as expected, this was basically 2 guys at different skill levels -- before we start hyping Manny's 'comeback', let's realize that this was basically a showcase fight for him -- by that I mean any time an aging elite guy chooses to fight someone who LOST his last fight, you know that he was handpicked as an opponent to look good against -- Rios was made to order for Manny, that's why he was chosen -- let's see what Manny does when he steps up in class....
You're an idiot too. It's too bad you don't know more about boxing. Do your homwork, clown. Pacquiao offered Marquez TWICE the money he got for Bradley and Marquez wanted no part. Pacquiao offered the same to Bradley for a rematch and they declined. They both took less money to fight each other than a war with Pacquiao. So Rios was available and everyone in Boxing said. "Oh that's a dangerous fight for Pacquiao!" Go dig up the headlines, the articles. "If Manny can't handle the bombs of Rios, its time to retire". YOU read the headlines, idiot. So don't make this out to be some made to order opponent, just like they said about Ortiz, Guerrero & Canelo for Mayweather. To a man, this was to have been a very dangerous fight for Pacquiao, and Manny made him look juvenile, and gave him a real beat down. So shut the fuqkc up clown.
Uh, just what part of what I wrote do you consider to be idiotic? -- that they are at 2 different skill levels? -- that Rios lost his last fight? -- that Manny needs to fight more credible guys going forward? -- why don't you take a literacy course so you can read with basic comprehension?
look who's talking! -- Haye is a coward, a phony and a scam artist -- why is every burp from him covered by the boxing press? -- he has absolutely no credibility or relevance in the sport and is just trying to parlay his disgraceful so-called "purformance" against WK into more millions for him -- enough already!
Haye is a continual blot on the boxing scene -- should be banned from the sport -- his antics are all about getting another (totally undesrved) $$$$ payday from a K bro or a fellow slimball like Chisora
the bad shoulder might explain some of his ineffectiveness but not all of it -- he simply couldn't handle Rig's speed, defense and quickness -- on the other hand Rig basically sashayed out of harm's way and postured from the 6th round on, except for the 12th -- it was a disappointing fight despite the announcers trying to hype it up -- the fans there knew better, booing throughout -- both guys need to move on -- Rig needs to show that he has more than a mild interest in offense against A level opponents and Donaire to show that this was an aberration for whatever reason
can't believe the milage Khan is getting with a 'signature' win against washed up Judah -- Manny should have a field day against him -- UNLESS -- signs of slippage in his last fight were a mirage
Haye is lucky that his purse wasn't withheld for his so-called 'fight' against K -- the worst thing a boxer can do is not try to win a fight, regardless of the outcome -- that's what Haye did -- he took his money under false pretenses and basically defrauded all who paid to see it -- belongs in the Hall of Shame
if Ortiz gives the fight of his life AND PBF is off his game due to prolonged inactivity and being 34 now, Ortiz can do something special -- otherwise PBF will dominate
Ademek should show more than Haye did (which isn't saying much) -- but K. is twice as big as him -- as for Haye asking for a rematch or a fight with the other K, that's a joke -- Haye is lucky that his purse wasn't withheld and he hasn't been fined or suspended after his despicable 'performance' against WK
Kahn / Judah?
Guerrero definitely beats Khan, think Bradley would also -- if Khan can't beat Judah (which I think he will), he needs to think about a different career....
this was not going to be a competitive fight going in -- don't like Kellerman's hypocrisy by talking up Bika before the fight and then saying afterward that Bika is 'not in the same class' as Rigondeaux -- this was clear to any knowledgeable boxing fan before the fight & I'm sure to Kellerman also -- was just a keep busy and make some $$$$ fight for Rigo, period....
oh, Lord, please spare us this one -- Paulie must be the most well-connected guy in boxing -- he's like a jack-in-the-box -- keeps popping up in good $$$ fights despite his lack of credibility....
Jr's whole career has been fraudulent -- built on carefully selected opponents except for Martinez which Jr came up way short -- 2nd level guys like Vera are more his speed -- too bad because he does have some skills, can punch and move but his team has been so risk averse that he hasn't been able to develop in tough fights -- Jr probably has enough to beat Vera but his heart may not be in it any more so Vera might be able to discourage him by being relentlessly aggressive and punching like crazy....
agree that Manny's skills may be eroding and that he is becoming more vulnerable on offense and defense -- BUT there is no way that he doesn't stop JMM, whether it's early or late....
Arreola's team made a big tactical mistake -- they put him in against a guy who can actually fight! -- once again, Arreola showed that he's a glorified club fighter with a fan friendly personality -- he's well connected in the sport and a Hispanic HW is always has a good fan base so expect him to be fed a few tomato cans over the next year or so and then to pop up on TV as if he was still relevant
Bute would flat out destroy Pascal who's a glorified B level fighter who caught the break of his life with that fluke win over Dawson -- Cloud beats Pascal also -- Bute should be a solid favorite against Cloud but it would be an interesting fight with Cloud a live underdog
Manny by a mid round stoppage -- Rios should be made to order for him -- Rios is strong, tough and a hard puncher but he's basically a B+ level guy with no defense,,,,
Agbeko needs to be more offense minded for the rematch -- he was too tentative in the 1st fight, generally unwilling to engage in exchanges -- he can't be moving backward and sideways so often -- he has to carry his resolve and anger into the ring this time.
it's fine if Ortiz is so confident and dismissive of PBF -- but for him to have the nerve to say that he's "not impressed' with what Mayweather has done in his career is ridiculous! -- what the hell has Ortiz accomplished in comparison? -- people can hate PBF all they want and have some issues with him as a fighter BUT it's a matter or record that he's a Hall of Fame level guy who dominated during his time -- with a couple of exceptions, he's never even come close to losing a fight and in fact you could count the number of ROUNDS that he's lost on two hands during his long career -- I'm no fan of PBF myself and almost always root against him but I still have to give him his due
Ortiz of course is in no position to criticize MW for not playing fair -- and look at the tape -- they DID break and then Floyd hit him once hard and Ortiz mystifyingly looked at the ref and then Mayweather delivered the KO punch -- what was Mayweather supposed to do, just stand there and watch? -- my guess is that Ortiz had become so discumbobuted by his being deducted a point for head butting after being hit all night at will by MW that he totally lost his composure at that point -- this so-called 'controvery' really is an excuse for Mayweather haters to continue their hating -- imagine if the roles had been reversed -- that it was MW who blantantly head butted Oritiz and that it was then Ortiz who KOed MW in the same way -- the same people who were booing and are bad mouthing MW would have been cheering their asses off for their hero Ortiz and dancing in the streets in celebration
