Only Khan fans and people that dont know **** about boxing say that it was a lucky punch. He was throwing it all fight. I rewatched it last night and paid attention and he set it up from round one. :boxing: I hate khan and enjoyed watching him get beat down but that was about 30% luck, i mean that monster hook he threw he closed his eyes and even turned his head away..... He wasnt even wat hing he just knew it was towards khans direction. Thats luck, skill is watching mayweathet throw punches while keeping his eyes on his opponent... And i HATE mayweathef but hes got skills not luck.
QUOTE=Big Dunn;12139230]The problem with your breakdown is you assert things that respectfully, from a boxing perspective, make no sense.
Canelo Mosley. Nothing Mosley has shown in the last 2 yrs made this a good fight. This was a setup for Canelo to murk him. You essentially are saying you paid $69.95 for a fight with a 10-1 betting line.
Secondly, you ignore the fact that floyd gets the best dates because he's proven to sell more. Its like the NBA puttting Kobe and Lebron on Christmas.
Finally, you ignore the fact the 1st undercard on a ppv is usually about setting up the next opponent or building a name. manny's undercards are weak because Bob is putting on blow outs to make the winner look like a stronger opponent. So you get Bradley Casamayor. Or you get Nonito/Mares.
Floyd is using his direct undercard to build a fight with Canelo. But to assume people are buying the card for Canelo, especially since his fights have been "tune ups" is a stretch, especially since he has never headlined a PPV. dude come on now your stretching it for mayweather, he is a business genius end of story. Canelo sells tons of fights with an enormous mexican following i also agree that the canelo Mosley fight was going to be better than the mayweather fight i dont care what the betting odds say. Mahweather fighting on mexican holidays is a given.... Hes an American fighter not a mexican fighter so by your vision he should be fighting on independence day not cinco de mayo. By the way hes NEVER going to fight canelo
lol.. khan would obviously have lost to a lot of people that night because of the way he was fighting as a result of falling victim to mind games, plus the extremely bad training camp he had.. garcia aint jack, he was just lucky enough to catch khan on a very bad night.. you seriously think he got a shot against a focused and well prepared khan? come on i know you know better than that.. that kid garcia nearly got taken out by judah lol
Lol by that aspect then i can saw mayweather nearly gotten taken out by Judah, but we all know how the fight ended. Garcia has an odd style, a brawler and a boxer, styles make fights and I dont care how many times you put him in there with khan 9 times out of 10 khan loses, now i wouldnt say that at all if khan had a chin like that siberian brawler, if he had that he would be probably the best fighter in the world BUT he has a chin like the queen of england so that sums up that career
missing
im not a hopkins fan but he probably should be on the top 50 list even if how he won sometimes was cheap, and so should manny pacquiao since he destroyed de la hoya and has broken many records even if they were kinda cheap with catch weight none the less that's boxing
No one apart from idiots and Puerto Ricans actually think Cotto has a chance in this fight.
that's exactly what everyone said about rahman vs lewis and buster vs tyson but. ....this is boxing and all these fighters got her by chance and by luck and they still have a fighters chance of squeeling one in because even floyd fans saw him finaly get caught by old mpsley so floyds not in his prime anymore. ...he gets hit now....he's just still better than everyone else even not in his prime. ....
screw bob arum
Bob Arum is a complete piece of Sh1@ he is making every fraking excuse NOT to make the Mayweather fight. I do understand why originaly because by using Top Rank fighter he get 40% of the money coming in instead of 20% but after a year and a half of taking home the money enough is enough I am a true Pacquiao fan but I am very very close to boycotting any Pacquaio fight or even Top Rank fight until the fight the world wants to see gets made. I am a boxing fan before anything else so if Pacquaio wont step up and tell his promoter enough is enough then screw him he wont get another dollar from me and neither will Floyd Mayweather Ill just watch them online for free or the next day I can wait for some crap that keeps getting made. Im sick of it and BOB DOOSHbag Arum
Man I agree with you 100% but its still the only fight that would be entertaining for me to watch since they have both mostly cleaned out their promotional camps. he'll give him a good fight, but his chances of winning have long since diminished. Rios is a guy Pacquiao would have stopped a few years ago.
He was hurting Rios with every punch he threw, there were plenty of times Pacquiao spun him and could have jumped on him and layed into his face. this is how he busted up DLH and Cotto, he hits you really hard, makes you cover up, spins you.when you open up to see whats going on he hits you again and overwhelms you.
Marquez figured this out and he never lets pac spin him, he caught him coming in the last time. By removing this ability out of safety however, Pacquiao took away one of his biggest strengths.
A lot of fights wont be able to time that, Marquez spent 4 fights figuring that shot out.....
