the fact deontay wilder is having his first real fight after 10 years in the sport and 40 opponents says it all really.
guy is a fraud and we all know it.
Where was he making all the noise to fight klitschko before fury schooled him? he was quiet as a mouse.
AJ opponents get 20 million + and Suddenly Wilder is mouthing off like theres no tomorrow. He and his team are desperate for the cash out payday.
Lol, AJ opponents do not get 20 million +, not even close. I don't even think AJ gets that much. I hope he does, and he for sure will sometime if he keeps winning, but very few fighters have ever gotten 20+ million.
roy wanted $12 million to fight him in germany. he would have fought him in the US for much less.
the fight never happened because the fight never made any financial sense. roy was undisputed champion and everyone knew he would crush DM. DM had to weigh the pros and cons of one big pay day vs. roy, or very solid paydays for years to come hiding behind the unrecognized WBO title.
DM chose what was best for his wallet, as he should have.
Thats it right there.

No fighter is scared of facing any other fighter. The promoters though, they are afraid they will lose their investment.
Wilder clearly wants to face Joshua, and Joshua would have no problem facing Wilder. Joshua's promoter doesn't want to risk his golden goose being in a fight that he has a legitimate shot at losing so soon, so he will do whatever to postpone it.
Quit trying to say these fighters are scared of facing one another, fighters fight. If anyone is scared it is the promoters.
Two of my favorite fighters ever, growing up watching these two was awesome. They are both ATGs whose legacies are beyond reproach.
That said, James Toney will KO Roy. Toney had the style to last, he is a throwback, he could fight until 55 and still get some good rounds. Fat, overweight, whatever, he can still bang, he always had some pop but he never had devastating power he was more an accumulation type guy. Footspeed isn't an issue because well, Toney never had any he was always flat flooted. His chin is made of granite infused with tunkston.
I would love to see the ghosts of Roy and Toney fight a rematch of the uncivil war.
Lundy has the speed and savvy to box Lucas' ears off. He has shaky legs, but he might be able to hold it together, its an interesting matchup that I was looking forward to the first time it was announced.
Has the ability to beat them all, only ones that I think definitely beat him are Wlad and Vitali, Haye is a toss up. He beats up the first three no problems.
Queen Con isn't even confident enough of beating Alexander...:lol1: he knows his career is done, he's just looking for that cash-out pay day to end his career.
Alexander is more dangerous than Robert Guerrero. He is basically better in every single category.
yea it was a 3 round exhibition on a monty meza-clay card he promoted. roy is in camp for his fight in december, and i hear he looks good, working a bit with tom yankello.
Couldn't disagree more. Ward demeanor made me more confident than ever that he will win, and look great doing so. Froch was not doing a good job of playing mind games.
no doubt, green k
Well a few things.
Some are racist Brits, just go to a pub or look at comments in his YouTube.
Some hate him talking yet IMO he does s good interview. Do you want a fighter who is quiet or one who talks? Of course reporters will love him, they have things to write.
Three, some hate him for calling out names.
As for your answers, it's not a reason but hatred pick on it because it's easy to say he has no chin etc...
or how about i can choose who i do not like for whatever reason i choose?
i personally am not an amir khan fan, the kid got skills though gotta admit it. im never gonna be the one going to his fights live, or trying to get autographed gloves, but if he beats peterson i will start believing in his hype. i thought zab coulda been the one to end him, he beat zab down made him quit, lets see if he can prove me wrong again
you know i was unaware that your physical attributes, and potentialities are what people ranked on, i thought it was your recent performance....
kessler, green, abraham, then froch, oh and he chose to take on bika in the middle there, pretty sure hes got a decent claim to be on the p4p list, above PBF? nah, MP? Nah, Donaire? Nah, Gamboa? Nah, Martinez? certainly
talking about his speed, or power, or any of that means nothing in p4p rankings, it is how your recent performance stacks up against the rest of the boxing world and andre ward has been fighting the top guys in his division for the past few years and barely losing more than a couple rounds per fight
I just cannot believe how people have flip flopped concerning Froch. I mean yeah I picked Ward to beat him, but there is no shame in losing on points to the best fighter in your weight class, none.
i agree, i still like froch after the loss, **** man i prolly like him more because of how classy he took the defeat basically the exact opposite of khan. froch is the only good british fighter
benn and eubank were ****ing bums
be nice if two of my favorites square off at 135, lundy and gamboa. either of them boxes the ears off of rios, the second rios gets in there with someone that fights smart and doesnt just go at him its over. he will look stupid against gamboa or lundy, just plain stupid. flat footed come forward one dimensional brawler, oxnard boxing specialty.
Calzaghe's win over Hopkins gives him the better career.
But Ward has the better resume at 168, already.
basically /thread right there.
theres really no objective standard in boxing to judge them against each other, but personally i believe ward is something special and i think calzaghe was special when he needed to be, if that makes sense.
no hating on joe, dude was a monster, but more than that he understood this is a business and not a sport and he made the right moves at the end of his career to seal his legacy, however small it is.
I seriously think as fans yall put too much into athletes financial situation
Any true competitor could gave a damn how much they're getting paid. They want to win and move to the top. He made the move to get Pacquiao and now it may NEVER happen
that would be true if pro boxing was a sport, but it is a business sir.
yes floyd fought marquez , BUT when floyd fought marquez it was his first time ever fighting above 140 !!!!!!! and even you would have to admitt maruez wasnt in as tremendous shape as he was in him fight with manny !!!!! face it manny fought a better version of marquez than floyd did !!!!!! if manny fought the same version of marquez floyd had the luxuary of fighting trust and believe manny would have knocked him out !!!!
as it stands right now floyd is at a disadvantage with his lack of expiriance against ATG's and manny will use it against him
you sir, are by far the poster i have seen with the very least amount of boxing knowledge. shame on you.
