I noticed this too. Watch the Juanma Lopez vs Salido fight and you'll notice that the Cleto reyes gloves they used are also more square than the usual Reyes glove. Maybe now they offer different styles of gloves like Everlast does. These look more like a Grant gloves, but Ive also seen the safetec gloves and the original pro fight gloves.
Theres hype for Canelo, but all I've seen since the promotion started is the idea of floyd winning handedly outweighing any opinion of Canelo winning. Experts by far have picked or insinuated a floyd victory.
I called and spoke to a manager last night and he confirmed that all TW subscribers will be able to order the fight on Sept. 14!
He said that PPV is a separate entity and since we are paying they can show whatever they wish. He guaranteed me that I will be able to order the fight and they won't be any problems. Game on!
I also got a discount of 10 bucks on my bill and I now get HBO, TMC, Skinemax, and stars at no extra charge because of the inconvenience haha
Did they just offer u all those channels and that discount cause all I got was a bunch of bs, starz, and a lousy $2 credit for last month
I suspect that Canelo will probably take the Molina fight first since it'll be a tune-up and if he KO's him get his confidence back while having the IBF Jr. Middleweight Championship. After that I can see him trying to entice Miguel Cotto for a PPV fight. Golden Boy right now is setting up their future PPV stars in Broner & Canelo and if they start having big time success Peter Quillin could take on a Canelo etc. to become PPV worthy.
I agree with the part where he fights for Molinas title, but if Cotto wins his next fight then his next fight is on hbo b and possibly against martinez. Now if theres a rematch between lara and angulo and angulo wins out then anyone with some common sense can see how that fight with a good undercard will get lots of attention. If broner v maidana can be a ppv then a possible canelo v angulo would probably be too. And if he beats angulo and lets say a year and a half from now, and floyds having trouble finding marketable opponents then a rematch would be an option. Probably reaching with the last part but could happen.
The only reason I've bought Mayweathers ppvs is because of the high profile Mexican incentive. His last 4 fights have had a HIGH profile mexican fighter in them. Marquez, then Canelo on the undercard of his last three fights. Yes, Canelo is high profile, maybe not elite but high profile. I appreciate good boxing in all its different styles but that being said, if I'm going to pay up $60 to watch a ppv boxing event I need that Mexican presence involved. Some people like to use that as an argument to explain Mayweather ppv numbers, but I'm just simply giving you guys my reason and the perspective of the casual Mexican fan who doesn't really follow boxing in detail.
Well, all I know is that Bradley has played a similar game like this before and look what it got him... a pacquiao fight. Wouldn't be surprised to see all the rumors going around about him to be true.
Great move by Canelo. Wont have a reason to pay $70 to Mayweather anymore. As far as the PPV slot for getting needed exposure, hes already been on Mayweather's last three. What more do you need? I understand he may not be huge right now or at a Pacquiao or Mayweather level but it seems like some people live in a bubble when failing to realize this guys current popularity and future potential.
Mayweather wants no part of the Canelo curse. Trying to get him off the card, out of the mgm, out of the city. No seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo gets his own date in april. Moths ago it was said that was an option. Besides, a Canelo v Trout fight just seems like a bad buisness decision to not have it on its own date. Mayweather will probably eventually phase out gbp in promotional services and they know it. They need to look out for themselves and thier future.
I knew when Stephen A Smith reportedly talked to Floyd and they were talking about a Floyd vs Canelo fight on First Take when SAS said "Canelo is too big for Floyd" that's when it hit me that Floyd is going to wait this boy out until he out grows the division and then use that excuse. He implanted that into the media for a reason.
Same thoughts that went through my head.
what makes you think hes going to make more being a co main event where Mayweather penny and dimes everyone in order to keep most of the pot. Now he Headlines his own event which will most likely be a success and pack the alamodome. He made 2 mil for his last fight so you can only imagine hes going to make more for this one given the significance. Canelo vs Trout as a ppv co main is high risk, low reward given Mayweathers position. Canelo vs Trout on its own is high risk, high reward. He doesnt care what you or I think, hes getting paid and now we dont have to cough up $70 for it. So whats the problem?
