The REAL reason people pick Golovkin over Canelo

If GGG KO's Canelo, it doesn't in any way affect Floyd's legacy. Absolutely the truth for a lot of fans here. Not all of them, but a significant portion. It's a great matchup, at face value GGG looks a little better as a technical boxer, but Canelo has better hand speed and movement. GGG looks to have more power, but I don't think it's by much. If that was the end of it, I'd pick GGG, but the big question mark is quality of opposition, GGG has fought exclusively tomato cans. He has been in with no one who would challenge his chin at all. Canelo has fought much much better competition and he ate Cotto's punches without blinking and Cotto can hit hard. So I think Canelo beats GGG by KO, but it wouldn't suprise me if GGG won by KO either. But back to the point. There is most definitely a portion of this message board who hate Floyd so much their entire boxing fandom is predicted on being anti Floyd, to them if Canelo beats GGG it's bad because it will legitimize Floyd even more, some of those same people rooted for the new and improved Freddy Roach trained Cotto against Canelo for this very reason. If Canelo has a 10 year run as the best in the world, boy, that Floyd victory over him will look better and better. And this right here is what it all boils down to. I would pick GGG because of the power he brings to the table at 160. I think Canelo will put up a decent fight, but he is just out gunned here, I dont think he has the power to hold off GGG.

I pick GGG because he's the better fighter. He can actually cut the ring off unlike Canelo, he's a harder puncher, his jab is better, etc. Has nothing to do with Floyd, but ok Dito... 100%....I love watching Canelo, so I just write the floyd fight off for too many reasons. But Canelo will never be able to walk GGG down or hit him with anything meaningful without getting tagged harder in the process. I really do like Canelo as a boxer but GGG works him.... The weight does have a favtor too though.

He is one single solitary opponent who has nothing to do with the quality of GGG's other 30 + opponents. GGG KOed Geale faster than Cotto did and he did it at 160 pounds, not 157. Maybe you are too stupid to know that GGG crushing Geale first makes it easier for Cotto to KO Geale a short time later. People make their pick on the Canelo vs GGG fight based 100% on what they have seen out of both fighters in the ring in the last few years. It's just that simple. The answer is yes, Canelo looked fairly ripped at the 30 day weigh in for Cotto he was 168lbs in that picture. 155 is the absolute minimum Canelo can make he struggles to make that. the guy is a fully fledged middleweight. lol@ the comparison with Oscar a naturally much smaller man fighting at 160 close to the end of his career. I think it takes time for Canello. Now he weights 155 day before and 180 at the ring. He will need time to make 160 at the weight in and 190 at the ring. It is not an easy task to weight 190 with the height of only 5 ft 9 in...

No point in ruining your career trying to rush up in weight when you know you're gonna have excessive fat up there. Can't imagine Canelo looking ripped at full 160 right now, maybe after 2-3 MW fights. Don't mix and confuse fighter's own weight with a maximum contractual weight for his opponent. If Canelo feels that he is more effective as 155 (which I don't believe for a second, judging by how much he re-hydrates) he can do it all he wants. But draining an opponent is entirely different.