Then again he's almost 35 and physical fighters should change their styles. so maybe its a good thing
First off Marquez wont give him a close fight at 144 at all, even if he did atleast i would be happy for paying for a PPV for once!
2nd no matter how the fight ends up I believe Pacquiao gives floyd problems! no matter what UNLESS Pacquiao gets knocked down, which hasnt happend since Ive been watching him on T.V.Floyd can hit Pacquiao all day with flush shots and he still wont go down and Pac will just retaliate with more shots Will you pacfans, not tards, still think he still beats Floyd?
Please honest opinions and ease up on the trolling. Thanks.
Exactly how does Manny plan on getting past Floyd's reach advantage?
Same way sergio overcame paul williams reach advantage. Power and speed but with more aggression pacquiao can't sit and wait like sergio
....or will another welter step up?
What I don't understand is Canelo seems to come in around what most middle weights come in around so why does it seem like he's affraid to fight GGG at middle weight I swear I would say he's not affraid but then whats up with the 155 thing?
Not sure why posters keep saying that fight was a robbery...if you watch it and score it round by round, yes it was a close fight...but how can Robbery be used?
I didn't think the fight was close the last time I scored it, robbery was right in my opinion. In Floyd's defense though to be honest (and I HATE Floyd) I do believe he was either mentally side tracked or just had his only off night, I have never seen him fight that bad for 12 rounds.
im glad im not the only one HAHA.
159.9!! lets go daniel make u kneel geale!
I feel exactly the same, I used to like Cotto...but over the years he has gotten so big headed its insane. Every interview I hear him in he always responds to himself in the 3rd person like hes some god. I hope Cotto gets burned on the weight and then gets knocked out.
Surely can't just be me who's noticed a dip in his the past 2 years?
Yeah 6 straight KO's in the last 2 years with his best competition in his resume....I see the exact same thing. I mean this freaking guy cant even knock fighters out in the 1st or 2nd round anymore! DECLINE!
Check out the HW blog for yourself, I'm not reproducing it.
Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier: 2 overrated featherfists in an overrated fight.
You Tube the FOTC, watch closely as you read the round by round descriptions and add them up.
You can't get any better evidence than empirical/ irrefutable kind ;)
As for Klitschko, sure we'll stay on topic.
Klitschko DIDN'T get DQ'd did he.
Why do you think that is?
Because he didn't break the RULES! You are allowed to clinch, it is boxing!
And Povetkin FORCED a lot of the clinches, which obviously weighed heavily on the refs decision not to warn.
You are not allowed to hold and hit. When the ref says break you have to break. You cannot hold the hands or the neck or stuff like that.
You CAN be warned for excessive clinching! That was a bit of bad reffing.
You also cannot be DQ'd without being warned.
Get the drift?
Anyway that was 2 fights ago, nothing like that had been witnessed previously, so your thread is irrelevant.
The only thing I know you have wrong here is that clinching is illegal no matter how you watch boxing, it is just understood and accepter by refs because getting tangeled up is not illegal its an accident and its next to impossible for a ref to prove which is happening. I have heard the announcers in both hbo and showtime's telecast repeatedly say that clinch is illegal but then scoff it off. There is no way they wouldn't know that after watching more fights than you or I have seen
http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/564386/20140829/top-10-richest-boxers.htm#.VEcKWcu9KSM
Would you consider this article accurate? Who would you consider the future big earners? Opinions?
There is no way Oscar de La Hoya is #3, he is the guy who has been paying Mayweather, plus he gets paid from every single fighter on his promotions. He pays Mayweather, we all have seen Mayweather's checks on twitter from Golden Boy promotions.
If he really wants the fight with GGG he should move down and fight then there will be public demand to it. If he can't make that weight he should just keep fighting opponents at 168 and stop *****ing about a GGG fight.
I have to pretty much agree with you BUT in the reality of boxing, there is NO GREAT fighters that move down in weight to fight people instead of moving up with the strange exception of Pacquiao once or twice. Thats just a disadvantage for a fighter, if GGG is as good as he seems he should move up to 168 and challenge thats what great fighters do.
I just want to know who is behind bkb? founder, president, ceo, majority share holder??, im just curious. any legit answers are appreciated. Bruce binkow is in charge of bkb, hes the ex goldenboy analayst or whatever that left right after scaffer. Supposedly hes an advisor for Mayweather right now which is exactly the opposite style of Mayweather.
Since the 115-113 close decision to Andre ward, froch has beaten bute, mack, kessler and george groves twice. He has won 4/5 by ko and nearly stopped kessler.
Ward has beaten weight drained shot fighter in Dawson, and rodriguez, who i honestly dont know who he is,in a boring decision. If this was any other ranking sport, froch would be ahead, but because of the close head to head loss, froch is behind.
