But in order to watch boxing.. you have to have a certain level of faith, and rightfullly so in the judges making a DECENT decision most of the time. So, would a ref get it wrong sometimes? Yes. Fact is, majority should always be the way to go. What if some ref was just stupid and in the same Whitaker and Chavez fight.. Two judges had it a draw and he had it for Chavez.. Either way, that fight should be a draw.
It's kind of like this.. If you ask three of your friends about a movie, and they give you mixed reviews, but one of your friends says it's GREAT.. I hope you're not the type to just go with him. If that happens to me, I say.. "I heard the movie is decent, and some people realy liked it.. but.. mostly decent"
Scenario........Judges A and B score the fight a draw....it was a difficult fight to score...very even and the majority of fans agree that a draw is a sound and proper result. However, Judge C gives it 118-110 to fighter x so fighter x gets the verdict. Do you really think that is fair?
What if its the other way around like in the JCC-Sweet Pea fight? The 2 guys had it a draw while the other guy had Pea winning and everyone thought Pea easily won the fight.
I just think it looks weird win somone has you winning the fight and no one has the other guy winning the fight but you still dont get the win. Thats all Im saying. Its just strange. I could see if there were 5 judges and it was like 4 draws to 1 win but not in this case. What if there were 5 judges and it was 3 draws and 2 guys had it a win for the same fighter? Should it then still be a draw? It just doesnt look right
I know the rules. Ive been watching boxing forever. I know the rules and I know why they do it. Im just saying that I dont agree with that one rule. I think in this one case then it would make more sense to give it to that one judge. I dont think its the same as looking at it like the other one you compared it to. I know thats how they do it and its why they do it but I dont think it should be like that in that case

If you could count on all judges then i'd agree.
But at the lower end of the sport, like the ESPN events, judges are probably easily coaxed into leaning one way or the other u know?
I think its safe and fair either way, but the way it is now is just a bit safer.
Plus, in that situation, ud only have to pay off one judge and a get away with it you know/ even if it is a long shot that 2 judges score it a draw
true but in most cases I think the crooks would be the other 2 judges. Like the Sweet Pea-JCC fight. 2 of them had it a draw.
But it's not that they can't decide.. They just think it's even. Menaing the majority of them thought that the fight wasn't won by anyone. Majority should win.

What do you guys think about that anyway? Ive always meant to make a thread about it but I always forget. Do you guys think that should be considered a draw or a win? Ive always felt that it should still be a win. I think its stupid to have it a draw, like the 3rd guy doesnt even count

No its not. Its still different in reality. The 2nd way you menitoned its obvious that it should be a win for the one guy but on the 1st way I think if 3 people score a fight then everyone should count equaly and if 2 guys cant decide on who won then the 3rd guy should. I think it just looks stupid if there is a super fight where one judge has you the winner but the other 2 have it a draw and they call it a draw. The public will still feel like that guy won

He counts, but the other two have it adraw.. So.. majority wins.. That'd be like if two guys had it 115-113 for the same person, but the third judge has it a draw.. that you'd go for the draw. Makes no sense.
