lineal means he beat the man, that beat the man, that beat the man on down the line. I don't feel like tracing it completely down for you I figured you already knew what this meant. Fact remains that Floyd beat the lineal champion hence he himself became the lineal WW champion. Again, this doesn't mean that it was the toughest fight out there, but when your coming for belts and $ that was the fight that made the most sense. Whether or not you want to accept it, Carlos Baldomir was the champion and #1 in the division whenever Floyd fought him.
good read thanks! say what you want about floyd fighting Baldo. Baldo WAS THE LINEAL CHAMPION! what that means kids, is that Baldo was the "man" in that division. Simple really. While he might not have been the toughest opponent in the division, I repeat HE WAS THE LINEAL CHAMPION! If you can't understand what this means then you shouldn't be on a boxing forum. Thanks for playing.
no pbf is fighting mannys left overs u no jmm ONLY PAC DID IT AT HIS NATURAL WEIGHT FLOYDS DOING IT 2 WEIGHTS ABOVE JMM NATURAL WEIGHT
Oh I must have been mistaken. Last I seen it was Pac trying to follow in Floyd's footsteps of moving up into weight because as you know, PBF and Pac are the same size!! The only difference is PBF chose to do it earlier in his career.
Let me flip this on you. It is fair for JMM (top 5 P4P fighter) to be fighting PBF after PBF has been on year and a half lay off? This works both ways.
Why is there so much debate about FMJ fighting JMM? THEY ARE THE SAME SIZE! Juan started out at 126, PBF started out at 130. Fact is JMM accepted the fight, and PBF has been out of the ring for more than a year. JMM is considered a top 5 P4P fighter, and people are calling this a "tune up" for PBF? I mean this is getting ridiculous. This is going to be a good fight, regardless of how blind some of you are.
This guy said it best
Here's what people don't consider when talking about this issue. Floyd has always fought at or around his natural weight. He walks around at about 150-155 max. He could weigh in at 147 and on fight night won't move more than a pound because it's his natural weight and is in great shape. Marquez is roughly about the same size minus maybe an inch. the difference is that Marquez is like many other fighters who drain and dehydrate to make the weigh in while Floyd could have done the same and fought at 130 much longer and be now 135-140 but he would rather not do that and has enough skills to compete against some of the bigger guys within reason. They are roughly the same size naturally and I'd bet money that Marquez walks around heavier than Floyd just as Hatton did but he cuts to compete in lower divisions. Thats the difference in size between them. Pavlik has a completely different sized body and is WAY bigger so Mayweather would never fight him but people shouldn't make such a big issue about a size difference here. Of course it would be nice for him to fight Mosley but people are saying that Pacquiao is #1 and Mayweather wants to stop that talk. Thats what this fight with Marquez is about. Even though Marquez is better than a tune up it's a fight that he better be prepared for and is to get him ready for Pacquiao
Accept this fight is happening, and quit down playing PBF. This is a fair fight, PERIOD!
And who's that average looking slut with fake boobs in your avatar?:D
lmao ridiculous. you know how I know your gay? on the subject at hand. Prime Tyson, Holy, and Ali would beat both of the Klits handily. This is nut hugging at its finest. Wlad's chin would crack as soon as Tyson stared him down. In fact, Wlad might not even make it to the ring. Ali would UD Vitali and TKO Wlad. and Holy would outwork both of them to a clear UD.
this is gonna be a good, competitive fight.
idk know why people give floyd gripe for fighting marquez who in fact is a great champion and he called him out. the guy is coming off a 20 month lay off as well and their meeting at a catchweight.
but its ok for pac and cotto to mix it up and there be no problems with it. double standards..
anyways this should be a good fight between 2 technical masters
I have been saying this for weeks. It is ridiculous. I expect a good fight. marquez is no push over. Floyd comes back after 20 months and fights the #2 p4p fighter and people are hating on him for it. Its just that-hate.
James Toney immediately comes to mind. This guy loves to fight. when I think of fighters that were born to fight.. James Toney is the first person I think of.

