AMIR KHAN has been told to put in a stunning display against Devon Alexander if he wants a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr next summer.
The British welterweight takes on his fellow former world champion on December 13 at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay.
Khan, 27, was due to face Alexander last December when the American was still IBF champion.

So Khan is fighting the guy that was beaten by the guy that Brook just beat? (all in their prime) And this is supposed to be some kind of huge statement?
"We are on a different level." - Amir Khan talking about Brook in 2014.
I agree.
So what?
Alexander is an established top WW.
This is the sort of fight Amir Khan loses so the pressure is on him not only to win but do so impressively. I think his style is set up to do that against Alexander. He's long, equally quick and fires off combinations that should keep Alexander at bay. And he'll apply pressure. For all the crap Khan gets about his ring IQ, Alexander's isn't much better in spite of his physical gifts. I could see him struggling to win rounds against the busier fighter and being relegated to trying to land a homerun punch. And if Khan is truly ready, it won't happen.
"Khan needs to make a statement"
I remember the last time someone said that, Khan got KOed by Garcia.
Khan better fight smart. That would be a statement on it's own.
This is a good fight and the winner probably gets Mayweather, Khan looked great against Collazo, Alexander is no mug he could win this one, finally Khan is actually fighting someone to earn the Mayweather fight!
It's a myth that Khan is some master boxer. Master boxers would have adapted to Garcia's hooks, and they don't go life and death with Julio ****ing Diaz.
And it's a myth that he's never been outboxed. Being timed and countered counts as being outboxed.
You threw me in with the "fan base," so I threw you in with the "fan base." Your statement about "having problems," was to make a point that since Floyd said Manny still has Marquez problems, and Khan still has Garcia problems, he shouldn't have fought Maidana because Maidana still had Alexander/Khan problems. My point is that Maidana was a legitimate opponent because he was the WBA WW Champ, 35-3 with 31 KOs, and winner of his last 4 WW fights, 3 by KO. If you put that up vs. Algeri, Khan, and Pacquiao, Maidana definitley deserved the shot, just as much as anyone else.
p.s. I'm not a Manny hater, I'm a Bob Arum hater! If you don't like "Donkey Mode," then stay the fu*k off my posts!
i threw u with the fan base? i asked u a question and u reply back with "chino won 4 straight" totally ignoring the fact that he still have khan and alexander problems, same logic floyd use on other fighters. now show me where i said floyd shouldnt have fought chino? u're a bob hater but u sure did went full donkey mode asking why pac is not fighting danny and is fighting algieri instead, etc. i dont see u mention anything about bob in ur earlier post which would indicate that u hate arum instead u went full retard on manny LOL.
Khan beats Devon...Khan seems to deal with Lefties Very Well i.e. Zab Judah and Collazo. Not to mention Devon isnt the biggest puncher and I think Khan has been a little more responsible defensively... at least in his last bout. i think its a good scrap but I got Khan by UD.
On its own, this is a really good fight. What kind of sullies it is the knowledge that Oscar and co. desperately want Khan to win so that he can waltz right into the Floyd fight. Just look at his comments...he wears his favoritism on his sleeves (can you say "awful promoter"?). If they weren't trying to get Khan in there with Mayweather, both of these guys would probably be fighting lower level guys.
I just want to see it blow up in their faces. On Dec. 13th, I'll be the world's biggest Devon Alexander fan.
Khan doesn't deserve to fight Mayweather for beating Alexander. Alexander is coming off of a loss. It was more interesting when Alexander held a welterweight title. But that's gone. Mayweather would beat both of these bums easily.
Khan by decision.
Doesn't mean ***** for getting Mayweather though. He'll do as he pleases when it comes time to pick as he's shown before. I'm increasingly feeling like Mayweather doesn't want to face quick fighters too.
Wouldn't be shocked at all if somehow it was Danny Garcia, a rebounding Shawn Porter over an overrated name (like what happened with Maidana), or dehydrating the ***** out of a name from 154-160. 150lbs Golovkin or something :lol1:
I can see khan jab,right,hold/hug/pull on head....I can hear alexander throwing punches and grunting and so forth, thats what we will be watching,we'll see khan get wobbled too,i really don't understand why khan thinks he deserves a fight against mayweather, floyd gains nothing by beating khan
And talking about making a statement, that suggest he's going to press the action and be reckless. Alexander may not be Lucas Matthysse, but he has some pop and has been fighting more aggressively lately. He's plenty capable of putting Khan on his ass.
exactly. he was really aggressive in the soto karass, if he goes to his old self they would hug each other for 12 rounds
Last year, when Alexander had a belt, it seemed feasible for Khan to fight him and try to get some credibility with a win. But since Alexander got beaten by Porter, who then got soundly beaten by Brook, why is Khan now fighting him after winning Collazo's belt? This generates mild interest at best, and will not convince Mayweather to give Khan a shot, should he win. This can serve as a keep busy fight, then perhaps Khan can face a recuperated Brook in the spring. He really shouldn't focus much on Mayweather, but continue with his career. If his majesty the queen gives him a fight, ok, but he shouldn't hold his breath or try to impress him.
i can happen, is definitely a possibility, everytime khan puts his mind into floyd he gets sparked

IF this fight determines who fights Jr next then JR's ratings and ppv numbers PLUMMET down the **** POT !!!!!! LMAO
After watching the last Jr fight, I am resolved to never buy another if all his demands are met by the other fighter.
