Heavyweight disgust:
Arum watched the Chris Arreola-Jameel McCline fight on HBO last weekend … but wishes he hadn’t.
“Let me tell you something,” he said. “I really got sick to my stomach Saturday night with these two heavyweights who were obviously overweight and out of condition fighting on HBO and representing heavyweight boxing in this country. That to me was a disgrace.
“We in boxing criticize the UFC, but Dana White would never, ever allow athletes like that to fight on his cards, out of shape with ridiculous rolls of fat. I think it’s ridiculous. HBO is so worried about lights and camera angles; they should worry about the athletes they give time to.”

Penn could dominate anyone at LW, he has to move up in weight to find challenges
that guy has awesome skills.
too bad he doesn't always come in focused or in shape.
unofficial fight night weigh in:
st. pierre 204 lbs. , penn 157 lbs.
cheating canucks....... :nonono:

I seriously wonder if Arreola picked McCline not, because of his former status as a decent HW, or the fact that he was a good style matchup, but instead because he made Chris look relatively skinny in comparison.
The shape McCline was in was pathetic.
when gsp got penn down it was actually penn slipping on the excess grease on the floor.
if the floor wasn't so greased up , penn could have easily gotten back up on his feet or reversed gsp. :D
if the floor wasn't so greased, penn would have gotten up to get his ass knocked out.
yes, because the top right hand corner of a person's back is a crucial part of an mma fight. lol. I bet penn never touched the so called "greased" area of st.pierre's back.

Pierre wouldn't be alive today if he didn't have too much grease on.

I loved that old style UFC.
It was great because it was really basic. Who is the best fighter? A boxer, a grappler, a huge fat-ass.
I hate that it evolved, lol.
it was bad ass , back then.
think you can fight? sign up. let's see what happens.
shit was cool.
before when there wasnt that large of a pool of talent or guys available to fight in the ufc they had to get whoever they could to fill the bill. now ufc has a deep, deep, pool of fighters and if you've noticed guys being out of shape dont fight in the ufc or get airtime basically. i can't remember in recent years of their being flabby fighters on the ufc, if so, i would say that it's about 1%.
i know for a fact that making weight is a big thing to dana white. he makes it a point to push the issue with fighters and coaches. i think he takes it personal if fighters come in out of fighting shape, i know that he doesn't give much room for guys being overweight, and if it comes fight time, he cuts them out and trashes their contract. he sends them down to the WEC or some other farming organization.
so i say no, you could make the argument that fat fighters have fought in the ufc, but it is seriously limited and controlled now with the newly organized ufc.
there was a couple of guys that could have gone into the ufc earlier that were technically sound and skilled.
guys from brazil , like marco ruas , and sambo guys from russia , like oleg taktarov.
at the time though the gracies owned part of the ufc and they did not want skilled grapplers in the event. they preferred strikers and wrestlers to highlight and promote brazilian jiu-jitsu.
that's old school , no rules ufc.
keith hackney was in a couple crazy fights.
here's his other ufc fight.

wait 'til arreola signs with top rank.
you'll see uncle bob wearing a sombrero in chris' corner screaming viva mexico.
Oh there's no doubt about that, we all know how Arum is. I just think it's stupid for him to critisize Areola knowing that Areola isn't a body builder and never will be.
LOL...now that's entertainment.
Big Lad got screwed, that dude could have been teeing off on him with those shots for four hours and still not knock him out.
He got him with a good one early on though. Big man threw the slowest shot in history in that fight as well, I nearly pissed myself laughing, the other dude could have taken a step back and kicked his punch.
I'm saving that to favourites, green K for you if it lets me.

Amazing! Tim Sylvia looks like he has a V shaped torso in that pic. And he looks like a bodybuilder compared to Cabbage.
