I know u give 10 percent to ur trainer. Then u have to pay for training expenses, management, ur team etc so if u get a 10 mil payday u will end up with around 6-7 mill urself if ur lucky
*Let me preface this by noting, in an attempt to pre-empt red herrings, that I'm addressing how the location of Ward-Froch impacted their bout, not the more general issue of whether it's fair or unfair that Andre Ward has fought only in the US, while other top boxers had to come to the US to fight him.
I think it's reductive to claim that fighting in one's country is significantly advantageous to the home-country fighter in bouts against foreign boxers. The interaction between cultural factors and bout specifics, such as where in the country the bout is occurring and who is fighting, is too varied to make such a blanket statement.
Boxing support in the U.S. tends to be localized (e.g. Philly fans supporting Philly fighters) or linked to ethnicity in certain cases (e.g. boxers of Mexican descent tend to be supported my Mexican fans regardless of where in the U.S. or whether they are American or fighting an American). It doesn't seem to be true, however, that nationality usually leads to broad American support for American boxers in contests against foreigners. I thought this was evident in Ward's bout against Froch, as there was hardly great support for the former in an absolute or relative sense; it may even be that Froch had more support at the fight than Ward did.
There are other advantages commonly gained by being the hometown fighter, but I'm not sure if those were relevant to the Ward-Froch outcome. Ward didn't benefit from unfair officiating, as the referee didn't interact with the fighters such that it benefitted Ward, and two of the judges' scores were harsh to Ward. If Ward did have hometown advantages, they were probably small and stemmed from Froch having to travel a greater distance to reach Atlantic City, and presumably having to make larger adjustments. However, Froch already had big-fight experience in the US and more specifically Atlantic City (unlike Ward) which likely helped him adjust more readily to the different environment and time-zone.
So, Ward didn't have hometown support, hometown officiating, or hometown experience in his favor. So why do some people think that to give us a better idea of how they truly compare, Ward needs to rematch Froch in England, where Froch would probably have prolific and vociferous support that Ward didn't have in Atlantic City, and where Ward would face a level of hostility that Froch didn't face in Atlantic City?
Andre ward beat froch pretty easily and froch is just looking for an excuse and I'm from England.
I love the sport but think it's clearly disorganized and messed up. Between the fighters, promoters, networks, useless belts, transparent weight classes, doping agencies, etc more and more factors come into play from preventing fights.
To make matters worse, us, the fans instead of doing something about it seem to cheerlead for whatever fighter, promoter, etc instead of doing anything about it. I understand people don't give a **** to take action but then why complain or point fingers?
So for the intelligent ones on the site, how would you reform boxing? In a perfect world that is. We all know too much money and corruption is behind the sport but if we could change it..
I'll start..and i'm not saying my solution is the best one by any means..
-One Boxing League or Association, one ranking system as it is in Tennis or Golf. (I don't follow either, but obviously it works) (Prevents Cherrypicking)
-Obviously divided between the weight classes
-One doping agency
-Cities and networks bid to host fights
-Events have multiple class headliners
-Promoters, trainers, fighters, etc have their own teams as in MMA or Racing. For example Team Top Rank, Money Team, Team Roach, Team Redbull whatever the case is. Obviously fighters within teams still fight each other.
-You have to be affiliated with a Team to fight
-Restrictions on moving up or down in weight classes. (Prevent cherry picking)
Just curious as to what your ideas are..
I would eliminate all the fans who call every fighter who holds a world champion a ducker. They can't fight every ducking fighter. I would also get rid of all the fans who call fighters runners. Them idiots don't know **** about boxing
Does anybody know the fight night weights for Gatti and Baldomir when they fought Floyd? How much did they gain from the weigh-in?
What does that say about Golovkin as a future opponent for Floyd?
Thanks.
Carlos baldomir weighed in at 162 fight night for floyd
According to max fisher the black guy whos apparently an expert on boxing said he witnessed the sparring between GGG and Canelo and he said GGG got the better of him and hit him with a tremendous body shot that hurt Canelo. There's a interview on YouTube somewhere about it
Someone like Brandon Rios. I think Matthysse would win that fight, but i'd like to see what Matthysse would do if a fighter isn't hurt by his punch.
