Did anyone notice that Manny had a strange-looking pair of gloves against Shane Mosley? The obvious difference is that they're yellow in color instead of his typical red gloves, but the shape of the glove was much different.
The edges of the impact area were squared-off rather than completely smooth, like a typical Reyes glove. They didn't look at all like Safetec gloves, either. Did anyone notice this? Is the Cleto Reyes glove factory making custom-padded gloves for Manny or something?
You know, I noticed that too. And I own a pair of Cleto Reyes 10oz Pro Fight Gloves, red to be exact. And Manny’s gloves versus Mosley were definitely 12oz training gloves. I believe this was agreed upon to protect Shane Mosley. Getting hit with Manny’s red 8oz horse hair gloves would’ve ruined Mosley. Notice how they kept touch gloves before & after every round. This fight was a glorified sparring session. I’d bet Mosley was also wearing Grant 12oz training gloves. The end goal of this fight was to make money, and not to hurt each other. That said, PAC still knocked Mosley down with his big yellow puffy gloves. For anyone whose never boxed, training gloves have more padding than pro fight gloves. The padding is there to protect your hands and your opponent.

barking at the wrong tree? why not ask the glove manufacturer?

That's color theory 101, and you're correct. But that has little to do with what I'm pointing out here.
The shape of the gloves are entirely different from other Cleto Reyes gloves. If you take a look at past fights where Pacquiao is wearing his usual red gloves, the sides are rounded and smooth, whereas these yellow gloves have a hard edge and flat punching surface. The shape is different and it's plain to see. It's just unusual, which is why this is being pointed out in the first place.
Light colors always look bigger.
Black or dark colors always look smaller.
this is actually true. this is because dark colors such as black have border fringing with shadows so that they blend in to the background more and from a distance make it look like they are smaller because your eyes are only registering the more highlighted portions of the gloves whereas light colored gloves are brighter and easier to see all their dimensions/borders/proportions etc
I noticed this too. Watch the Juanma Lopez vs Salido fight and you'll notice that the Cleto reyes gloves they used are also more square than the usual Reyes glove. Maybe now they offer different styles of gloves like Everlast does. These look more like a Grant gloves, but Ive also seen the safetec gloves and the original pro fight gloves.

kidding about taking it myself but LOL to the flomos ://
Yup, these gloves are like the Grants.
They look the same shape of the Grants. Could be Grants with they Reyes label but I don't think Reyes endorse anyone. Pac's gloves look like 10oz gloves.
BASED one what mosley said, i wouldnt dont theres something going on with pacs gloves
What exactly are you implying retard? If Mannys gloves were bigger than his usual 8oz the advantage goes to Mosley. ****in idiot.
I noticed they did look bigger, or thicker. But Mannys not gonna wear anything more than 8oz, and those were definitely reyes'
They mightve wrapped his hands a bit more than usual

Yes I actually did notice it, and wanted to mention it but the fight was so one sided, Pac could have worn air bags as gloves and still dominate Mosley that night.
Gloves really dont mean that much,a guy with hand problems usually goes everlast,a guy who does not goes reyes, either way they are 8-10 ounce gloves.
besides the fact that winnings is like getting hit with pillows and cletos is like getting hit with a brick? :lol1:
reviewing the pic. They look like gloves that haven't been broken in. So they just bent them a bit and slapped them on without deforming the foam in the glove.
Didn't really notice. I was too busy watching mosley run for dear life. That was the worst excuse of a "fight" I've seen in a long time. Im with mosleys girl
I noticed this too. They were definite different...they looked larger too.
I'm not one to blame gloves on wins/losses but they are part of the tactics brought to the negotiating table. A recent example was Maidana wearing Winning gloves Vs Morales.
And the thread starter was not implying anything illegal was going on. I agree they didn't look like Reyes save for the labeling.
