I asked one of my friends who's a casual boxing fan if he's going to watch the Mayweather fight in May. He pretty much said No because now that Pacquiao lost, he isn't interested seeing Mayweather fight.
What do you guys think? Mayweather can't promote his fights anymore by saying, "Pacquiao you're next".
I'm curious to see how many PPV buys it does.
What kind of question is that? Of course Floyds fights are relevant...why wouldn't they be? Remember mostly only asians and casual fans care about what Pac does. Real boxing fans, genuine fans couldn't care less what Manny does. That question alone tells us how sad the state of affairs is in boxing.
Yeah Manny might say yes now , instead of running away from a 50/50 offer in the biggest fight in history , funny how you let Manny of the hook for that isnt it !
That $40 million that Floyd was offering must be looking very good right now

Floyd is so irrelevant you are making threads on him everyday.....:dunce:
Maybe this what would it take for Floyd to finally take the fight. It still has some marketability. Next thing you know Pac beats him

Yeah his fights aren't as relevant perhaps, but it could be worse. He could be Manny "Night Night" Pacquiao.
Relevant to what , everything Floyd does is relevant to boxing he is currently the number one draw in the sport , Floyd was on top before Manny started making noise and is still on top after Manny got blown out , it really depends on how hungry Floyd is , I think he is getting tired of boxing and the fire is dimming but only time will tell whats left , Manny say he woke up one day and found god , Floyd woke up one day and found a jail cell , you never really know what goes through a mans brain in those times in life where they mentally hit the wall .
Pacquiao and Mayweather are both very important boxers whether they fight each other or not. They are still two of the biggest stars in boxing with Mayweather being the biggest. Yes, every fight Floyd has is important and the boxing world will be watching.
Floyd was relevant before Pac or even a pactart was even known to mainstream. Doesn’t make a difference if pac is fighting past prime WW bums, fighters who do not belong at WW or sleeping on the job vs a 39 year old LW. Floyd is Floyd and has been before Manny Pac was even a name to the mainstream.
If anything Pac is irrelevant as everyone has moved on from his hype and looking for the next great hope. As it stands people don't know whether to praise Alvarez or sh*t on him.. as they can't figure out if Floyd is fighting him or not. lol
In the meantime they do as I said they would do, call out Martinez at MW's and state Floyd is ducking them. Next thing you know we will hear that Floyd is ducking Ward at SMW.
The only reason I've bought Mayweathers ppvs is because of the high profile Mexican incentive. His last 4 fights have had a HIGH profile mexican fighter in them. Marquez, then Canelo on the undercard of his last three fights. Yes, Canelo is high profile, maybe not elite but high profile. I appreciate good boxing in all its different styles but that being said, if I'm going to pay up $60 to watch a ppv boxing event I need that Mexican presence involved. Some people like to use that as an argument to explain Mayweather ppv numbers, but I'm just simply giving you guys my reason and the perspective of the casual Mexican fan who doesn't really follow boxing in detail.
Besides an unlikely fight with Sergio Martinez and possible Canelo fight, no other fight really intrigues me and anyone coming up from 140 at some point would be fighting an older Mayweather to where if he does lose some how it'll almost come as expected.
With multiple threads on multiple sites about when he is going to announce next fight i would say yeah they are still relevant. Even that rumor of how he might buy a 3mil commercial during superbowl, which i knew was crap but put themasses in a frenzy, got to my brother who does not watch this sport at all.
Not sure. Lets be honest, Mayweather fights aren't the most exciting fights available. His PPV sales come from the fact hes at the top of the sport, and many celebs etc go to his fights as they want to be seen going to see the best boxer out there.
But the majority probably comes from the fact people want to see him lose. Most of his career has been like that. It's pretty smart, he can be as boring as he likes and still get paid. But on the other hand, outside of the sport people sneer at you. I guess that route doesn't suit everyone, but if it works for him, why not.
As to whether or not Pacquiao's fall will affect him? Probably, but not by much - no noticable amount. The fall of Pacquiao is going to bring about some paydays for other fighters though, HBO want someone to bill as "The Guy to beat Mayweather" - again linked very much to what I said above, about people wanting to see him lose.
If Mayweather lost his next fight he wouldn't do big numbers again.
People pay to see Mayweather lose. People pay to see Pacquaio fight. There's the difference.
Not when it comes to money. Money is money, like one of the best Presidents of all time said... Arithmetic.
1 Million PPV buys from fans at 59.99
Is not different from
1 Million PPV buys from haters and fans combined at 59.99
In otherwords, 1+1 still equals 2. And that's all HBO, Mayweather, Goldenboy care about.

Considering that ts is called "imatroll" but was so obviously asspained that the entire world laughed at Plankiao KTFO on the canvas, I think we've all known where his allegiances lie for a few years already before December 8th though tbh :lol1:
meaning they now realize pac man dont and didnt have a shot at beating mayweather? not sure y people think that mayweathers numbers come because of manny wouldn't manny have better ppv numbers if that was the case?
I think the only time Floyds PPV buys dip under million buys is when he finally loses, the hype around his fights is the undefeated streak, some people can't wait to see the moment he finally slips.
You have people who pay to see him win, and people who pay to see him lose.
