The real reason that people pick Golovkin over Canelo is because in their eyes, Canelo is a tainted fighter who has already been tainted by a loss to Floyd, the most hated boxer ever.
To pick Canelo over Golovkin would mean indirectly picking Floyd (who beat Canelo) over Golovkin, and that is unacceptable and unthinkable to these people who view Golovkin as the last hope, the only one who was never tainted by Floyd.
Realistically, Canelo vs Golovkin could go either way, and in another year or two Canelo should even have the advantage. By destroying Geale, Cotto proved how weak Golovkin's opponents have been, and Canelo ate Cotto's shots like candy.

LMFAO Majority decision. that's just like GGG selling 97k.
Floyd fans do not worry about "he beat him better". that's something that Manny fans invented when arguing that Manny was better than Floyd-he beat ODH, Shane and Hatton "better", since Floyd beat them first.
Most of the idiots that espoused that logic jumped off the Manny bandwagon on May 2nd and got on the GGG train.
Nothing is going to ruin Floyd's legacy. If GGG KO's Canelo, it doesn't in any way affect Floyd's legacy. There will however be a bunch of retarded NSB clowns who will go back to their "he beat him better" mantra.
and the difference is that only ONE of those things is historically correct. The record books dont lie.

tell that to the guy whose post I replied to.
And this right here is what it all boils down to. Floyd fans drinking that fool-aid are absolutely terrified about what it means to floyds legacy if Golovkin ghouls a guy who Floyd drained at a catchweight and still only won a majority decision

Absolutely the truth for a lot of fans here. Not all of them, but a significant portion.
It's a great matchup, at face value GGG looks a little better as a technical boxer, but Canelo has better hand speed and movement. GGG looks to have more power, but I don't think it's by much.
If that was the end of it, I'd pick GGG, but the big question mark is quality of opposition, GGG has fought exclusively tomato cans. He has been in with no one who would challenge his chin at all. Canelo has fought much much better competition and he ate Cotto's punches without blinking and Cotto can hit hard. So I think Canelo beats GGG by KO, but it wouldn't suprise me if GGG won by KO either.
But back to the point. There is most definitely a portion of this message board who hate Floyd so much their entire boxing fandom is predicted on being anti Floyd, to them if Canelo beats GGG it's bad because it will legitimize Floyd even more, some of those same people rooted for the new and improved Freddy Roach trained Cotto against Canelo for this very reason.
If Canelo has a 10 year run as the best in the world, boy, that Floyd victory over him will look better and better.

I would pick GGG because of the power he brings to the table at 160. I think Canelo will put up a decent fight, but he is just out gunned here, I dont think he has the power to hold off GGG.

I pick GGG because he's the better fighter. He can actually cut the ring off unlike Canelo, he's a harder puncher, his jab is better, etc. Has nothing to do with Floyd, but ok
Dito... 100%....I love watching Canelo, so I just write the floyd fight off for too many reasons. But Canelo will never be able to walk GGG down or hit him with anything meaningful without getting tagged harder in the process. I really do like Canelo as a boxer but GGG works him.... The weight does have a favtor too though.
How can GGG's fan who shout about excitement insult Canelo? Dude is easily one of the nicest boxers to watch in the sport, while GGG is literally like watching Paint dry compared to him... I get how you can be angry about the catch weight for 5 mins but jesus grab your sack and get over it

Gennady is going to f*ck Ginger up.
and maybe next year little canelito will grow into 156, and then the year after maybe 158, and then around 2019 he might could handle 160.
you guys are pathetic, and should be ashamed of yourselves.
I bet you it will headline big when canelito move to super caneloweight division which is 156
You come up with some stupid BS theory on why people on here pick GGG to beat Canelo and then say the truth is the truth as if saying that makes everything you said absolutely and undeniably the truth. Nothing you said is true. You say Cotto destroying Geale proves GGG's opponents are weak. What an incredibly stupid thing to say. Geale isn't GGG's opponents, dummy. He is one single solitary opponent who has nothing to do with the quality of GGG's other 30 + opponents. GGG KOed Geale faster than Cotto did and he did it at 160 pounds, not 157. Maybe you are too stupid to know that GGG crushing Geale first makes it easier for Cotto to KO Geale a short time later. People make their pick on the Canelo vs GGG fight based 100% on what they have seen out of both fighters in the ring in the last few years. It's just that simple. The reasons you gave for why they pick GGG to win is just stupid garbage.

how this skinny biatch got a kangaroo pouch!? :lol1:
Can any of the mods explain why the common practice of preventing new posters (those with less than 50-100 posts) from starting threads doesn't apply here, on NSB, one of the most troll ridden forums on the internet?
The answer is yes, Canelo looked fairly ripped at the 30 day weigh in for Cotto he was 168lbs in that picture.
155 is the absolute minimum Canelo can make he struggles to make that. the guy is a fully fledged middleweight.
lol@ the comparison with Oscar a naturally much smaller man fighting at 160 close to the end of his career.
I think it takes time for Canello. Now he weights 155 day before and 180 at the ring. He will need time to make 160 at the weight in and 190 at the ring. It is not an easy task to weight 190 with the height of only 5 ft 9 in...
I know what MW is.
Question is if he makes 160lb in his next fight, do you think he is going to look ripped? I think he comes in as in shape as DLH did vs Sturm. No point in ruining your career trying to rush up in weight when you know you're gonna have excessive fat up there. Can't imagine Canelo looking ripped at full 160 right now, maybe after 2-3 MW fights.
Don't mix and confuse fighter's own weight with a maximum contractual weight for his opponent. If Canelo feels that he is more effective as 155 (which I don't believe for a second, judging by how much he re-hydrates) he can do it all he wants. But draining an opponent is entirely different.

With this... END THREAD.
Truth is, Canelo gets a pass for being a 155lb killa. Team Peasant does not seem to mind Canelo's inner bytch while all along, claiming everyone NOT named Canelo was ducking GGG.
"but doe, Nelo is a blown up welter doe... GGG has to wait til Nelo grows/matures into the middleweight division doe"

That has nothing to do it's experience, skills and power being weight drained and losing doesn't taint you it taints the winner
