In light of all the Floyd vs Marquez talk, i've seen posters (mainly Floydboyz) flip flop on what Floyd's natural weight/weightclass is.
I've heard that he's too big for 140, yet too small for 147.
I've heard he's a natural 140lber and shouldnt have to face the top dogs at 147, because they put on too much weight after the weigh-in. Many of his fans say that his most dominate weight is 140, yet when the talks of a marquez fight come up, they agree with im and say the fight should take place at 147.
Ok, so which is it? Is he a natural 140lber, or 147lber. Now if you feel he's a natural WW, then there should be no excuses for him not to face any of the top WW's. If u feel he's too small for the WW division, then he should move down to 140. Plain and simple.
Vote!
This is speculation.
I walk around at 185 and excercise/work out sporadically, therefore it would be much more difficult for me to maintain say a constant weight of 170-175.
Now if i were a gym rat who trained religously, then i would be able to stay around 170-175 much more easlily.
you're speculating also...
besides... on fight night floyd weights 147-150... on fight night cotto weights 155+.
there's no way cotto can maintain 147-150 ever even if he was a gym rat.
i like to use overdieted.
he wasn't really weight drained.
he was at like 150 weeks before the fight.
he just lost too much weight for the fight. not really weight drained because that's more a cut too much weight thing before the fight. i don't think this was the case. oscar just lost too much god damn weight in training camp.
he was too damn worried about not being heavier than pac. like oscar said , "he only has himself to blame." he f'd up.
Exactly! Weight-drained is when u try and cut a large amount of weight/water weight days/hours before a weigh in.
no, cotto is naturally the bigger man. floyd can maintain 150-147 easy... but cotto will struggle to maintain 147-150 even if he was a gym rat.

exactlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, he wasnt dehydrated or weight drained... he was at 150 like 3 weeks out
don't know about allt hat but it just proves how drained DLH was in that fight which discredits pac's win

Man Im going to ask str8 up...
Is Miguel Cotto and Mayweather the same size?
Yes or No?
It depends on what u mean about same size. As far as thier specs go, Floyd is taller and longer. As far as weight goes, Cotto is naturally heavier when not trying to make weight.
didn't floyd weigh right at 147 on fight night, when he fought hatton ? In contrast, hatton weighed something like 155+. But floyd is always picking on smaller guys right....
Here we go again....
Not even that, you do know that Floyd has come in 3lbs over (Fight Night) every division he has faught at except 147.

Cotto is 5'7 with a 67" reach
Floyd is 5'8 with a 72" reach
Difference is, Floyd maintains his weight all year round. Cotto doesnt. Cotto tends to balloon up a bit in between fights.

most of his fights weren't even at 130. only his title fights.
before the belt he was fighting above 130.
i say 135-140 because he's kinda light in the ass for 147.
i didn't want to say 140 because he barely fought there.
135-140 is the best answer for me.
he looked good at 135. he was huge for 130.
I'm talking about now. What's his natural fighting weight-class NOW.
dumbasses keep forgetting floyd weighed less than oscar in their match but oscar weighed LESS THAN PACMAN in their match
so pac is naturally bigger than odlh? :scared:
No way theyre the same size..Cotto could fight at 154.

By some of his fans logic, he's a natural 130lber because that's where he started his career at.
In that case, im a natural 160lber because that's what i weighed at 18 when i stopped growing. Never mind the fact that im 185 now.

Reason why it kills me when people say Cotto and Mayweather are the same size, Cotto was very weak at 140 while Mayweather was confortable at 130 :dunno:
Floyd is a gym rat who stays in shape all year round whether he's fighting or not, Cotto isnt/doesnt. Therefore it was killing Cotto to cut the weight in order to make 140.
Anyone in their right mind knows Floyd isnt a NATURAL 147 pounder....everyone knows he only moved up to chase the dollars and a Oscar fight.
Get off Floyds cock you post about so fukking much man its nuts.
U vote that he's a natural 140lber, yet say that the Marquez fight should take place at 147. Why?
Berto 160 in his last fight
Collazo 155 in his last fight
Clottey is 160+ and 170 against Corrales! lmao
Margarito and Paul don't need to mention
Cotto is 155+ and at one time he was 159
Mayweather was 148 in his 1st fight at 154!
Just wanted to throw that out there and yeah, Cotto did look bigger then Jennings.
That sounds about right to me. Berto is deffo pushing 154/160 and Clottey is about as big as Margarito.
When i watched the Cotto vs Jennings fight that is exactly what i was thinking, that Cotto looked more like a 154lbs than 147lbs.
He has buil himself into a WW body but that doesn't make him a WW. Look at Bradley for example, Bradley is a JR WW but a natural LW, if he were to cut down it'd seriously affect him because dude is packin alot of muscle, same goes for Mayweather.
Reason why I believe Mayweather won't go down to 140 is because he does have interest in facin a WW and he doesn't want to rebuild himself again
Ya feel me?
I agree with some of that. I think he is a built up 147lbs. I think he is probably somewhere inbetween 140 and 147. He does not look like a full fledged 147 pounder to me.
Do you think Cotto looked bigger against Jennings? i thought so.
on the boxingscene interview w/ marquez, he says he's willing to fight at a catchweight of 143... they both can meet in the middle and make the fight at 144.
yes, easier than any other welterweight, but he ain't fightin another WW.
moving down is harder on the body than moving up.
This is true
Representatives for Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is coming out of retirement but hasn't officially announced it yet, and lightweight champ Juan Manuel Marquez continue to quietly negotiate a fight, which would take place July 18 on HBO PPV in Las Vegas. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, Marquez's promoter, told ESPN.com that he's working on it, although he didn't provide other details. However, another source with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com that an issue hanging them up is weight. Mayweather, who retired as welterweight champion, is willing to drop to 145 pounds. Marquez, the 135-pound champion, wants Mayweather closer to 140

I don't agree... Floyd is 148 on fight night... he could make 140 easier then anybody at welterweight...
