If there were proper boxing rankings then Khan wouldn't be in the top 10 at welterweight so wouldn't be considered for a shot. Mayweather would have to fight Pacquiou, Bradley, Marquez, Thurman et al.
You have to beat guys in the top ten to get in the top ten. Juan Diaz, Carlos Molina and Luis Collazo are not in my top ten at welter but someone else might have them in there. They probably have a shot to sxxx Zab judah in there aswell.
Still get around the "It's a Mexican date" thing but he put Pac-Mosley on that same Mexican date, again whatever happened to "No more excuses" let's make this fight happen? Whatever happened to that from Arum?
I can't defend Arum on this. If Floyd wants 2nd May, Arum should accept that. If Floyd wants random bloods taken, Arum should accept that. If Floyd wants to pay Pacquiao $40 mill when the fight grosses $200 mill, Arum should walk away as that is a stupid offer.
Agree with all those posters saying Peterson is the ultimate paper champ. How he kept his belt after failing a drugs test and then getting sparked in one round is criminal. Now he can lose this one and then drop back down and keep defending it against gypsys like dierry jean.
I think Khan gives Floyd a tough time but Floyd can choose whoever he wants to fight. Why would you choose someone fast when you get the same money for beating up slow fighters like Guerrero and Ortiz? Floyd has said he ain't interested in legacy.
If Mayweather v Cotto is signed and fought at a 155 catch weight , Floyd will be red hot favourite to win, like poll of 100 people and 97 are picking Floyd. Floyd fights Manny and it's near enough 50/50 from the same poll. That's why no one wants the Cotto fight. Or the Guerrero fight or the Ortiz fight. They want to see Floyd in a fight where the opponent has a reasonable chance of winning.
This fight will look a lot like Canelo v Lara, the major difference being Khan will literally be running after the first two rounds. Khan has low punch resistance, an average inside game and panics when he gets caught. Just can't see anything but a KO or wide points win for Canelo.
To suggest that Mayweather is a better boxer than Pacquiou is beyond ridiculous. Just look at their respective resumes. Mayweathers best win is against Corrales and not being funny but Chico is not a hall of famer. Pacquiou has been in with legends like Morales, Barrera et al when they were at their peak. Mayweather has never fought a pound for pound welterweight with the exception of Mosley (who was well past his prime and fought like it). Unless Mayweather steps up and fights Pacquiou then he will never be regarded as the better boxer.
It depends how famous they are. I'm sure you could see world champs who dont have big names working out at their gym like a regular dude. Some work out privately though in gyms that are really only used by pro fighters a certain trainer really focuses on. I'm sure some guys hit up their gym in between fights and just train light/maintain and thats probably the most common way to see them I'd think.
Almost impossible if its James toney. More likely to find him in the golden coral.
It's a fact that Ward was critical of the scoring in the Froch-Dirrell fight. He even tweeted something like: "See that's why I'm always fighting at home".
The scoring in the Kessler - Froch II fight surely hasn't changed his view. Not that the judges found the wrong winner, but 2 of the cards was attrocious.
Personally I don't understand if Ward turns the fight down. He'll whup Froch easy.
Dirrell was horrible in that Froch fight. Every time they engaged, dirrell bottled it and fell on the floor. Even dirrell promoter said he should have stood and fought more. Soooo glad Froch got that decision.
Am i the only one who thought Paulie won this fight?
I mean he was hitting Cotto non stop, no doubt his face took a beating but he caught Cotto all night.
Lol - gutsy effort from Paulie but he took a beating.
Mundine isn't no draw even in Australia, one of his recent fights against Bronco McKart sold a laughable 286 tickets, no joke.
Wrong! The Mckart fight was in the U.S. Every single fight he has is a ppv in Australia.
Khan never misses a chance to trash Brook. Brook has never lost a fight and he has never been knocked down to my knowledge. Brook is not a nobody, he is a top ten world rated welterweight by every ranking place out there. If Khan hates the guy so much and thinks he is so much better than Brook then just fight Brook and knock Brook out. It's a huge payday for Khan and it would earn him a high welterweight ranking. Brook is begging Khan for a fight so why won't Khan fight him?
Agree wholeheartedly with this post.
The Peterson camp were the ones requesting drugs testing for the Khan fight.
While that is no excuse, it tells me more of the stupidity of Peterson's camp in not declaring that Peterson had low testosterone and increasing it artificially - all could have been solved beforehand with a doctor's note.
That's a no contest result in my book. I actually thought Peterson won, even without the point deductions but he was clearly on elevated, artificial testosterone which is a PED. So that's not a fair contest and they needed to strip him and no contest the result. Not sure why that didn't happen.
Stopped reading after "robbed Khan of an easy win". Now while I think without the point deductions Khan would have won, "easy win", is a damn lie.
Khan couldn't keep him off him in the end. So got on his bike, like he did versus Maidana. Peterson was close to knocking him out. Nothing easy there for Khan.
I agree he's well known, but he doesn't have many fans.
The lads on here might tell me different, but I think he is more popular in America than he is here.
Put it this way, his fights are not on PPV.
