Riddick Bowe wasted talent

Then how do you figure the fact that Bowe was in his old championship form again in the second Golota fight, same weight etc, yet he was utterly dominated? And this was before he even turned 30. Either Bowe was completely washed up in those fights, or Golota was a superior fighter to Bowe. You gotta make a pick then. A guy with his size shouldn't be done before 30. That's when swarmers go out, not the tall big guys with a long jab. Bowe didn't have defence, slugged a lot when it wasn't to his best advantage(career-wise, in the long run). Tyson, Mercer and Holyfield were powerful punchers that could slug for a long time, and I reckon taking clean big punches from Lewis or even Moorer wouldn't be healthy either. I understand that him abusing his body was a big factor in his decline as well, but you can't tell me that in a diffirent scenario with Bowe still going to war with murderous punchers that he'd be more dominant for a long time. Bowe was at his fighting weight but the damage had been done it does'nt matter if Bowe had come in at 215 lbs his reflexes were shot & he had sustained a degree of brain damdge by then if Bowe was'nt completely washed up then explain then why he was slurring his words like some drunk off the street in the post fight interview , watch Roy v Tarver 1 +2 , u can see Roy is competitve & has lost none of his speed yet there is something missing that the naked eye cannot recognise some ingredient that made them superior has suddenly erroded & fighter who would'nt have been competitive before is now able to not only compete but dominate watch Bowe v Hide ,Holyfield 3 u can see Bowe was ready for the scrap yard then he looked awfull in both fights he was hurt by Hide & put down by Holfield & lets not forget Holyfield was in the same fights as Bowe so how come Bowe sustained more damage to his Brain than Evander ,IMO its because Evander was in control of his weight Bowe was'nt ,the way u manage your weight can be a big factor in the kind of punishment your brain takes that why Gerald McClellan & Paul Ingle sustained their injuries IMO u cannot keep punishing your body to make weight eventually dieting or starving yourself to make weight & lack of Nutrients your body needs is only gonna errode your bodly fuctions your brain & your body if Bowe had been more dedicated outside the ring he would have had longevity in it ,lifestyle is a huge factor in Longevity a Tyson fan should realise of all people i give Evander full props for beating Mike but Tyson was'nt the same fighter he was pre Jail ,take a look at the whipping Mike Took at the hands of Buster Douglas either Mike was Completely washed up or Douglas was a superior fighter to Mike Take your pick ,u see it works both ways IMO Tyson would have whipped the floor Douglas as Bowe would have done with Golota ,although both Golota & Douglas were underachievers & possibly underated fighters

norris's chin wasn't his only weakness. you also left out norris being a complete hothead. he was dq'd against walker for hitting him when he was down, and santana twice for a rabbit punch and a blatant shot when he stepped AROUND Kenny Bayless to hit Santana, after the bell. Santana was probably acting, but Norris was too damn hot-headed anyway. Him getting stopped or dropped was also a consequence of his lack of discipline when it came to boxing and not getting into warfare. He also blatantly hit Leonard when he was down, and Waters (behind the head). :gives: Santana was acting the right hand Norris hit him with had nothing on it yet that Fucka was down for about 15 minutes play acting, he should have got an Oscar for his dying swan act the fucking :asshole: Norris did show lack of discipline but that is what made him so exciting his fights were up & downers he would stand toe to toe even though he possesed the better Boxing ability ,Norris was 'nt disciplined otherwise he would have Boxed more instead of gunslinging but like i said that is why he was so exciting to watch tremendous Skill & a big Heart ,very quick & a good combination puncher thats why i like Fighter like Riddick Bowe & Terry Norris cause allthough they possesed great Boxing ability they would also put it on the line aswell ,it might not have been the most sensible thing to do all the while but there fights were damn entertaining

I think the biggest wasted talent that I have seen in my life time was Meldri Taylor. I think he was faster than Floyd with a harder punch. Had amazing ring generalship and great stamina. Its amazing how one fight ruined everything for him. Im sure most of you guys know what fight that was... that fight didn't ruin everything for him. that's revisionist history made more popular by hbo documentaries. it is true that taylor wasn't the same after chavez, but he was still a good formidable fighter afterwards. he moved up in weight and beat an undefeated champ in aaron davis for a world title. it was too much accumulated punishment, both in fights and in the gym, and questionable management decisions, led to him being worn out at such a young age. duva and team shouldn't have put him in there with norris @ 154 lbs. taylor was too brawl happy for his own good, but at least he used his talent to do some very good things so i can't see how he's the biggest waste of talent. he won 2 world titles in 2 weight classes, handily beat an excellent fighter in mcgirt, gave an atg in chavez all he could handle. talented guys like ibeabuchi and ayala never made it past the contender level. ricardo williams never made it past the prospect level.

I definatley agree. Norris was the better pure boxer but Taylor clearly had the better handspeed in my opinion. Norris was actually one of the best pure boxers i have ever watched. Bowe's prime ended way before the 1st Golota fight ,u could see he was'nt the same fighter against Holyfield in the 3 rd fight ,If Herbie Hide had a chin he could have beaten Bowe ,Bowe was being outboxed for most of that fight & looked awfull & he was'nt slipping anything either ,Bowe won the fight cause he was bigger & stronger than Hide anybody who knows anything about Bowe should know he was on the slide by the time he fought Holyfield for the 3rd time ,a prime Bowe would have whipped Golota badly ,Bowe Eating habbits erroaded his skills Riddick Bowe = Golota's Bitch :D
