Second point: pound for pound mean exactly pound for pound. A pound of mine vs a pound of yours. Not 260 pounds of mine vs 240 pounds of yours.
A pound of mine for a pound of yours means a particular weight class. What P4P really means is if there were no weight classes and you only have to look at the fighter's skills and dominance without weight being a factor.
Klitschko has all the skill and dominance to be considered P4P. Its not just the size, cause he fought plenty of big men, its how you use it. Lennox Lewis was big with a huge reach and he was #4 on most of the P4P list for a long time.
i dont think he is ever gonna get p4p consideration, being the unified heavyweight champ trumps p4p recognition any day of the week anyhow
he is definately the most dominant fighter within his division in all of boxing. and yes that is partly cause the other guys arent as tough as say Cotto, Margo, Williams at welter.....
consider wlad is a -700 favorite against a guy considered the 2nd ir 3rd best in his division..... thats not going to happen in any other division in boxing.
That is an absolutely excellent point! Who can name anyone in any other division that dominates so much? (aside from Floyd)
The fight maybe would have been competitive if Sultan had the same size that Klitschko has but since Sultan is a small heavyweight, he simply wont be able to compete against the height and reach of Klitschko. He will never get past Klitschko's jab. Sultan is a guy that had problems with Ray Austin due to his size, imagine what kind of problems he will have with Klitschko?
Kellerman is one of the best boxing analysts today! The explanation here is that many times smart people say things that the not so smart people misinterpret.
I am a fan of boxing not a fan of boxing reporters, I really didnt know until I looked up Kellermans bio out of curiosity.
The people who are reporting boxing are a big part of boxing. Your statement is foolish and ignorant.
Bottom line is that Sultan had problems with Austin's reach even though Austin is not so good at using his reach advantage. Wlad on the other hand knows how to use it very well and will keep the jab in Sultan's face the whole fight until he hits him with a right hand that Sultan will never see just like Brock.
If Taylor wins, he deserves all the respect in the world because its mentally very hard to come back so soon against an opponent that ripped your soul out of you in your very last fight.
Are you people joking about not knowing Kellerman or the story of his brother getting killed? How can you be a real boxing fan and not know that story?
David Reid is someone that I think was over hyped from the beggining. Im not sure just how much potential he ever had. I meant to say Gomez in his prime while Azumah was on his way. I agree with you about Toney but the only reason I did not put him in there was because I feel that he really DID accomplish a lot even though he could have done more. The guys that I listed, for different reasons, never got the chance to live up to their full potential. Toney on the other hand, had plenty of chances.
Im so annoyed of this guy. Hopkins is one of the most boring fighters ever and I hope he gets decisively beaten by Calzage which Im pretty sure will happen. Hopefully that will send him into retirement so I dont have to watch more snoozefests on PPV.
Berto Gets Hit Too Clean!
Did anyone else notice that when another fighter wants to hit Berto, its usually not a problem? His last few fights, Berto is fighting guys that are just turtling and not offering up much of an offense. His first real test will be against anyone who is a puncher. Then we will se what he's really made of.
I think the biggest wasted talent that I have seen in my life time was Meldri Taylor. I think he was faster than Floyd with a harder punch. Had amazing ring generalship and great stamina. Its amazing how one fight ruined everything for him. Im sure most of you guys know what fight that was...
I got to say that I really believe there was something wrong with Williams. I am not trying to make excuses for him but he just did not seem like himself at all! He was all discombobulated and off balance throwing weird punches that had nothing on them. He just seemed way off and didnt even seem too upset after his loss. I think there was something wrong with him coming in and it seemed that he didnt want to make any excuses after.
This is so lame!!!!
This thread says more about how bad American heavyweights are more than anything that has to do with Arreola. Some people want an American heavyweight champ so bad, they actually force themselves to believe Arreola has a chance against a top heavyweight, let alone the champ.
Arreola has only 25 fights and he already is coming in out of shape for a fight and this is way before he even gets a shot at the title. Thats a disgrace to the sport and makes him completely and positively undeserving of even a shot at Klitschko or any top ten heavyweight for that matter.
The heavyweight devision may not be at its all time best but Arreola is still not even close to being a top ten.
