Am i the only one who thought Paulie won this fight?
I mean he was hitting Cotto non stop, no doubt his face took a beating but he caught Cotto all night.
The crowd was on Cotto's nuts... I had it 114-113 Cotto. Could have easily been a draw though. and if not for the knockdown I would have had Paulie edging it buy a point or two.
The knockdown is one extra point for Cotto so, without it, the scorecard becomes 114-114. Anyone having Malignaggi ahead would have to give him seven rounds and, quite frankly, I don't see how Malignaggi could have won that many and I am a Malignaggi fan.
I had 115-112 Cotto.
It was a great match! Paulie got mad props after that fight! Cotto was destroying people and Paulie himself will tell you that Cotto has been the hardest hitting guy he has faced.
The trolling used to be clever in this place. Paulie beat Cotto and another thread where there are no top 10 Mexican fighters ever...
Fuk man, I wonder why I never post in NSB.
that makes two of us, brother.

I watched this again last night and scored it. This is like the third or fourth time that I score this fight and ended up with a 115-112 Cotto scorecard. That is giving Malignaggi the close rounds in which he did good. The Cotto rounds were convincing and, to me, there was not much room for argument. Malignaggi did a hell of a job and lost a competitive fight.
Even though he looked beat up I thought he won 5 rounds to Cotto's 7 rounds, I became a Paulie fan that day, I wasnt really bothered by his trash talking Pre-fight but more impress that he talked the talk and then walked the walk against a Cotto that looks like a middleweight after having weighed in 2 days before the fight to give him more time to rehydrate instead of the customary 1 day before fight....Thanks to Arum.
That's not true. I'm pretty sure it's illegal for anyone outside of heavyweights to weigh-in two days prior to a fight. The weigh-in took place at 1 PM instead of 5 PM the Friday before the fight. Paulie tried to save face after getting smashed, saying that the extra time (a whole 4 hours) gave Cotto extra time to bulk up.
He didn't win but it was much, much closer than people will have you believe.
I had it 7 rounds to 5 for Cotto. One swing round the other way and it could have been a draw. I haven't watched it in a while though.
People look at Malignaggi's face and assume he got beaten up/destroyed in the fight which couldn't be further from the truth.
Boxing is scored round by round and Paulie won more than his fair share.
You do not count the knocked down?
6-6 with a knockdown would be
114-113 For Cotto.
Despite losing, this was a great display by Malignaggi. You could even argue that it's his best performance ever against a top opponent. Anyway, everytime I see this fight I score either 116-111 or 115-112 for Cotto.
To have Paulie ahead, you would have to find, at least, seven rounds for him and I really don't see how Malignaggi could have won them. I am a fan of both fighters but I tell it like I see it and that is a competitive fight with a clear winner.