that is a pretty bad cut over tyson eye. hell all holyfield had to due was work that eye for a round or two and the fight is stopped on cuts. i bet mike felt a sense of urgency and obvious rage from getting headbutted.
good read man thanks. Frazier is truly a warrior. I have to disagree that he would beat Tyson though. Though they were similar fighters, Mike had many more advantages over Frazier (quicker, dynamite in BOTH hands, better footwork etc.) I just can't play this fight out in my head with Frazier winning. With that said, Frazier is one of my favorite fighters and you truly are blessed to have spoken to him. I envy you!
Go mow some lawns and pay for the ****ing fight and support boxing
don't get me wrong, I would love to buy it. I just can't find enough people willing to throw in on it. It would be ridiculous for me to pay ALL of the money. None of my friends really follow boxing like I do.
one of the best resumes today. He truly is a great fighter. I can't see how anyone can debate a resume that looks like that. If you do, please bring up another CURRENT fighter's resume to compare it with.
Not even that, you do know that Floyd has come in 3lbs over (Fight Night) every division he has faught at except 147.
didn't floyd weigh right at 147 on fight night, when he fought hatton ? In contrast, hatton weighed something like 155+. But floyd is always picking on smaller guys right....
It will likely be at 154 :D
hah funny you mention that in the Roach Floyd Sr. interview , Roach said that pac walks around at 155. At least Floyds "unofficial" weight is always close to what his official weight is.
wow! what has Vitali done that would warrant him beating a prime tyson? was it the win over larry donald or the win over danny williams? I keep forgetting. What a dumb question. Tyson KO within 6.
For example being a world champion, having a higher KO ratio than Tyson, having beaten the man convincingly who beat Tyson (Danny Williams), being a heavy athletic opponent.
What exactly has Buster Douglas done that would warrant him beating a prime tyson?
responds a guy who thinks Ali is overrated. Get off of this website with this bull! You obviously have no credibility. Vitali would not be able to handle the speed and lateral movement of a prime tyson. So what if Douglas beat Tyson in 90'. The Douglas that fought Tyson that night would have skull drug Vitali. Face it, Vitali is not an all time great and never will be. Period. Carry on!
What excactly has Tyson done that warrents him beating Vitali?
It is a damn travesty people would even mention these two in the same sentence. Tyson=ATG heavyweight. Vitali is a shadow of this brother. Wlad is a much better fighter than Vitali and there is no doubt in my mind that Prime Tyson would tear Wlad's head off. So what exactly do you think he would do to Vitali? Sorry if I sound extremely biased right now, I just can't fathom seeing Vitali beating a prime Tyson. Vitali just isn't that good of a fighter and I like Vitali.
So his opponent on September is a WW right??
GJ fought like 5 fights at WW before he faced Margs, you failed on that. How many fights has Marquez done at WW??
He had no reason to call Forrest out, he lost to Mayorga.
Yea, like Baldy brought a lot of PPV buys .
Well when people don't want to fight you cause of the risk, can't blame him. He at least fought the best in his division when given the chance. What did Floyd do?? That's right, RETIRE......only to come back against a LW. And this guy says he's greater than SRR?? lmao!!!
So let me get this straight. It is not okay for Floyd to fight the #2 P4P fighter in the world in his come back fight.. despite the fact they started 4 pounds apart from each other. But.. it is ok for Cotto to fight Pac???? why isnt' there a damn uproar about this? Some of the people on this site are a joke. Double standards are every where.
Hell I love the game. I got it yesterday and played for like 6 hours straight. The best boxing game to date no doubt. don't get me wrong fellas but can't you download boxers that others have created? If so that means you can stack the rosters!
Toney "padded" his record for a reason. He was born to fight. He fought 6 times in 91, with 3 of them AFTER he fought Nunn, 5 times in 92, 6 times in 93, 5 times in 94 etc, 6 times in 95 etc. This willingness to fight so frequently is unheard of today. Toney just wanted to fight, whether it be against good comp. or against "bums". The guy just loves to fight period.
