Is Khan Automatically P4P #1 If Mayweather Avoids Him?

Serious question time people. As Khan was victorious in the Mayweather Promotions poll, if the p4p number 1 ducks Khan and instead fights a far inferior opponent like Maidana because he's possibly afraid of the style match up against Khan, should Floyd's position as the P4P #1 automatically be handed over to Khan? Afterall, Mayweather put up a poll, Khan won and now there are (probably false) rumors circulating that he's going to try to escape Khan's clutches. But, if that did happen, and given the unique circumstances that we have with the poll, should Khan automatically be recognized universally as the pound for pound number one boxer on the planet, in an official capacity? It could easily be seen as Mayweather essentially conceding defeat by avoiding Khan. Is Khan automatically p4p #1 if Mayweather now ducked him, especially after he won the official Mayweather Promotions poll? It could be time to update your p4p lists folks. The king is dead, long live the King. Even if Maidana was inferior (which he isn't) and even if Floyd was scared of Khan (which he isn't) and ducked him (which he isn't), it still wouldn't be enough for Khan to be #1 p4p. Khan has to earn it, and he simply isn't good enough. Period.

It's common knowledge that most of Khan's voters are from his social media, a lot of which are casual fans at best, some that just 'watch boxing' when their hero Khan fights someone. Most true boxing fans and people involved in the sport know Maidana deserves this particular fight. Khan should not be given anything free, especially no p4p rankings...if so then Pac should have ages ago, just because there was no poll doesn't mean the majority didn't want that fight...in fact they still do and Floyd knows this. Khan's interest is up and down to say the least. Khan beat Maidana.. Maidana beat an overrated Broner so if that makes you think he "deserves" a fight with Mayweather over Khan then I can't agree. Remember, many people thought Malignaggi beat Broner too so that's Two fighters Khan beat who went on to (in Paulie's case, arguably) beat Broner.. Broner really is an overrated fighter, I think there are fans such as yourself who still don't acknowledge or accept that fact. Some want to cling on to the belief that he's better than he really is. Well if Floyd avoids khan, he is a serial ducker. If Khan beats Floyd on the other hand, he deserves no1 I suppose. Pac lost to Bradley and wasn't Bradley then put above Pac, as was JMM when he beat Pac. And this is considering he beat Bradley and was beating JMM and had beaten JMM 3 times already.

Setting up the poll and failing to go with the winner is abusing the public and reflects poorly on Mayweather but rankings should be earned in the ring not by **** ups in polls.

As I've mentioned several times, it's a unique situation so you need to approach it in a unique way. Think about it - if Floyd didn't fight Khan after Khan won the official Mayweather Promotions poll, that is undeniable ducking, its not an opinion. The evidence for the duck would be based on Mayweather's own official poll results so again, it's undeniable that Floyd would have ducked the winner of his own official "next opponent" public poll. That situation has never happened in history. It is a very unique situation. Think about it, it has far wider implications than most of you are comfortable admitting. It would literally be an unprecedented duck.

I wouldn't say number 1 but he would be somewhere in top 5 p4pIf Khan is one of the five best pound for pound fighters in the world then Diaz should be in the top 10 since he came close to beating Khan in his last fight. Garcia should be number one or two because he recently KOed Khan and Peterson should be #4 since he also recently beat Khan. The only list of mine Khan goes on is the most overrated boxer by his loyal fans list.