U know what's funny about that. Most of them 1.4 million people did. Lol
whether non-hispanic or non-mexican boxing fans want to believe it. I along with lots of casual mexican boxing fans I know have only bought mayweathers ppvs because of the high-profile mexican fighter incentive. Whether it was marquez, or watching Canelo debut on ppv and then follow that up with two more apperances on a Mayweather ppv. Heck I've talked to alot of Mexican fans who are waiting to simply to see if the Canelo vs Trout match is going to get made otherwise they'll go to a bar or simply stream it online.
I think the interpreter said something about Oscar making look like a biatch. That's when he snapped. Wrong interpretation.
Man, theres ways of translating the word quit in spanish but this guy went on and asked him the equivalent of if he were to say did you ***** out and decide to stop the fight? I remember this guy being terrible when it came to translating, now its that guy at showtime.that guy never says what Jim gray or the fighter are saying.
Your right but the fact is there was a reason for making a deal between hbo and espn. They will still get interviews and cover the event but they probably had bigger plans for mayweathers next fight now have to take a back seat to CBS and Showtime.
It just depends on the boxer, some are more dangerous, some are going to get knocked out.
Just watch the last fight with Pacquiao. After he was dropped the first time Marquez knew that he was still very dangerous, maybe even more than before he was knocked down, and that's why Marquez continued to wait for his chance instead of just going for the kill.
this is one of the reasons Marquez is an ATG. Marquez has been hurt by by all levels of competition. Whether it's been pacquiao, Diaz, Barrera, katsidis, and even a smart an elusive Mayweather, he has never relied on clinching when hurt. Even when mayweather knocked him down Maquez was still trying to answer against mayweathers attack. Pac never had the same success against Marquez that he did with all his recent opponents. Unlike all of Pacs opponents who became hesitant or balled up when they were overwhelmed by the volume punching marquez was always punching with him.
Your right. Even before the fight started I knew that left hook would be key. I didn't think Khan would be so stupid as to not be prepared for it or even give Garcia a chance to use it. What does this say about a worn out, and out of shape morales who in two fights with the same guys has come out looking better than Khan. Sure, he didn't win against either but he didn't look like he was survival mode against Maidana, or had he come in shape and not have had the gall bladder surgery a couple of months prior to the fight with Garcia he probably would of looked way better.
On paper and probably in reality this fight goes 9-3 unanimous dec. In mayweathers favor, but for floyd at this point pacquiao still presents too many variables to take that risk and make a fight. Floyd doesn't need to fight pac. His 30+ million guarantee will be there for each of his remaining fights. The only way floyd fights pacquiao is if the best version of pacquiao doesnt have enough to surprise him in the ring, and right now the chances a mentally/physically capable pacquiao showing up on fight night are very possible and good enough to give floyd problems.
Has GGG ever had to fight on the backfoot for long periods of time? Chavez will have to work on smothering GGGs attack and work on his letting his hands go a lot more on the inside. Chavez likes to fight on the inside but unlike his father, Jr tends to hesitate a lot. His chin allows him to willingly take unnecessary shots just to get off a couple of shots. Chavez has to make it a sloppy fight or else GGG will where him out in the last 3rd of the fight.
Canelo pretty much set the tone with that first left hook. I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo actually hurt angulo with those first couple of shots. The fact that angulos expression never really changed made it hard to tell how angulo was actually hanging the shots.
Anyone else think that that first left hook canelo threw actually hurt angulo. He set the tone from the gate and never let angulo get off a shot at 100%. I think he didn't take those shots well in the first round, the fact he had the same facial expression throughout the fight made it hard to tell how he was handling the shots.
Chino learned that shot from personal experience. Watch morales vs maidana rd8. Morales threw 2 jabs to the body then when it looked like third was coming he brought it up to hook him to the head that seriously hurt him.
Mikey vs gamboa
Rios vs provodnikov
Bradley vs pac
Chavez vs froch (these guys will fight each other for more $ rather than fight ward)
Estrada vs Gonzalez (big fight in the lower weight classes)
Kirkland vs GGG
I'll let my Mexican pride get the better of me and for the most part have rooted against pac when he fought mexicans, but I am a pacquiao fan. Heck, I was rooting for him against rios.
Watch the post fight press conference. Rios said it himself by the 2nd half of the fight he knew the game plan wasnt working and if he opened up to look for the knockout he would probably end up getting koed. He just wanted to survive the last rounds unlike margarito who never stopped trying.