I hate to say this, but Toney is a punk. I really can't stand the guy and that's saying a lot considering I'm a big Broner fan. lol There's nothing worse than someone that talks all that sh*t and can't even back it up. On top of it he is very inactive and when he does fight, he fights bums. I wish he had the balls to go out like Tyson and fight guys that are an actual threat, so he could be stopped and forced into retirement.
Lol is that how you remember the last few Tyson fights? I recall something different....
Toney is an entertainer, he builds fights up with his trash talk, and he has backed it plenty. The guy is past it now for sure, far beyond shot, but he deserves to fight on for a paycheck if he wants. If he passes all the tests, let him fight, boxing has never been this noble sport where our special warriors get to retire comfortably. Boxers end up broke, the Toneys, RJJ, and Holyfields of the world aren't the first and they damn sure won't be the last guys to box themselves retarded and that is their privilege. Boxing is a rough way to make a living, Toney isn't hurting nobody and he isn't fighting world class guys so I don't see a problem.
Not to try and defend Floyd or anything here, but you all know damn well he didn't mean he had no amateur background at all. He clearly was alluding to the fact that Broner doesn't exactly have the amateur credentials of an Andre Ward type fighter with the Olympic gold, or really any major accolades besides the two that have been stated.
Agree. Hopkins is TOO crafty in there. Only a supreme athlete with boxing skills would beat him. Guys like a RJJ or James Toney.
A supreme athlete like Toney? Really?
Hagler was a monster, his conditioning was insane, he was in ridiculous shape and had an iron will and chin. I love Bhop, the guy really is the ancient master and all that, but Hagler would have mauled him I don't care what anyone says. Might not have knocked him out, but he would beat him around the ring for 12, or 15 like Hagler used to go.
Toney would smoke check Bhop also, Toney is a legitimate throwback fighter not just a crafty smart guy who knows the tricks of the trade and a little old school flavor, Toney fights at any weightclass, anywhere, the guy can come off the couch and go 12 rounds.
Never heard of him how good was he?
He was a master boxer, had a bunch of good entertaining fights, a few against this tough former marine Sergio Reyes I think his name was. He had a nice was of spinning and walking around his opponent, pretty sweet to watch sometimes if you dig that.
Frazier over Ali.
Fight of the century, and the guy basically everyone considers the greatest of all time lost it. Has to be this fight in my opinion...
Helenius is a waste man, so I'd rather not that one tbh.
Would the fight sell with it being a nobody? Haye isn't as big a draw as Hatton, but I'm pretty sure when they announced that, the opponent wasn't even confirmed and it still sold out.....
I'd love to see Haye- Povetkin!
Thats exactly why he will fight Helenius. He looked terrible his last time out, got injured not long ago, doesnt have much pop, and Brits know him because of the Chisora robbery. He also is undefeated, has a pretty solid fanbase, can bring in some money, and is probably ranked by all sanctioning bodies. He is also tall, that could be a benefit for Haye too.
I honestly don't even think Haye plans any spectacular comeback, I think he will come back for a couple BS fights to rob the fans of more money and then laugh as he runs off again to try and be a movie star.
Tyson is a funny dude but Wilder is not the best American HW. I'd pick most american HW boxers to beat him. IMO Amir Mansour is the best american HW out there at the moment.
He's 40, and short. I don't see his ceiling being very high at this point, I think Bye Bye Jennings is our dude. Certainly not Malik Scott who has been selling his wolf tickets for the better part of a decade now.
Lol we don't deserve *****, when is the last time anyone care or ask how Paul Williams is doing?
True story. We loved them when they put their lives on the line for our entertainment, but they are quickly forgotten. At least Paul has his money, his senses, and he seemed rather upbeat about the whole thing. Reminds me of how the Wounded Warrior guys, a few Marines I know got mangled and lost some limbs and they are just happy to be alive. They call it their alive day, I mean it sucks but you could always be dead.
It is not unheard of.
These guys put tons of rounds in sparring, it happens occasionally. People go down alot, not so much that they go out cold. Headgear gives a false sense of safety, you go out just as cold.
I think Khan would take Broner to school.
People are citing Khans chin, and while he doesn't have a good one it certainly isn't the already cracked class people make it out to be. Khan usually gets up and tries to fight back, instead of holding or running. Broners power doesn't seem to have carried at all, which isn't surprising considering he was a huge lightweight, fighting small lightweights. I doubt he can knock Khan out, at least not very easily.
Broner struggles with people who move, his stance is too wide, and he is too flat footed. Khan has quick feet, and he is also alot longer than Broner, he will be able to control the distance and keep moving. He will control the distance with his jab, which is lightning quick and not half bad. Broner couldn't handle Paulie moving around and jabbing him, that fight was close enough to go either way possibly, and I love Paulie but Khans attributes make it appear that he will be able to outbox Broner that way alot easier than he could.
Khan will be lighting him up with 3-4 punch combos and moving out, Broners hands aren't all that quick and he is nearly a sitting duck for that type of fight with his stance and lack of movement.
Broner could also very well just out time Khan coming in and flatten him completely, but I find that the less likely scenario.
I used to hate Khan with a passion, still not a fan of his whiney ass but the dude went from being severely overrated to extremely underrated. He will box Broners ears off.
That guy got battered in the black trunks. The other guy looked sharp, I liked how he put together his punches and he spun out pretty well, good movement, he definitely knew his distance by a minute into the 1st round.