If Garcia and matthysse fought then i believe matthysse won't be able to knock garcia out and that Garcia will win cause he's got a great chin and a huge neck which Is always helpful. And I'm a neutral fan between them both so I'm not biased.
So I wake up in the morning today and finally watch Broner vs Malignaggi and don't know the result yet so I score the rounds. And guess what, Broner won this fight so clearly it's unreal. And then Paulie says as always that he got robbbed in the postfight interview (I almost fall off the stool when he says that), then I come on boxingscene and see the poll which says most people felt Paulie won this fight. And this is where it gets totally unreal.
Here is my scorecard:
Round 1: Malignaggi (CLOSE!!)
Round 2: Malignaggi (CLOSE!!)
Round 3: Broner
Round 4: Malignaggi
Round 5: Broner
Round 6: Draw
Round 7: Broner
Round 8: Broner
Round 9: Broner
Round 10: Broner
Round 11: Broner
Round 12: Broner
_______________________________________________
Total Score: 117:112 Broner
How can ANYONE say with a straight face that Malignaggi won this fight?? I was the first one to say Malignaggi got robbed against Juan Diaz in their first fight. But this time? Are you kidding me? Broner was landing all the clean, hard shots from the 4th round on and outclassed Malignaggi.
And this is coming from a guy who likes Paulie and hates Broner. Do you guys know how I would have liked it if Broner would have lost the fight or even get knocked out? I HATE Broner.
And still: Broner totally CLEARLY won this fight. Nothing close AT ALL after the 4th round.
Why do you guys see what you see? Is it the fact that Paulie showboats while Broner lands clean, hard shots all night long?? This is just SHOWBOATING. He is still losing big and he knows it.
You got it near enough spot on mate
If I was you I would stop fighting for a few months and just train your ass of and improve your technique because from what I've seen it needs major improvement hope this helps
Dulorme was an HBO fighter a few fights back. And this low of a purse is something that you would expect for a low level pro not a ranked fighter.
Who is his promoter?
The legendary Roy jones jr
I'm not even that much of a Victor Ortiz fan but it clearly shows most of you lot have never stepped into the ring before calling fighters quiters even though you've never even properly sparred before . You never know ortiz's head could have been spinning and he might not have known where he was when he was in the ring cos it was a great shot that collazo hit him with or he might have decided to quit we don know so just stfu once in a while and show boxers respect cos they re the ones putting their lives on the line for your entertainment. Boxing has some of the most stupidest fans ever.
Ever since Errol Spence got the better of Mayweather in sparring, he disallowed cameras during sparring.
This is the last known recorded sparring session.
You clearly don't know anything. He stopped people taping him spar after he sparred Paul Spadafora and the tapes of him sparring Omar Henry RIP were probably leaked.
I think that this would have been a really good fight because of Johnson's incredible chin and power but I think Wards best asset is that he neglects fighters strengths which I believe he would have done to Johnson UD for ward 11 rounds to 1
Roy jones jr did get a lot of crap by the press for not fighting guys who were not at the elite level but he beat the 2 guys who were elite hopkins and toney. In his prime he beat everyone who he faced decisively and the people he did not face he would have beat anyway in my opinion.
Man as much as I enjoy and love boxing for big fights I get so nervous and tence it's kinda like a double Edge sword because at the time or at least first 5 rds I can't even enjoy it because I'm so shook, anyone else experience this?
Man it's weird to me because when I watch fights I start shaking and I stutter my words but when I'm fighting I'm as calm as Ghandi. It's weird man
You gotta know what your watching even as a groupie
This was great man most fans don't respect the science bit of the sport and just look for the knockout in each fight the game plan Virgil set was genius and andre perfected it. Keep doing what ya doing man I appreciate it a lot.
It's absolutely ridiculous. All these so called boxing experts don't understand boxing. They think that if you make your opponents miss and don't brawl then your running. It makes me sick to know that the so called experts don't even know what feints and pivots are. ****ing dumbasses.
