take your point.
Actually I can see a spot for him at 8-10 on my p4p list, as boxing is pretty weak right now outside of Mayweather and Pacman.
So we're all in agreement then. Williams is doing the right thing fighting Cintron, then he needs two more fights in 2010 lined up against some out of Foreman, Spinks, Martinez, Sturm, maybe Pavlik if he wants to get exposure at middleweight.
IMO Quintana has more plausible excuses than Williams. Anyone can get caught cold, but not many people can get decisively beaten over 12 rounds by a lesser guy when they are supposed to be as dangerous as P Will is.

Could it occur to you Quintana might of had an off night like Williams' in the 1st fight??

Anyway as for Williams fighting at 147 he's welcome to it and if he ever is weight drained its his own fault so whats the problem?
I like the guy, I just don't accept that he is a pure victim, most avoided etc....
Nor do I think he's as good as many on here do. Can you imagine what a younger Hopkins would do to him, or Calzaghe, or Trinidad. He almost got decked by Martinez.
Victim? Who cares about that? And why am I imagining what Joe Calzaghe would do to a former welterweight champ?
Anyway, Williams is one of the best fighters in the sport, willingly seeks out the best and is also entertaining. That was my point.

Just the fact that you had to garb three hall of famers and ATG's proved my point.
Can you imagine what Duran, Leonard and Hearns would do to Pacquiao?
See what I did there?
You can do that with any fighter bro.
