Hopkins wants to fight Joe. Taylor wouldn't mind fighting Joe. Winky wouldn't mind neither. BUT Joe wants everyone to go to his backyard. Atleast Ricky was smart enough to know he had to come to the U.S to show the world what he can do against the number 1 P4P in the world. Joe seems like he doesn't want to prove anything to the world only the U.K. The people in U.K are blinded by him! they seriosly no nothing of boxing if they think he's the best. I WILL SHUT THE FUCK UP!! When he decides to fight over here. TO BAD I DONT THINK THATS GONNA HAPPEN.
I'm from the UK and I do not for a minute think Calzaghe is the best. He's missed too many big fight opportunities to be called that. Don't put us all in the same bracket. Just shows naivety.
he is an impressive 40 years old, but Taylor barely gettin two wins (a gift and a win according to many) from him are not a claim to him beating any prime undisputed MW champions fomr the past.
I already made a list of those with which he could deal with, and that's very much not la creme of middleweight history.
Would you pick Taylor to beat any of the following
Hopkins (prime)
Toney
Nunn
Hagler
Monzon
Tiger
?
Would you pick Taylor to beat the following beltholders-contenders from the not-so-distant past:
Jones Jr.
McCallum
Hearns
Benn
Eubank
McClellan
?
Nope, but I think he'd beat Frank Tate and Micheal Olajide...well they held belts at middleweight.:)
i wonder if he did get payed off, we will never know, castillo seemed to know the shot was coming though and didnt do anything, he watched the punch from the moment it swang to the moment in connected, he seemed to brace himself for it and open himself up for it
i dont want too think like that, but just something i noticed
WTF are you on?
There are some really stupid people on this board but to suggest Pac has a chance at 140 vs Hatton is really taking the biscuit. Sit back and think before you post....anyone who thinks Pac has a chance is an idiot and his opinion's on the sport should be totally disgarded.
I know the rules. Ive been watching boxing forever. I know the rules and I know why they do it. Im just saying that I dont agree with that one rule. I think in this one case then it would make more sense to give it to that one judge. I dont think its the same as looking at it like the other one you compared it to. I know thats how they do it and its why they do it but I dont think it should be like that in that case
Scenario........Judges A and B score the fight a draw....it was a difficult fight to score...very even and the majority of fans agree that a draw is a sound and proper result. However, Judge C gives it 118-110 to fighter x so fighter x gets the verdict. Do you really think that is fair?
shouldn't he of got 20 secs tho for falling out of the ring?
Thats what I've always thought....
Anyway, it was a magnificent fight. Shame about how McClellan ended up but that's life. It's a hard sport.
Is that why he has been in the 3 most profitable ppv's of the last 4 years?
That has been down to his opponent.
Fact is the arena isn't big enough to accommodate the amount of fans who would willingly fly over from Britain to see the fight.
Hatton fights for his fans? eh come on ... he's a nice guy and all, and definetly wouldn't turn his home people against him. (like some american fighters) but over in Britian its more a national issue than it is here
and common sense, of course the UK would have more fan support for Hatton than the average American boxer (hint boxing is pretty low on the totem poll in the USA behind baseball, basketball, and football)
"Fact is the arena isn't big enough to accommodate the amount of fans who would willingly fly over from Britain to see the fight."
so what the fuck do you want Vegas to do? build a stadium that seats 50 thousand and call it the Ricky Hatton Dome?
or is that not enough people? (50,000) seriously .. its human nature to complain. what if they did get a stadium that seated 40,000 would that make you satisfied?
why should Vegas bend over backwards to accomadate Hatton. MGM was good enough for Tyson, Holyfield, De LA Hoya etc
contrary take this example ... not the sport but the same idea.
Boston Red Sox fans have to drive and sometimes travel all across the USA just to see their team play they go to Anaheim, Montreal, Baltimore hell even Texas.
and you'd think "well can't the fans in Boston just buy tickets to home games" .. no because thanks to season ticket holders ... tickets to home games will probably be sold out for the next 5-6 years or so.
lets say Hatton and his team did get a hold of and were able to reserve 10,000 seats for Brits only how would you feel if you were the 5,0000th person in line, and got turned away, because the only seats left were reserved?
I was stating a fact, I wasn't asking for a solution.
Admit though that it's a damn shame these huge money making casino's don't have larger arenas.
The arena is too small.
Hatton is pissed off because this is his biggest fight and the fans that have followed him throughout his career will not be able to watch him ringside for it. He feels sorry for those fans. Thats all there is to it.
i guess you cannot say exposed when a former 130 fights one of the best at 154
Well they both won their first world titles at Junior Lightweight. De La Hoya has always been the bigger man naturally but it's not as if Floyd is moving up the weights to challenge a Mike McCallum type Junior Middleweight. In fact, I'd be surprised if Floyd wasn't a clear favourite come fight night.
As for being 'exposed'...for me, Floyd has proven his class (in the ring) so if he loses to De La Hoya, I certainly wouldn't put it down to him being exposed. Floyd nuthuggers genuinely believe he is the greatest of all times but the logical among us know this not to be the case. So, from a logical standpoint, Floyd losing might be a surprise but it isn't shocking and it certainly doesn't constitute being exposed...
For the record I believe this will be a close fight whoever wins. Right now I lean towards De La Hoya but my opinion on the outcome has changed several times already, and no doubt it will change again. It's one of those fights where I really can't be decisive in picking my winner. A 50/50 fight. Love it!
You've got a pic of Marvin Hagler and Tommy Hearns up there. Those guys are great. Tyson....looked like he was going to be great but never fulfilled it.
Prime Lewis knocks both Wlad and Vit out. I could see him destroying Wlad inside 4 rounds. Vitali would be tougher but IMO he wouldn't last the distance.
vitali left. its like leaving a long ass line at the dmv for 2 years and expecting for sum1 to give you yer spot back.
Exactly...Vitali walked away from the sport and he never won the title PROPER in the ring anyway. Fuck him! Peter should fight and beat Maskaev and if Vitali earns a shot at the title, he should defend against him.