With froch fighting degale or chavez junior either in Jnauary or nov, he would have fought 6 times to wards 2 opponents. With better competition.
So who you have as number 1?
Poll coming. I can see why you and everyone wouldn't like ward and froch is liked more but in reality ward destroyed tbe the super middle weight competition and he steam rolled over froch even if you think the score was close... The fight was a wash. If froch said he could easily destroy ward in a rematch, then that would have my attention but he has said he doesn't even want to fight him, so it is what it is but ward is the best super middle weight until he gets beat
Andre Ward hasn't actually won a SMW fight since September 2012, the Rodriguez fight was a non-title bout at 170lbs.
Rodriguez was #7 or #8, he wasn't even a top 5 guy at SMW.
Shannon Briggs and Roy Jones Jr. are more active than Andre Ward of late.
How long do you get to hold onto the #1 spot? Unless he fights by November, Ward will lose the spot to Froch.
I have to agree to that thought process, even if ward is better or beat whoever, his length of time out of the ring should atleast start to put him behind
Ive noticed a lot of these threads when I come on here the past few weeks
Yeah I don't understand why people care either, but I guess when you run out of stuff to talk about you try to show the value a fighter is worth because lets be honest will never see a cotto, or canelo type of paycheck, it says something about how a fighters career has turned out but not how good the fighter is.... Some guys just cant get a fight
Big money thats kind of laughable because both Canelo and Cotto have never been the A side of a pay per view unless you count the sergio fight which didnt pull in millions of views. So they both had great dance partners for big money, the same will be said here. Now that GGG is getting recognized by apple and other brand names, thats free publicity for the WBC, its a middle weight title which is 160 either vacate the title and fight at 154 or canelo's special weight class of 155
Im buying the next 2 PPV fights also, I like GGG and see this as an action packed fight so I figure its worth the $. But I also didn't buy floyds last fight so im ready for a ppv
LMAO this guy thinks Canelo is the middle weight champ lol belts dont mean **** bro. Canelo has never even fought a real middle weight. I think its funny that you say he has never even fought the best, lee/saunders are you kidding me... What a joke. Jacobs, forget about it, he gets KO'd in 2 rounds. Give GGG a break already its not his fault the middle weight class is so weak.
I pick GGG because he's the better fighter. He can actually cut the ring off unlike Canelo, he's a harder puncher, his jab is better, etc. Has nothing to do with Floyd, but ok
Dito... 100%....I love watching Canelo, so I just write the floyd fight off for too many reasons. But Canelo will never be able to walk GGG down or hit him with anything meaningful without getting tagged harder in the process. I really do like Canelo as a boxer but GGG works him.... The weight does have a favtor too though.
Bump this
Khan goes 7 at the most and thats only because Canelo doesn't like short fights. Canelo stops khan in the 6th or 7th, Khan may pitter pat and tag Canelo all night but he cant fight his natural reaction to exchange which is his biggest downfall and when he eats the canvas.
first off as much as I hate Mayweather, he is an excellent businessman so if he offers 40 million he knows damn well he will make triple that amount himself. I mean come one it would make a ridiculous amount of money and he knows it, thats why he was willing to pay out of his own pocket before even starting training. The point that is being forgotten is that, from all of the revenues generated, before Mayweather even sees a penny of anything, $40 million comes off of the top and goes to Pacquiao.
Even if the fight did generate $120m in fighter revenues, that gets cut $40m, full stop.
Pacquiao: $40m
Mayweather: $75m-$80m
Basically a 65/35 split to Mayweather, but not all that bad for Pacquiao, if folks want to be honest about the numbers that each guy draws.
This is crazy amount of money, cristiano ronaldo lebron james and all these other athletes are on ESPN 24/7 and they come nowhere close to him. I like Pacquiao but there is no way he should be asking for a 50/50 split. He almost doubled Pacquio's earning of 41.5 million. Boxing is not dead after all.
Whats funny about this amount is this does not put into account how much he pays his trainers, his corner, lenoard elerbe, and goldenboy. Pacquaio only has to pay his trainer and corners out of his cut. This is all an illusion he uses because he has an enormous payroll to fullfill.
Algieri? Is this joke? This is worse then when he fought clottey or Mosley after TBE took him apart.
Why is Manny so loyal to Arum? Surely koncz can't let this happen!?!
Theres no reason any floyd fan should want to see him beat someone he already convincingly defeated again... Floyd always will do better the next time out, maidana aint getting no better! The fans want to see floyd and pac and everyone knows it. I agree though algeri is a joke, but not much better than a maidana rematch
Watch the support for this fight spread through this place...
Pacquaio is perfect on this website.
You have been a member for like 20 minutes what would you know Rook!! LOL
